  • Grand Funk Railroad's anthem "We're an American Band" is no lie; eventually known simply as "Grand Funk," they are a rock and roll band based out of Detroit, Michigan. After signing to Capitol Records, they released a string of successful albums over a short period of time in the early '70s. With Todd Rundgren producing, they released We're an American Band in 1973. Other hit songs from Grand Funk include "|Some Kind of Wonderful" and "The Loco-Motion." The original band broke up in 1976, but a new lineup continues to tour today.
