Gretchen Bleiler was born in Toledo, Ohio; she moved at the age of 10 to Aspen, Colorado, where she learned snowboard. Gretchen was silver medalist at the 2006 Turin Olympics and won four times the X-Games. She won also gold at the 2008 Winter Dew Tour Superpipe. 2010 Vancouver Olympics

She participated in the Olympic Ladies Halfpipe competition on Feb. 18, 12:30 PM PST and was ranked 11th. The event took place at Cypress Mountain.
Other halfpipe American competitors were Kelly Clark (bronze), Elena Hight (10th) and Hannah Teter (silver). Based on the Olympics results four years ago, the U.S. team was favorite in the snowboarding competitions.
Bleiler fell in the first run when she tried her 720 and fell on the second run when the tip of the board caught the lip.
