Greg Monroe is a 6’11 241 pound Center for the Georgetown University Hoyas. Monroe was a blue chip prospect coming out of New Orleans, Louisiana where he attended Helen Cox High School. Monroe backed up the hype coming into Georgetown with an impressive freshman campaign. He averaged over 30 minutes a game and double digits in points en route to earning Big East Rookie of the Year honors. Monroe finished in the top ten in the Big East in field goal percentage (57%), steals (1.8), and blocks (1.5).

NCAA TOURNAMENT 2010
Georgetown landed in the Midwest bracket as the #3 seed after a tough loss to West Virginia in the Big East Tourney. Monroe had a subpar game scoring only 11 and not being much of a factor. Monroe did lead the Hoyas over Marquette in the previous round scoring 23 points in the lopsided victory. Georgetown fell victim to the Da'Sean Butler show in the final.
The Hoyas season came to a surprising end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The surprising MAC Champion Ohio University Bobcats were not intimidated by the Big East power. Monroe played a great game, scoring 19 and gathering 13 boards. The double-double was not enough as the Bobcats shot well and played solid defense to shock the Hoyas.
