Grand Theft Auto IV mission Bleed Out introduces the game's melee weapons and the melee combat system. Roman calls right before Niko is heading out on his date with Michelle. He asks Niko to help him with the Albanians on the basketball courts. This mission leads to the first story line murder of the game, Niko's first kill.

• Roman calls as you approach Michelle's place to pick her up for their first date. The Albanian loan sharks have cornered Roman on the basketball courts in the Firefly Projects, and he needs Niko's help. 
• Decide if you will continue with Niko's date, or postpone the date to help Roman. If you elect to go on the date, Roman will be beaten and hospitalized.
• If you decide to help Roman, follow the GPS to the basketball courts to begin the Bleed Out mission. Otherwise, you will head to Michelle's to begin your First Date.
• Bledar approaches as soon as you arrive; Kalem continues to work over Roman.
• Follow the onscreen tutorial as it walks you through melee combat. 
• Take out Bledar and Kalem in hand to hand combat.
• Once they are defeated, approach Roman for the cutscene displaying Darden as he flees.
• Jump into Roman's taxi with Roman to chase Dardan.
• Do not let Dardan get too great of a lead, or you fail the mission.
• Follow him to the BOABO district where Dardan leaves his car.
• Chase Dardan up the staircase to face off against him in the empty room.
• Follow the in-game instructions to relieve Dardan of his knife.
• Take Dardan out and return Roman to the taxi depot to end the mission. Receive $50, and unlock Friendship with Roman Bellic and Easy Fare, for your trouble.
