  • Green Lantern is a fictional superhero and star of several comic book series published by DC Comics. The Green Lantern mantle has been adopted by many characters in the DC Universe. Individuals operating as a "Green Lantern" are chosen by an ancient alien race to be part of the Green Lantern Corps. The Corps is an interstellar police force and its members are given a ring that allows them to manipulate "green energy" into any physical shape the wearer can imagine. It also grants the ability to fly, long distance communications, and has potential that's only limited by the Green Lantern's imagination and willpower. They are also given a green power battery, shaped like an old-fashioned lantern, which powers the ring up to 24 hours at a time. Green Lanterns are vulnerable to the color yellow, as the green energy emitted by their rings has no effect on yellow objects unless the Green Lantern learns to master his or her fear. The Golden Age Green Lantern, who is not a member of the Corps, had a similar weakness to wooden objects.
  • Green Lantern's Code

The Green Lantern Corps have a motto they live by, as follows:

    • "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light!"
