  • Greta Gerwig is an independent screenwriter, director and actress known for her work with Joe Swanberg. Starting out as an aspiring playwright, Gerwig fell into acting when she was asked permission by a small film whether they could use a voicemail message she left for her boyfriend in a project called LOL. When she agreed, she became the character on the other line of a long distance relationship who literally phoned in her performance with calls and photos. It wasn't until the screening of the film that Gerwig met the director Joe Swanberg and instantly began a working relationship. Her notable film credits include Hannah Takes the Stairs and Baghead.
