  • Great Bear Lake is the fourth largest lake in North America and the largest lake in Canada's Northwest Territories. The lake is located on the Arctic Circle in Canada and is part of the Mackenzie River watershed. Great Bear Lake can be found between the Kazan Uplands portion of the Canadian Shield and the Interior Plains. Since the Pleistocene era, the lake has experienced several changes due to the melting of ice. Between the months of November and July, the lake is covered with ice. The lake's temperature ranges from -27 degrees Celsius in January to 12 degrees in July. The average yearly temperature of the lake is -7.2 degrees Celsius.
