Street Races are required for 100% completion in Grand Theft Auto IV. This option is available after completing the No. 1 mission in the main story line. All nine races need to be completed. To begin a race, call Brucie and select "Race." You get one of three races depending on your location. After you place the call, Brucie lets you know the location of a race. If you have completed the three races for your current island, Brucie will tell you that there aren't any more. You need to be located on a specific island to receive notification of a race for it.

Use cars you feel comfortable with. The Turismo, for example, handles well and moves quickly. The Infernus is a faster car, but does not handle as well. You can also use a motorcycle if you prefer. Opponents' vehicles are not determined by what you are driving. Try not to race at night or during a rain storm as it is more difficult to see. You receive $500 for each race you win.
