Liberty City Choppers
- Target: Angels of Death
- Reward: $1000
- Jim's got a mission for you to steal some new bikes from the Angels of Death.
- After the cutscene, you and Jim will be on your bikes. Follow him northwest to the truck.
- 5min.com: GTAIV - TLAD - Jim - Liberty City Choppers (Time: 5:34)
- Get off your bikes and get inside the truck. You'll have to drive to the diner to the south.
- Once you arrive, Jim will tell you to grab a bike and drive it to the back of the truck. Once you do this, a group of Deadbeats will attack you. Jim instructs you to call for backup, so pull out your phone and call either Terry or Clay. (It doesn't matter which one you call.)
- NOTE: Although this mission may be easy, you'll still want to call either Terry or Clay to boost their toughness if you are interested in getting the achievement.
- Take cover next to the Diner or Jim and pick off the Deadbeats with your weapon of choice.
- Once they are all dead, you are free to continue loading bikes onto the truck. When you've loaded four bikes, the game will tell you to get inside the truck.
- Do so, and head back north to the yellow marker. Unfortunately, the Angels of Death are not too happy with your deeds and will chase you back to the hideout. Do your best to drive quickly without wrecking the truck.
- When you reach the waypoint, a cutscene will play and the mission will end.
Bad Cop Drop
- Target: LCPD
- Reward: $2000
- Jim has an idea for dealing with the crooked cops from his previous mission.
- After the cutscene, race Jim to where the cops are stationed at.
- 5min.com: GTAIV - TLAD - Jim - Bad Cop Drop (Time: 5:04)
- NOTE: Winning or losing this "race" doesn't appear to have an impact on the mission.
- Jim will antagonize the cops and get them to chase after you. Your next goal is to lead the crooked cops to an ambush. To do this, you will have to make sure that you don't ride too far ahead of them. As you are riding, tap the B button every few seconds to look from their point of view and make sure you are still in their vision.
- NOTE: Don't worry if Jim gets sidetracked or knocked off his bike, he will recover and follow you. Play as though you are alone.
- When you arrive at the ambush point, quickly drive to the end, get off your bike, and take cover next to your gang. There will be several cars full of crooked cops incoming behind your tail and you don't want to be in the middle of them when they all get out.
- While under cover, take out all of the crooked cops. If you need to advance your position, do so when the coast is clear.
- TIP: Try to aim for the explosive barrels next to the cops for an added damage bonus. If you would like, you can also shoot up their cars, to cause them to explode.
- When all of the dirty cops are dead, quickly get back on your bike. Your last task is to lose your wanted rating, which should be a fairly trivial task since you have a huge head start on the incoming police.
- The mission ends once you have lost your wanted rating.
- After the mission, Jim will give you a call to take out some Deadbeats. The option to go on Gang Wars is now unlocked to you. To initiate one, just drive to the icon on your map.
Hit The Pipe
- Target: Angels of Death
- Reward: $2000
- Jim's connections have procured you some sweet new pipebombs to play with. Your mission is to blow up three Angel of Death vans in Alderney.
- 5min.com: GTAIV - TLAD - Jim - Hit the Pipe (Time: 2:07)
- When you have control of Johnny again, hop on your vehicle and drive east to Alderney. The vans you have to blow up will be moving targets, so just plot a course in one's general area and be prepared to change course on the fly when you are near a van.
- Since your mission is to simply take out the vans, you can employ one of several strategies to accomplish this.
- STRATEGY 1: Pipebombs The game will remind you that you can use a pipebomb while in a vehicle by pressing LB. The longer you hold it down, the shorter the fuse will be, making the bomb explode more quickly after you throw it. Unfortunately, Johnny doesn't throw the pipebomb very far out of vehicles, he just drops it next to him. If you want to take out a van with pipebombs in a vehicle, you're going to have to drive in front of it and make sure it's following you. Toss the pipe bombs out the window, and hope the van drives over it when it explodes. It will help you to take a more heavily armored vehicle such as an SUV in order to absorb the fire you will be under.
- STRATEGY 2: Stop the vans from moving. This can be accomplished in several ways. If you have a large enough vehicle, you can try ramming a van into the side of a building to stop it from moving. Another method is to shoot out the tires of the van or take out the driver with your gun. This may be a little more difficult, though, as it requires pinpoint accuracy while shooting from a moving vehicle. Once the van is immobilized, simply get out of your vehicle and drop a pipe bomb next to the van. Run away from it to get out of the blast radius.
- STRATEGY 3: Rocket launcher If you have any rockets left over from previous missions, you can brute force this mission fairly easily. Simply drive up to any van, get out and launch a rocket at it. Repeat this two more times to complete the mission.
- The mission will end once the last van is destroyed.
End of Chapter
- Target: Traitorous Lost
- Reward: $2000
- During the cutscene, Johnny and the gang will decide to go after Brian.
- 5min.com: GTAIV - TLAD - Jim - End of Chapter (Time: 5:43)
- Lead your gang south, towards the waypoint on docks. Get ready for a very large and challenging firefight.
- After the cutscene, you and the gang will find yourselves behind cover as Brian's traitorous Lost members circle around in their motorcycles.
- Quickly switch to your pipebombs and throw a couple of them out in front of you towards the moving bikes. The explosions should take a couple of them out.
- Switch to your favorite weapon and start gunning down the remaining gang members on bikes.
- TIP: Free-mode aiming may be more effective than auto-targeting here. To free-aim, press the LT button without depressing it all the way. You'll be able to aim more precisely using the right thumbstick.
- After you dispatch all of them (or enough time has passed), your friends will advance forward. There will be two large groups of enemies behind cover up ahead, one to the right and one to the left.
- Positioned conspicuously next to each group is an explosive oil canister. Shoot these when the enemies are clumped up together and your job just got a whole lot easier.
- NOTE: If you accidentally detonated the oil cans before, or simply cannot see them in the chaos, a well thrown pipebomb does the same thing.
- If you have moved efficiently, the two groups of enemies will be down when a van comes barreling towards you. It will park to your right, and drop off a handful of more enemies.
- As soon as you see the van driving towards you, quickly switch to your pipebombs and be ready to throw. When the van parks, throw the pipebomb at it. If you have timed it correctly, it will take out of the van and all of the enemies at once.
- Next, two more bikes with two enemies each will ride towards you. They will go to where you initially started the fight and turn to the right around the large crates to the side.
- Pull out your automatic pistol or machine gun and take them out. Don't worry about missing them on the initial pass, they will continue to circle in loops until you are able to eliminate them.
- Finally, another van will arrive, traveling the same path that the bikes just did. It will park just left of where you started the firefight next to the park fence to let out more bad guys.
- Switch to your pipebombs again and wait for the van to stop. When it does, prime your pipebomb and toss it to the van. The explosion should eliminate the van and anyone inside it.
- A group of five or so enemies will jump down from the wall next to the van at this point. If you haven't blown up the fuel tank here, doing so will take out a large number of them. Otherwise, stay behind cover and pick off the remaining enemies with your guns.
- Once the first phase of the fight is done, a cutscene will play. When you get control again, you'll have to chase several enemies on bikes and eliminate them.
- The most important thing to keep in mind here is to not crash or fall off. Doing so will lose valuable time, and you may fail the mission if the enemies get too far from you.
- Pull out your autopistol or machine gun and try to get in a steady line behind an enemy. Remember that while riding, the LB button fires your weapon. Sweep the left stick from side to side until the enemy drops. Don't worry about being too precise, the game will allow you some leeway whilst aiming from a moving vehicle.
- TIP: Try to only fire at enemies while you are on a stretch of road that does not require turning. Aiming and turning at the same time is very difficult and the risk of crashing is too great. If you get behind some enemies on a long straightaway, you should be able to mow at least one or two down before having to turn onto another street.
- When all the enemies are dead, return to Jim to end the mission.
Bad Standing
- Target: Brian
- Reward: $2000
- Looks like Ray knows where Brian is holed up. Time to give the guy what he deserves.
- 5min.com: GTAIV - TLAD - Jim - Bad Standing (Time: 3:00)
- Ride towards Brian's safehouse in southwest Alderney.
- Once you reach the yellow marker, pull out your cellphone and call either Terry or Clay for backup. Though both will show up when you call, only the one that you called will gain a bonus for getting through the mission.
- Strategy 1:They will instruct you to launch a grenade through the window. The center window on the second floor is breakable. If you have any grenade launcher rounds left, launch one through there to scare Brian into coming outside the back door into the clutches of Terry and Clay.
- Strategy 2:If you don't wish to go this route, you can take the direct approach and assault the house by yourself.
- Go around the back where Terry and Clay are. Pull out your weapon and barge in the doorway. Brian's goons will immediately attack you here. Start shooting and mowing down all enemies as you head for the staircase.
- After taking out all the enemies, Brian will be left alone in his room.
- No matter which strategy you took, you will have the option of killing or sparing Brian's life. To kill him, simply shoot him while you are locked onto him. Otherwise he will leave town, never to be seen from again.
- After the mission ends, you will have access to the safehouse as your own.
