Grand Theft Auto is a sandbox style series of video games published by Rockstar Games, notable for its anarchic tone, celebrity voice overs, and violent mayhem.
Gameplay
Grand Theft Auto gameplay is a mixture of action, adventure, driving, role-playing and racing. The series focuses on a group of criminals that attempt to rise through the criminal world by completing organized crimes.
Controversy
There has been a lot of controversy regarding the Grand Theft Auto series. Critics of the game state the game teaches hate crimes. After the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Haitian and Cuban anti-defamation groups criticized the game because a portion of the plot is a gang war. Jean-Robert Lafortune of the Haitian American Grassroots Coalition states, "The game shouldn't be designed to destroy human life, it shouldn't be designed to destroy an ethnic group." Jack Thompson, a lawyer, has been involved in a number of lawsuits stating the game was responsible for the murder of his client's family members.
