The grapefruit is a round subtropical citrus fruit, originating in Barbados, and believed to be an accidental hybrid between the orange and the pomelo. It has segmented flesh which ranges in flavor from bitter and tart to sweet and sour. The most common varieties are described as white, pink, or red, the color of the pigmentation of the pulp inside.
