Greg Oden is a professional basketball center currently playing for the Portland Trail Blazers. Greg was born January 28, 1988 in Buffalo, New York. While in high school, Oden showed dominance early. He was named Parades High School Player of the Year two years in a row.
After taking a one year detour at Ohio State, where the Buckeyes went to the NCAA title game, before losing to Florida, Oden decided to leave school. On April 20, Oden announced that he would be entering the 2007 NBA Draft. On June 28, 2007, he was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the #1 overall pick.http://www.gregoden.com/
Prior to the 2007-2008 season, Oden had surgery on his knee, causing him to miss his entire rookie year. After getting rehabilitated, Oden returned to action in the 2008-09 season, where he played 61 games before again going down to injury. He showed flashes of why Portland chose him with the top pick however, averaging nine points a game, and seven boards, while only playing 21 minutes per game.
After again readying himself for the season, disaster struck, only 21 games into the season, Oden went down with the exact same injury which hampered him his rookie season, this time on the other knee. His scoring average increased to 11 and nine rebounds a game, while getting starter type minutes.
