The Fox network service campaign Green It Mean It began in earnest in April 2008, to coincide with Earth Day on April 22. Fox celebrities from House, Bones and Back to You will offer eco-friendly advice. The promotion is an initiative by Rupert Murdoch, the owner of Fox's parent company, News Corp. Earth Day has been set aside to promote and bring awareness to the Earth's environmental issues including; air pollution, loss of open land, pesticides, wildlife extinction and global warming. Fox is promoting a contest, "Are You Smart Enough to Save the Planet?", whereby contestants who submit three earth-friendly tips, are eligible to win a Nintendo DS Lite and the Nintendo game "Eco Creatures: Save The Forest." The winners will be announced during a two hour special of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? on April 24th at 7/6c.
