  • Swimming Career

    Tait's first major competition was the 1998 Commonwealth Games, in which he swam in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke and the 4 x 100-meter medley relay, placing 14th, 13th and seventh respectively. He competed at the 2001 European Short Course Championships, in which he won a bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke and a silver medal in the 4 x 50-meter medley relay. Tait returned to the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and won a silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke. He made his first appearance at the Olympics in 2004, placing 12th in the 100-meter backstroke, seventh in the 200-meter backstroke and eighth in the 4 x 100-meter medley relay.British Swimming & the ASA: Gregor Tait

    At the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Tait won medals in each of the four events he entered. He took home gold in the 200-meter backstroke and the 200-meter individual medley, as well as bronze in the 100-meter backstroke and the 4 x 100-meter medley relay. Tait returned to the Olympics in 2008 and placed eighth in the 200-meter backstroke.
