Gretchen Wilson was born and raised in a rural part of Illinois by a single parent mother. Wilson began work in a local bar at age 14 with only an eight grade education. Known for her first hit single Redneck Woman, Wilson's entry into Country Music wasn't an easy one. Gretchen Wilson moved to Nashville in 1996 attempting to get into the music industry but had no luck winding back up in a bar.
It was at the bar where singer/songwriters Big&Rich heard Gretchen Wilson singing with the house cover band. Wilson's first single was a huge hit and her album All Jacked Up was key in her winning the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year for 2005.http://www.amazon.com/Gretchen-Wilson/e/B000APUU5K/ref=ntt_mus_dp_pel http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/wilson_gretchen/bio.jhtml
