As in previous Grand Theft Auto games, players can drive a taxi cab to earn extra money in Grand Theft Auto IV. Players can access the taxi missions at any time in the game until Roman Bellic's Taxi business is destroyed.

The taxi missions are unlocked after you complete the Jamaican Heat mission. They can be activated by selecting Roman in the phonebook and choosing the "Job" option. If Roman is available, he will give you the location of a customer in need of a lift. Go to the customer's location, pick him up, and take him to his destination.

The taxi missions can be accessed an unlimited number of times up to a certain point in the story. After each taxi mission, you will be awarded money. These missions are not necessary for 100 pecent completion of the game, rather, they merely serve to help you earn extra money. If the player is interested in completing these missions, they only have a limited time to do them.
