Story
The Lost and Damned puts players in the role of Johnny Klebitz, the leader of a motorcycle gang called "The Lost" which is based in Alderney, the Liberty City equivalent of New Jersey.Johnny is only the vice-persident of the gang, but the president, Billy Grey is in rehab and Johnny takes leadership in his absence. Deciding to bring some reform to the gang, Johnny does away with Billy's policies of violence and exploitation in exchange for establishing truces and diplomatic relationships with other gangs, which he hopes will minimize violence while maximizing profits. After Billy returns to the gang, however, Johnny's efforts clash with Billy's old ways, and the two begin to fight over control of the gang.
Throughout the story, events in Johnny's life will intertwine with scenes from the original GTA4 storyline. Niko Bellic, the main character in GTA4, even appears in a minor supporting role. Other GTA4 characters, like Elizabeta, will return as well.

Clean and Serene
- The game opens with The Lost gang—along with Johnny Klebitz—riding their motorcycles through Liberty City. After you pick up bossman Billy Grey, it's time to head back to the clubhouse. Use your map to navigate southwest from Leftwood to the clubhouse in Acter.
- When you arrive at the clubhouse, The Lost will commence welcoming Billy back to town over some drinks. After a disagreement flares up between Billy and Johnny, your first mission becomes clear: find Billy's bike, and return it to him.

- Follow the destination on your map over to the Chop Shop. You'll need to head northeast, from the Alderney burough all the way over to the Industrial district in Bohan. Billy will get reacquainted with Johnny on the way there. It appears the two have differing views on how to best run a biker gang...
- NOTE: You'll notice the motorcycle handling in The Lost and Damned has been significantly touched up. You can now lean into stearing quite a bit without peeling out or falling off.
- Some greasemonkey guy at the Chop Shop claims to not have Johnny's bike: The Angels of Death, a rival biker gang, have somehow gotten a hold of it. Billy and crew are not very pleased with this answer.
- Head west to Northwood in Algonquin to the Angles of Death hideout.
- NOTE: If one of your comrades' bikes is wrecked, it will end the mision. Lead them safely to the next destination.
- WARNING: As soon as you arrive at the Angels of Death's hideout at the salvage yard, the firefight will begin. Be preparded to go right in guns a' blazing.
- There are 8 Angels of Death enemies to the right as you enter the salvage yard, mostly hiding behind fuel tanks (which is terribly convenient since you have a shotgun). In general they will not advance.
- TIP: Target the fuel tanks often. They will explode and brutally take down Angels in their path.
- Strategy 1: Stay on the bike. It gives you speed and the ability quickly get the drop on any one enemy. Work your way from the back side of the salvage yard gradually to the right, towards the entrance, taking out the Angels in your path. Often the Angels will be distracted fighting off your Lost brethren. You can almost always roll right up to them and pick them off at point blank range. One thing to avoid is driving directly into the center of the salvage yard near the closed garage door. You'll be surrounded and can take some fast damage that way.
- Strategy 2: If you like shooters, you may want to take matters into your own hands. Park the bike somewhere and get off. Use the LT to aim your shotgun and fire while walking towards the Angels. There's no need to take cover, as the enemies will most likely be preoccupied with your gang. The shotgun has surprisingly long range in this fight.
- LB Will fire the shotgun while you're on the bike. Keep in mind you can use RT to aim any which way while on the bike. You can even fire directly in back of you while facing the other way this way, for instance.
- TIP: You have 80+ shotgun rounds right off the bat here; there's no real need to be careful or conserve ammo. Go hog wild. Keep firing and don't worry about missing.
- TIP: Before you kill off the last Angel, sweep back around the salvage yard and mop up all of the cash from the bodies. If you kill the last Angel it will trigger a quick cut-scene and end the mission, which causes the money to evaporate. You need to pick it up while the firefight is still raging.
- ACHIEVEMENT: "TLAD:One Percenter" should unlock after you kill the last Angel.

- When the last Angel is down, follow Johnny-and-crew back to The Lost hideout, west, in Alderney.
- NOTE: Don't worry if you fall off your bike, just get back on and follow the blue circle on your screen. Your gang will not get too far ahead without you.

- On the way back a short on-screen tutorial will explain the "Lost Motorcycle Club Badge." The badge will appear on the ground behind Billy when you're riding close together with your crew in formation. If you can hold the formation and ride on top of the badge, it will increase your health and repair your bike.
- TIP: You only have to stay on the badge for a short amount of time. When you hear the noise and see the badge disappear you have gotten the bonus. It will reappear throughout your journey to the safehouse.
- When you get back to the hideout, the mission in complete. You'll be given access to The Lost hideout, where you can engage in numerous activities:
- Sleep/Save: You can save your game by sleeping on the bed.
- Arm wrestling: You can arm wrestle your pals near near the bar
- Hi-lo cards: You can play a card game
- Guns/Ammo: You can buy weapons.
- Watch TV: You can watch TV shows.
- Use Computer: You can browse the in game internet sites.
- Save vehicles: Any vehicles parked in the parking space out front will be saved.
- Walk forward towards the yellow arrow in front of you to start the next mission.
Angels In America
- After the cutscene, you'll regain control of Johnny on his bike. You'll have to chase the Angels of Death on your bike and kill them.
- Follow the group of Angels through Algonquin, using LB to fire at them with your shotgun when close enough. The chase will take you through Booth Tunnel.
- 5min.com: GTAIV - TLAD - Mission 2 - Angels in America (Time: 1:11)
- NOTE: Again, don't worry about ammo, you should have over 100 shotgun rounds at this point.
- NOTE: Crashing or falling off your bike will not be the end of the world. Quickly get back on your bike and continue riding behind the red dots on your radar. You should be able to catch up to the Angels fairly quickly.
- If you are adept at firing while on your bike, you may be able to kill all of the Angels while on the move. Don't get frustrated if you can't, though, as the remaining Angels will stop under the overpass on Topaz Street. They will take cover and start firing at you. Either shoot them while riding by them on your bike, or get off, take cover, and kill them in an old fashioned firefight.
- Once the last Angel is dead, Billy will call you and tell you to meet up with him on Grummer Street. Be sure to pick up any ammo off the dead Angels.
- Follow your map northeast to find Billy. After the short cutscene, you will have access to the Multiplayer portion of the game.
