Gran Turismo 5
Gran Turismo 5 is a highly detailed racing game released exclusively to the Playstation 3. This is the long awaited sequel to the very popular racing franchise. The game features both single and multiplayer capabilities. A preview of this game called Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was released in 2008 to keep fans interested and show off some of the new features that would come into play.http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5233.html The full version was released on November 24, 2010. http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5343.html It features over 1,000 cars, 26 locations and 71 different tracks.http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/recommend/d5247p2.html
GT5 boasts a host of new features, including a realistic damage model, dynamic weather, 3D Stereoscopic resolution, NASCAR simulation, and karting . http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/recommend/d5247p4.html GT5 is also the first in the series to include both mechanical and external damage, and will allow you to overturn the car. http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/recommend/d5247p4.html All vehicles in the game are separated in to the “Premium” and “Standard” categories. Certain damage and/or enhancements only appear, or are available, on the premium models.
Story
The career mode for Gran Turismo 5 features several different modes of play.
A-Spec puts you in control of the car and sends you through a series of races and tracks. Winning races earns you credits allowing you to purchase new cars or upgrade current ones.
B-Spec lets you take control of an entire race team including an AI driver. As the manager it is up to you to train and nurture your driver from a nobody to a racing champion.
License tests are a variety of mini-events that help teach you the advanced racing techniques required in GT5. Completing all the testys at each level will unlock various cars and racing events.
Photo mode allows you to take pictures of your favorite cars mid-action in race replays or in exoctic locations around the world. These can be saved or shared with your friends. Photo Mode allows 3D movement around the environment using an advanced digital SLR camera.
Special race events allow you to learn racing techniques from real professional drivers. Completing the events will unlock advanced courses for you to try as you progress through the game.
Gameplay
Players take control of a car and manuever it around a race track (in A-Spec) or take the seat as a manager and coach their driver to victory (B-Spec).
In A-Spec there are several different camera views allowing players to drive how they are comfortable. There are a variety of tracks to explore in both different lighting and weather conditions. Players first choose a difficulty level, then a track grouping they wish to play.
Winning races will award players with credits that are used to upgrade, maintain and purchase new cars.
A full list of all 71 tracks can be found on the offical GT5 site here: http://us.gran-turismo.com/local/us/data1/products/gt5/courselist_en.html. You can also find a full listing of the 1031 cars here: http://us.gran-turismo.com/local/us/data1/products/gt5/carlist_en.html.

Gran Turismo 5 Beginner Tips
Aim for the Apex
Make a note of the red and white rumble strips around the track. These are put on the track to warn drivers that they are nearing the edge, and are generally put in places that drivers might be hugging the edge. They may just seem like another part of the track, but they can be a great guide when cornering. If you’re hugging the edge of a turn and don’t see any rumble strips than you most likely missed the proper apex and are cornering in the wrong place. One of the keys to racing is performing proper braking and acceleration through turns. Try to aim for the rumble strips (at the apex) when you are turning to get the best results.
Heavy feet ruin race cars
If you’re new to the genre, one of the first things you’ll have to master is moderation in accelerating and braking. Real cars don’t have stop and go buttons, they have analog pedals that apply variable amounts of gas and/or braking. Try not to get used to holding down the acceleration/brake button on your control pad. Instead try to get a feel for the car, learn how it handles as it accelerates and where the threshold is when you are braking before the wheels lock up and you skid out of control. GT5 prides itself on being as close to real life driving as possible, treat it that way.
Tokyo drift this isn't
You’re going to be in a constant battle to keep your tires firmly planted on the road. Pay attention; if you ‘feel’ or hear your tires start to break loose, lay off the gas/brake until they regain proper traction. Sliding is never a good thing when you are really racing, and while it might seem cool to be on that edge of control, it won’t help you win any races.
Regular maintenance is required
When you first purchase or win a car make sure to change the oil to top up the horsepower. You'll see immediate gains. The more you drive a car the more often you'll need to get the oil changed. When you notice that the car isn't performing as it used to, take it to the auto shop and get an oil change.
Pass your tests
The licence tests are designed to teach you how to play the game, use them as a resource to really learn how to win races. They're also a great source of free cars that you can use to complete other races.
Pimp your ride
If you find you're having trouble on a course, instead of buying a new car, head to the part shop and upgrade a car you're already comfortable driving. The gains from upgrades are immense and can easily shave time off your average lap.
Gran Turismo 5 Opening Cinematic Intro
Gran Turismo 5 A-Spec: Sunday Cup Walkthrough
- Track Series: Beginner
- Per Race Winner’s Purse: 4100
- Autumn Ring Mini
- Laps: 3
- Winner’s Purse: 4100
Tips:
- Brake hard coming into turn one (not on the first lap) and two to make the sharp turns. Be careful with these two or you will go off-roading.
- Moderate your speed going into most turns rather than braking. The majority of the curves in this track are gentle and can almost be navigated going full out
- Brake gently before the last turn and accelerate through it to keep up your speed just before the finish line
- With higher performace cars the turns become harder to negotiate without moderating your speed and/or braking.
- Grand Valley East
- Laps: 2
Tips:
- This race starts with a very long straightaway, use it to draft your opponents off the start and build up some speed, you should be able to move up a few places before the first turn.
- The first slight bend before the major turn can easily be taken at top speed without braking, use gradual steering to keep your speed up.
- Brake heavy before the first turn, this is a great opportunity to practice late braking and move up in the pack. Moderate your acceleration through the turn.
- If you have trouble on the S turn before the tunnel go back and practice on the B-7 license test.
- Watch out for the turn just after the tunnel, by the time you see it it’s almost too late to brake for it.
- Brake as you go into the wide double corner before the finish, that way you can accelerate through the second turn and take the most advantage of the straight stretch by the finish line.
- Tsukaba Circuit
- Laps: 2
Tips:
- Brake hard before the first turn and moderate your acceleration going through it.
- Go full out on the gentle S curve before the hairpin, then brake hard against the outside corner and coast through the hairpin itself.
- The corner after the hairpin is deceptive, it’s sharper than it looks, make sure you brake before heading in to it, and accelerate out the other side.
- The track bends slightly just before the second hairpin, follow it and stick to the outside as you brake. Make sure you are braking before the curve, once you’re into the curve you’ll need to brake again to keep on a good line.
- The turn before the finish is actually a series of turns with multiple apexes, you`ll want to brake and pick a driving line across both apexes to accelerate out toward the finish

Gran Turismo 5 A-Spec: FF Challenge Walkthrough
- Track Series: Beginner
- Per Race Winner’s Purse: 4100
- Suzuka Circuit East Course
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- Through the first corner series moderate your speed. There are three distinct corner apexes, brake before each one. Heavier on the first two than on the third.
- The S curve is very gradual, gentle braking and gradual steering will ease you through it with minimal loss of speed.
- The turn after the S curve is sharper than it looks, a light brake before the turn will help you stay tight on the inside corner.
- Gently braking just before the last corner leading back to the straightaway will let you power through the rest of the corner and get a good start at accelerating through the straight stretch.
- Cool Feature: Take the last turn before the straightaway along the inside corner to end up in the pit stop row. Your speed is limited to 50, but you -can- drive through for the scenery.
- Clubman Stage Route 5
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- This is a night course, so be prepared. It is quite dark, and your headlights are your only souce of illumination, so try to keep pointed down the track as much as possible, don’t weave back and forth.
- Head into the tunnel, brake on the bend to the right, then again as you start left, the rest you should be able to power through without drifting in to the wall.
- The first right corner coming out of the tunnel is sharper than it looks, make sure to brake for it. Keep a good line going for the next and you should only have to brake lightly to get around it.
- The two successive right corners before the straightaway both need moderate braking, they look gradual on the mini-map but are deceptive. Brake going in and power through the rest
.
- Deep Forest Raceway
- Laps: 2
Tips:
- There are a lot of blind corners in this race so keep half an eye on your mini-map so you have an idea of what is coming up.
- Brake hard going through the first turn and moderate your acceleration coming out of it, it is very easy to slide right off the track.
- Power through the gentle S curve and brake as you’re coming out of it for the blind corner that leads to the underpass.
- Right after the underpass is a blind S curve. Brake into the corner and try to moderate your speed to hug the inside turn, then come off it through the next underpass moving back to the left around the second part of the S.
- The trees overhead obscure the road just ahead and you might miss the wide left hand turn if you aren’t ready for it.
- After exiting the tunnels up the mountain you have to brake almost immediately to hit the next turn. You can power through the whole next section until you have to brake hard on the last turn before the straightaway.

- London
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- The streets here are quite narrow, don’t be afraid to rub against other cars to get past them or move them out of your way
- Your first turn here is a right angled turn, make sure you really brake for this one and take it slow coasting around the corner.
- Through the first S curve you can accelerate along the first corner but brake hard before the second.
- Moderate your speed through the right angled S curve later in the track. Brake before each turn and coast a bit. Try to stay on a good line through all three corners.
- Braking lightly before the last bend leading to the finish line will let you power through the rest of the turn and accelerate on the straightaway.
- Circuito de Madrid Mini
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- This is a city street map, which means the streets are tight and unforgiving.
- All three corners in this triangle are pretty brutal when it comes to turning, make sure you brake hard before going in to any of them.
- Practice late braking to pass on the first corner.
- Corner 2 requires a brake about half way through the corner to stay on a good line, you’ll know when you start to drift.
- Brake a little light on turn 3 and coast around the outside to pass other cars.
- Cape Ring Inside
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- This is a very high speed track, very little or no braking is required on most corners.
- Don’t steer hard into the corners, practice moderate cornering to keep your speed up
- The first turn is quite sharp and will require heavy braking. The S curve after it however only needs light braking during the first turn.
- The second S curve requires heavy braking, and if you pick a good line you can almost steer straight across the rumble strips on both corners.

Tips:
- This is a long track and almost every corner in this race will send you into the dirt if you take it too fast. Moderate your speed both before and during the turns.
- Brake earlier for turn one, it is very easy to miss the turn and end up in the wall, which takes a ton of time to recover from.
- Take the second turn very wide and brake going in. Moderate your acceleration through it.
- The wide right turn has two braking points during the turn to keep in the optimal lane; you’ll start to drift quite wide if you miss them.
- Brake hard on the sharp left (basically a right angle turn) after the wide right. This one is also easy to overshoot.
- Brake hard before the second hairpin and accelerate out through the S curve, drive right over the rumble strips and keep your line as straight as possible.

Tips:
- There are almost no single turns in this track, they are all series; make sure you are watching your exit from the turn to set yourself up for the next one
- Drive cautiously, most turns require you to slow down quite a bit to navigate safely
- Just after the bridge decelerate quickly to prepare for the chicane.
- Take the series of turns before the finish line with a moderate speed and you can swing right through them, then accelerate to the finish.

- Track Series: Beginner
- Per Race Winner’s Purse: 6750
- Circuit de la Sarthe 2009 (No Chicanes)
- Laps: 1
Tips:
- This track is quite long, don’t let the single lap fool you
- The race title is also misleading, the only chicanes missing are the ones on the back stretch, the rest are still there.
- The turns are all very sharp and narrow, you can easily end up in the dirt or in the wall if you aren’t careful. Make sure you slow down adequately going into the turns and pick a good line to push through them
- Right away you’re introduced to a high speed corner followed by a tight chicane (narrow, sharp, low speeds). Make sure you slow down before the turn. You can pick a driving line across the grass to cut off some time or pass some cars.
- The back stretch is just one long straightaway, so keep your speed up and try not to get bored.
- After the straightaway is a sharp turn, and another straight drive
- The whole final stretch leading up to the finish line is one hard turn after another, try to keep your speed up between the turns and don’t over steer as you move through them, it is very easy to skid out here.
- Eiger Nordwand Short Track
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- Right away you’re going down hill and introduced to back-to-back hairpin turns. Be very careful braking into these turns and steering through them, it is easy to pick up more speed than you think you are.
- The rest of the course is very up and down, you will accelerate faster on the downslope and brake faster on the upslope. It takes a bit of getting used to.
- Moderate your speed through the wide turns to keep a good driving line.
- The last corner before the finish is very tight and requires hard braking and moderate acceleration through it to hold a good line.
- Don’t be afraid to hit the jump point (just after the finish line) hard and get some air time.

Tips:
- Most of this course is fairly wide open; wide roads, wide turns.
- Keep your speed up going through the first turn series, slight braking will be all that you need
- Most of the corners through the mid series of the track are blind, keep an eye on signage down the road to see where you’re going.
- The first turn into the tunnel is blind and very sharp. It’s hard to judge a good line since you can’t see, but make sure you keep your speed down heading in to it or you’ll drift right into the far wall
- Watch the blind wide left after the tunnel, it comes up on you faster than it looks on the mini-map, brake hard before you see it or it’s too late.
- Try to take the S curve before the finish as straight as possible, don’t be afraid to offroad a bit here, if you pick a good line you can burn right through the corners and accelerate to the finish

Tips:
- This is a city street map, which means the streets are quite narrow, don’t be afraid to rub against other cars to get past them or move them out of your way.
- The first turn, being right angled, needs heavy braking and coasting through.
- The second turn is also a right angled turn and is the start of an S curve, brake heavy going in and moderate your acceleration going out.
- The long wide right handed corner needs light braking as you are going through it and just before you are leaving it.
- Brake heavy on the last turn before the straightaway and accelerate through it to pick up some speed before the finish line
- Cape Ring Periphery
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- Brake heavy through the first turn and accelerate through the S curve. Moderate your acceleration around the bend heading up the hill.
- Be careful coming over the hill; there is a bend and turn almost immediately that you’ll need to slow down for. If you crest the hill too fast you could be out of control before you get there.
- Try to moderate your speed around the circle to hug the inside corner and keep a good line.
- There are a few tight S curves through this track, make sure to brake heavy before going in to the turn and moderate your steering, keep your driving line in mind as you head around the first and in to the second corner.
- Brake heavy before the last turn leading to the finish line and moderate your speed coming out. The wall is close as you turn the corner and easy to hit.

- Accelerate down the hill and try to get a jump on your opponents. Be careful going over the crest that you aren’t steering because if you pick up some air you’ll land almost out of control.
- Watch your speed over the crest and brake hard coming in to the double hairpin. Don’t accelerate too hard out of the first since you have to brake right away for the second.
- Brake hard on the wide right hand turn (before the tunnel) and accelerate through it to pick up some speed along this next section.
- Brake lightly on the turn after the tunnel, it is very easy to over steer and skid on this corner.
- Brake hard on the turn before the finish line and moderate your acceleration through it. This is a great place to overtake opponents.

- Laps: 3
Tips:
- Brake hard going in to the first turn and then take it on the outside for easy passing.
- Accelerate through the second turn and take the outside as well for more easy passing.
- Brake hard going in to the hard right, this is a great place to practice late braking and catch up or pass other cars.
- After the long straightaway brake hard going in to the next turn, keep your wheels straight then cut the corner and coast around, this corner requires caution. It is very easy to hit the wall.
- Brake light on the wide corner before the finish line, and moderate your acceleration out of it. Keep a good line to get a head start on the straight section leading to the finish.

Tips:
- Don’t be afraid to off-road a bit here, trucks don’t suffer nearly as badly as cars do in the dirt
- Most of the corners here are quite tight, make sure you’re slowing down and practicing out-in-out through them.
- A lot of this track is uphill coming out of turns, so keep your speed up as much as possible so you aren’t tied to accelerating only on the upslope.
- The downhill chicane is a great place to off-road, make a straight line down the hill and across the dirt to the road, it cuts off a bunch of time.
- Superspeedway - Daytona
- Laps: 3
Tips:
- This track is a big oval, you can keep your speed up and still make the corners. Moderate your throttle rather than braking
- There are multiple ‘good’ driving lanes around the corners, pick one and stick to it.
- Moderate your steering so you aren’t drifting around the corners.
- Most of the other drivers will brake slightly heading into the corners, this is your chance to blow by them.

- Most of this track can be navigated with your throttle wide open, there are long straight stretches of track where you can keep your speed up.
- Braking lightly before most corners that you aren’t sure of is a good idea. Since you only run through this track once it is hard to know what is coming up. Being careful is better than heading too fast into a difficult turn

- This track is basically all corners, one after another. It is very technical, very long and very difficult.
- You need to moderate your speed through most of the course, you will be in a high powered vehicle, but you can’t always be going full out around the corners
- Braking early and often is necessary to navigate the sharp corners
- Moderate your speed and steering through the wide corkscrew, try to stay to the center of the track and keep your steering inputs to a minimum
- Be patient, there is a lot of track, and rushing to get ahead will cost you. If you carry too much speed into any of the turn sequence it is very easy to spin out.
- Grand Valley Speedway
- Laps: 5
Tips:
- This is a high speed race with a few tricky turns. Most of the track is quite wide giving you lots of options for good driving lanes through the corners.
- The first corner can be very difficult after you’ve picked up speed on the second lap. Be careful as you steer around the bend and brake for the hairpin, don’t upset the balance of your car or you’ll end up spinning out one way or the other.
- Again don’t rush, moderate your speed when you need to and don’t be too heavy on the throttle.
- Be careful going through the tunnels, they both exit into blind turns, so be prepared.

Tips:
- The main challenge in this course is that you are driving at night, which means you are limited in visibility and your reaction time is going to suffer.
- As you start there is a slight bend then a wide turn through a tunnel. This sequence is more difficult in later laps as you’ll be heading into the bend at high speeds. Make sure you are careful through this area.
- After the tunnel are a series of hard turns followed by a tight high speed S. If you aren’t careful through the S curve it is very easy to hit the wall.
- You will go up and down hill through this race, keep the slope in mind when you are measuring your braking distance.
- The hairpin turn is difficult in that you can’t see it until you’re inside it. Keep half an eye on your mini map and brake early for an easier time.
- Tokyo R246
- Laps: 5
Tips:
- You start here on a straightaway to get your speed up, then immediately hit a hard right angled turn. Make sure you brake hard and brake early for it.
- Right afterward you have another short straight stretch and a tight S curve, if you pick a good line you can weave through the curve and accelerate out of it.
- With the high walls and scenery most of the corners here are blind, they’re hard to navigate and tight around the bend. Be cautious your first run through and try to learn the track so you can take it right to the edge for the next four laps.
- Watch the blind high speed S on the back side of the track, it’s easy to go into it too fast and skid out.
- Moderate your speed through the last series of turns before the straightaway to the finish, watch your line coming out of the turns to set yourself up for the next one.

- Per Race Winner’s Purse: 32,600
- All Stars Winner’s Purse: 163,000
NOTE: In this race you’ll be going up against some of the highest performing cars you’ve seen yet. The key through these races is to pick a good driving line and keep your speed up as much as possible. If you can get ahead early it’s easier to stay ahead than it is to catch up.

- NOTE: The road is very narrow here; if you can get in front early you can usually keep your lead just by going relatively fast and staying on the road. Staying on the road might be the difficult part, but it’s almost impossible to catch one of the other high speed cars here if you aren’t ‘really’ good at this track.

Tips:
- This is an extremely high speed course. If you can’t top out at around 220mph tune your transmission to get there.
- The goal here is to refraid from using your brakes and almost never take your foot off the gas.
- The corners are wide and slightly banked, if you pick a good line you should be able to drive through them.
- You might get passed on the straightaways, try to stay out of the drafting zone so people can’t use you for a speed boost. Keep an eye behind you and block with your car if you see someone coming up fast.

- Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
- Laps: 5
- See “Pick-up Truck Challenge” for tips
- NOTE: You have lots of time here, be careful going into turns, dive to the inside to pass. Ease onto the accelerator so your wheels don’t spin beneath you.
- Superspeeway - Daytona
- Laps: 10
- See “Pick-up Truck Challenge” for tips.
- NOTE: Don’t take your foot off the gas. You’re going to need to draft here to stay close to the lead. You will likely get passed back and forth a few times and the other cars will try to PIT you and send you into the wall so you have to watch for them. If you can get into the lead and block on the straights you can usually stay there through most of the race. Try dropping all the downforce in your car and upping your rear camber to 3 to help with your speed and cornering.

Tips:
- You start out on the straight here. Make the most of it to gain some place ranks through the pack.
- The hairpin at the end of the first straightaway is really sharp. You need to brake very early for it to be able to get your car around.
- The turn sequence before the back side straight stretch is technical and you need to moderate your speed through it; pick a good line through the corners rather than hitting them hard and trying to accelerate out.
- The chicane on the back stretch after the straightaway is also very tight. You need to pick a good line to get through it without hitting the wall.

- NOTE: At 10 laps this is about a 20 minute race. You’ll suffer from some fatigue so try to stay focused. It might be a good idea to put medium tires on for this race ( if you’ve been using softs). This race is also very focused on cornering. If you have trouble with the Race Car, choose a different car you’re more comfortable cornering with; you should have a good selection at this point.

NOTE: These are all 20 lap events, which makes them long and difficult. Make sure you aren’t using soft tires or you’ll run into problems half way through.
- Fuji Speedway

Tips:
- You start here on a tight right hand turn then into a reversed line along the Indy track that you’ll be familiar with.
- Instead of continuing around the wide corner, take a sharp right (brake hard) to the inside of the track.
- The turns here are semi-difficult. The track is quite wide, and therefore forgiving, allowing you to take the corners at a good speed.
- Watch the back-to-back hairpins, don’t accelerate too quickly out of the first one or you’ll overshoot the second one.

- Car to use: MINOLTA Toyota 88C-V Race Car ‘89
Tips:
- This is basically the Nordschleife course with the GP/F tacked on the beginning.
- The section at the start is a high speed area with technical turns. The first turn sequence is tight around the hairpin (make sure you have the driving line on if you don’t know where you’re going here).
- The rest of the initial sequence is a fairly wide track that can be taken at high speeds with some tight corners that you’ll need to brake for and accelerate through quickly.
- Watch for the tight chicane in the center of the starting track, you can cheat just a bit, but not much through it
- For the rest see “Lupo Cup” for tips.
Gran Turismo 5 A-Spec: Endurance Races Walkthrough
Once you have reached level 25 the next tier of races are unlocked. These are extremely long gruelling races that will take time, energy, effort and dedication to complete. The races are nothing special, you will be familiar with all the tracks already – it is only the length that is different. While you are racing, weather and time of day will change (which is really interesting for a video game like this).
- Grand Valley 300km: 60 Laps in the Grand Valley track
- Roadster 4 hours: 4 Hours on the Tsukuba Circuit
- Laguna Seca 200 miles: 90 laps on Laguna Seca
- Indy 500: 500 laps on Superspeeday - Indy
- Suzuka 1000km: 172 laps on Suzuka Circuit
- Nurburgring 4h: 4 hours on the Nurburgring course
- Tsukuba 9h: 9 hours on the Tsukuba Circuit
- Le Mans 24h: 24 Hours on the Circuit de la Sarthe
- Nurburgring 24h: 24 Hours on the Nurburgring track
The timed races are ‘real time’ so to complete a 4h track takes four hours of actual driving. Since you will likely be driving an overpowered car in one of these races and will be lapping the competition it is possible to leave the game run and park your car somewhere, then come back later to play a bit more. Be careful doing this of course that you don’t leave it too long and lose any lead you might have gained.
Gran Turismo 5 License Tests: B Class Walkthrough
B-1: 200m Stopping Challenge
- Gold: 13`300
- Silver: 13`600
- Bronze: 15`000
Gold Tips: Get a feel of how fast the car brakes. Once you pinpoint how long it takes to stop it’s just trial and error to start stopping in the right location.
B-2: Steering
- Gold: 22`200
- Silver: 22`600
- Bronze: 25`000
Gold Tips: Steer very gradually, the corner is wide and doesn’t require you to brake. Hug the inside of the turn as much as possible, but don’t worry about swinging wide just a bit if it keeps your steering to a minimum.
B-3: “Out In Out” - The Most Basic Cornering Line
- Gold: 26`300
- Silver: 26`500
- Bronze: 28`500
Gold Tips: Take the corner widely from the right, this will let you steer minimally to get the same effect. Don’t skimp on braking, you have to slow down considerably, and moderate your acceleration coming out the far side of the turn.
B-4: Braking into a Corner
- Gold: 13`800
- Silver: 14`000
- Bronze: 16`000
Gold Tips: Brake heavy before the turn as you come in wide, and don’t step on the accelerator immediately. Let your momentum carry you a bit through the corner then hit the accelerator to pull you the rest of the way through.
B-5: Basic Corner Theory – Slow in, Fast out
- Gold: 18`900
- Silver: 19`500
- Bronze: 21`000
Gold Tips: This one is extremely difficult. You have to brake hard before the turn, coast, then break soft. Scrape the rumble strips and moderate your acceleration around the turn right after you pass the apex.
B-6: Exiting from a Looping Corner
- Gold: 14`600
- Silver: 15`200
- Bronze: 17`500
Gold Tips: This is another very hard one, hit the brakes a bit late coming into the turn and steer hard into it. Ease off for just a second, then brake again for a short stretch. Floor the gas and steer hard through the rest of the turn.
B-7: High Speed Driving Lines and Throttle Control
- Gold: 19`000
- Silver: 20`000
- Bronze: 23`500
Gold Tips: Take the first turn wide and ease off the throttle to steer across the rumble strips. Through the first S curve, brake briefly before each turn and take the second turn sharp. Aim for the next set of rumble strips past the second piece of the S turn. Hold the accelerator down through the next turn then brake sharply as you start into the last turn, then accelerate through it.
B-8: Finding a line through an S Bend
- Gold: 21`100
- Silver: 21`600
- Bronze: 25`000
Gold Tips: Brake lightly as you start to turn the first wide bend and coast through it to the apex. Don’t hit the gas too early or you’ll start to drift wide. Hug the right side of the track and take the second turn wide as well, braking early then accelerating through it. Try to hug the inside rumble strips as much as possible.
B-9: Overtaking using slipstreams
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: Pass the first car quickly and get back in front of him. He’ll draft you and you’ll both move a bit faster. Pass the second car quickly and get between him and the leader, then pass the leader. You’ll probably be passing the leader as you cross the finish line. This one is really tight timing wise, but it just takes some practice.
B-10: Indianapolis Motor speedway 1-Lap Battle
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Third place
- Bronze: Ninth place
Gold Tips: You have to worry as much about keeping a top speed as you do about drafting. Don’t wobble all over the track trying to stay behind people, keep your lines as clean as possible through the corners. Always take the corners on the insid, never pass on the outside.

A-1: 400m Stopping Challenge
- Gold: 16`300
- Silver: 17`000

Gold Tips: This is the same as the B license, pinpoint where to stop and do it.
A-2: Approaching a Blind Corner
- Gold: 27`000
- Silver: 27`400
- Bronze: 30`000
Gold Tips: Power through the first bend then brake for just a moment before the second turn (no steering). Accelerate as you’re steering, then tap the brakes for just a second across the apex. Hard on the gas and keep the acceleration going through the next 2 turns.
A-3: Cone Slalom
- Gold: 20`000
- Silver: 21`000
- Bronze: 25`000
Gold Tips: Try to keep your line as straight as possible, turn before you get to the cones and stay as close to the inside cone as possible. Moderate your acceleration during the later stages of the course.
A-4: Tackling the Monza Circuit Chicane
- Gold: 18`900
- Silver: 20`000
- Bronze: 22`000
Gold Tips: The key is determining where to start braking before the corner. It’s a hard brake then coast around the first corner and to the second apex before accelerating.
A-5: Tackling Continuous Urban Right Angled Corners
- Gold: 14`500
- Silver: 15`000
- Bronze: 17`000
Gold Tips: Moderate your acceleration around each turn. Brake before the second two and carefully accelerate through them.
A-6: Master a Set of Undulating Corners
- Gold: 19`000
- Silver: 19`300
- Bronze: 21`000
Gold Tips: This is great Out-In-Out practice. Try to keep your line fairly straight as you move through the successive turns. Hug the inside corners on each and practice gradual steering.
A-7: Driving a Mountainous Dirt Track
- Gold: 32`000
- Silver: 33`000
- Bronze: 34`000
Gold Tips: Brake really hard going into the corner and try to steer hard around the corner at the same time. Don’t be afraid to almost stop the car, you’ll pick up a lot of speed going down the hill right after the corner for a fast finish.
A-8: Tackling the High Speed “Schumacher S”
- Gold: 13`800
- Silver: 14`200
- Bronze: 16`000
Gold Tips: You shouldn’t need your brakes. Tag the right side rumble strips before gradually steering into the first curve, coast a bit so you don’t skid around the corner. Accelerate through the next curve.
A-9: Using Braking to Overtake on the inside of a Corner
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: Follow the cars and brake when they do, cut to the inside and let off the brake just a touch to go by. Be careful not to waggle your steering back and forth when you cut to the inside, it has to be a smooth motion so you can still turn the corner.
A-10: High Speed Ring 1 Lap Battle
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Third place
- Bronze: Seventh place
Gold Tips: Draft the cars in front of you and take the turns opposite of everyone else. Pass during the corners and draft on the straight stretches. By the tunnel you need to be behind the #3 car to have a chance at gold.
Gran Turismo 5 License Tests: International C Class Walkthrough
IC-1: 1000m Stopping Challenge
- Gold: 26`700
- Silver: 27`000
- Bronze: 28`500
Gold Tips: You’ve done this twice before, this is no different. You’ll have to practice timing it because when you can really see the stopping point it’s too late to slow down.
IC-2: Hard Braking and Exiting a Corner after a Downhill Straight
- Gold: 16`200
- Silver: 16`700
- Bronze: 19`000
Gold Tips: Brake hard as you pick your line through the corner, coast briefly and don’t be afraid to skid a bit around the bend before accelerating through it.
IC-3: Taking a tight Double Hairpin
- Gold: 18`300
- Silver: 19`000
- Bronze: 22`000
Gold Tips: Every corner is very important; you need to be tight on the rumble strips without skidding and over steering. Take the corners slowly and keep your position for the next corner in mind as you accelerate out.
IC-4: Early Braking When Driving Downhill on Dirt
- Gold: 27`000
- Silver: 28`000
- Bronze: 32`000
Gold Tips: Brake early before the turn. Be careful in the first stretch where the track bends, steer very gradually or you’ll already be out of control going in to the first corner.
IC-5: High Speed Corner on the Rome City Course
- Gold: 18`500
- Silver: 19`000
- Bronze: 21`000
Gold Tips: This one is all about proper braking. There is really only one turn; you can skip the first bend and brake straight through it then coast and accelerate out the other side. Don’t turn too sharply, if you have to turn hard you’re going too fast.
IC-6: Blind Corners in the Woodlands
- Gold: 11`200
- Silver: 11`500
- Bronze: 13`500
Gold Tips: Don’t brake into the first corner, moderate your acceleration through it instead. As you are coming out try to be going as straight and close to the guard rail as possible to take the next corner right across the inside.
IC-7: Consecutive Corners With Different Bank Angles on Dirt
- Gold: 20`000
- Silver: 21`000
- Bronze: 25`000
Gold Tips: The first corner is going to be tighter than you think. If you are sliding too far toward the signs you’re going too fast. You’ll be drifting around all these corners so try not to lose control. You can power through the second turn but will need to brake for the third.
IC-8: Traversing Monza Circuit’s Notorious Lesmo Corner
- Gold: 21`300
- Silver: 22`000
- Bronze: 25`500
Gold Tips: Brake just as you go into the first corner and then accelerate hugging the inside turn. If you drift out you are going too fast. Take the second corner wide and brake hard before turning in to it then accelerate across the apex.
IC-9: Using Late Braking to Overtake
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: Take the inside corner on the first two bends in the track to pass the #2 and #3 cars. Follow the #1 car into the hairpin and brake just after he does. Before you hit him cut to the inside and take the turn ahead of him.
IC-10: Rome City Course 2 Lap Challenge
- Gold: First Place
- Silver: Third Place
- Bronze: Seventh Place
Gold Tips: This is a difficult track, the best place to pass is doing a late break at the hairpin. You’ve also practiced previously at the high speed S so should be able to pick a good line throgh it. Everyone will slow down and take the outside, if you cut inside you can make up some time.
Gran Turismo 5 License Tests: International B Class Walkthrough
IB-1: Wet Road Stopping Challenge
- Gold: 13`900
- Silver: 15`400
- Bronze: 16`800
Gold Tips: The braking window in this track is even narrower than the last ones. You'll find that it is around the 10 second mark that you have to brake to hit it spot on.
IB-2: Tackling the First Corner of Circuito de Madrid
- Gold: 16`000
- Silver: 16`500
- Bronze: 18`600
Gold Tips: This section is attempting to teach you trail braking (easing off the brake as you reach the apex of a corner to decrease turning radius) so if you haven’t been using the right stick for throttle control, now is your chance to learn.
IB-3: FR Cone Slalom Challenge
- Gold: 18`500
- Silver: 19`300
- Bronze: 22`500
Gold Tips: You really need to moderate your steering or you’ll start losing control almost immediately. This is one of those tests that it feels almost impossible to complete without a wheel. Keep practicing, you’ll get there.
IB-4: Snow Driving Challenge
- Gold: 19`900
- Silver: 20`300
- Bronze: 23`500
Gold Tips: Power through the first turn and just very lightly brake for the second. Be very careful not to over steer here, the moment you do you’ll be fishtailing all across the track.
IB-5: High Speed blind Corners on Tokyo Route 236
- Gold: 14`200
- Silver: 14`500
- Bronze: 17`000
Gold Tips: Your entry into the first corner is going to make all the difference. Brake hard and turn right across the rumble strips. If you skid, you’re over steering and/or carrying too much speed. Take the second corner straight across the strips and accelerate through it to the finish.
IB-6: Tackling the Final Corner at Tsukuba
- Gold: 18`700
- Silver: 19`000
- Bronze: 22`000
Gold Tips: This is a wide corner and you need to think of it that way. You’ll notice right at the start there aren’t any rumble strips on the inside corner, that means you don’t want to be hugging the corner just there. Aim for where the rumble strips are (about half way through the turn) then accelerate out from there to the finish.
IB-7: Undulating Consecutive High Speed corners on Dirt
- Gold: 19`500
- Silver: 20`000
- Bronze: 23`500
Gold Tips: You can’t hit this corner full throttle. Moderate your speed into the first slight bend and brake before the corner, then moderate your speed through it. Don’t over steer, if you are cornering too hard and drifting out of control through the turn it means you’re going too fast.
IB-8: The Carousel at the Nurburgring
- Gold: 17`200
- Silver: 17`600
- Bronze: 19`000
Gold Tips: You have to practice major throttle control and steering control here. Come into the corner slow, moderate your throttle, coast, and try to stay on the patterned crappy pavement area through the turn. Accelerate out of the turn but don’t stomp on the throttle, If your wheels start to spin you’re accelerating too fast.
IB-9: Strategic Driving on the Final Section of Tokyo Route 246
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: Draft the first car and pass him on the inside of the second corner. Pass the second car as he starts to brake then brake hard in to the turn. Get a tight line on the inside corner and accelerate through. The key here is the last turn and getting the proper line so you can accelerate out faster than the #1 car.
IB-10: Deep Forest Raceway 2 Lap Battle
- Gold: First Place
- Silver: Third Place
- Bronze: Seventh Place
Gold Tips: These challenges are quite difficult because you have to be perfect, and you can’t touch any of the other cars. You should see some familiar parts of this track from previously tests, follow the strategy you used through the difficult turns and you should be fine. This is a 2 lap challenge, so don’t be in a huge rush, there is actually quite a bit of time to make your way through the pack.
Gran Turismo License Tests: International A Class Walkthrough
IA-1: Mastering the Circuit de la Sarthe’s “Indianapolis” Section
- Gold: 38`200
- Silver: 38`800
- Bronze: 42`000
Gold Tips: Power down the straightaway until you get to the corners. This is a difficult series, remember to brake in a straight line so you don’t upset the balance of the car. You can light brake through the first wide turn, but are going to have to slow considerably for the second two turns. Use the out-in-out driving method that you’ve already practiced.
IA-2: Braking from Hunaudieres into Mulsanne
- Gold: 30`300
- Silver: 31`000
- Bronze: 33`000
Gold Tips: This is just like the other high speed braking challenges, but with a twist, there is a corner at the end of it. Try to brake straight with very little steering just before the slight right bend. You want to exit on the outside so you can take the Mulsanne using out-in-out.
IA-3: The Corkscrew at Laguna Seca Raceway
- Gold: 18`500
- Silver: 19`000
- Bronze: 21`000
Gold Tips: This corner is difficult because it is blind becaure you are going uphill. Your braking is going to take some practice because if you start too early the hill will slow you down too quickly heading into the corner. You want to carry just enough speed to swing around it, then cut across the inside rumble strips of the second turn.
IA-4: Braking into Consecutive Corners on Snow
- Gold: 40`000
- Silver: 41`000
- Bronze: 47`000
Gold Tips: This is all about moderating your throttle, brake and steering. If you aren’t smooth on your transitions you’ll slide all over the track. Make sure you are carrying speed (just not a ton) through the turns, drifting a bit is ok, just don’t try to correct by over steering.
IA-5: Driving Around Madrid’s Puerta de Alcala
- Gold: 15`500
- Silver: 16`000
- Bronze: 18`500
Gold Tips: The key here is carrying just enough speed to head in to the corner and moderating your throttle through it. Just as you’re pulling out you can step on the throttle and cut across the inside of the last turn for the finish
IA-6: Visualizing a Driving Lane Through Blind Corners
- Gold: 30`700
- Silver: 31`200
- Bronze: 34`500
Gold Tips: The key here is to be smooth through the corners. You’ll want to be braking before each turn and moderating your acceleration through them. Pick a line with your exit speed in mind. At the exits of turn 2 and 4 you should be going full throttle to maximize your speed.
IA-7: Toscana’s Tricky High-Speed Consecutive Corners
- Gold: 31`400
- Silver: 32`000
- Bronze: 35`000
Gold Tips: You’re driving on dirt here, so be careful of your steering inputs. Moderate your throttle through the turns and be sure to brake in straight lines so you don’t drift. In the tight right turn, don’t dive straight to the inside. You want to pick a nice line while thinking of your exit point as you head in to the last turn of the course
IA-8: Cape Ring – Spiral Bridge
- Gold: 27`000
- Silver: 28`000
- Bronze: 33`000
Gold Tips: You really need to be reactive on your throttle here. You want to be gradually steering and keep a steady speed through the whole turn. If you start skidding or your wheels are losing traction, ease off the throttle. There is a point just before the end as you’re rounding the last bend that you’ll need to brake just slightly to stay on course.
IA-9: Strategic Driving on the First Corner of the Grand Valley Speedway
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: This is another late braking exercise, watch your line through the first corner, you don’t want to go wide and hit the dirt. Draft the cars leading to the turn (you should almost pass the #3 car) then dive inside them and brake late to get inside the #1 car. Make sure you hug the rumble strips and accelerate out and take the gold.
IA-10: Grand Valley Speedway 2-Lap Battle
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Third place
- Bronze: Seventh place
Gold Tips: This is a very technically difficult course. Don’t try and rush through the corners, pick your line and stick to it. The first corner is from the last test, practice what you did there for great results. Watch the blind corners in the tunnels, they are narrower than they look.
Gran Turismo License Tests: S Class Walkthrough
S-1: Applied Overtaking - Monza
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Third place
- Bronze: Seventh place
Gold Tips: This is basically a 1-Lap battle on the Monza Circuit. You have a couple chicanes to work with on the first section of track and some wide corners. You can cut across the corners in the first two chicanes and not ‘go off track’ and be disqualified, but in the last turn series on the back side of the track you can’t. Be careful on the wide corners after the second chicane, it is easy to drift off the track if you don’t brake adequately.
S-2: Applied Overtaking – Trial Mountain Circuit
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: There are a lot of turns in this course, and they are almost all difficult and/or blind. Practice diving to the inside on turns and try to pass one car on every hard turn. At the beginning if you pick a good line and brake lightly, moderating your acceleration, you can pass the two cars ahead of you before the tunnel and get a good head start.
S-3: Applied Overtaking – Nurburgring GP
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Third place
- Bronze: Seventh place
Gold Tips: The corners in this race are all difficult and quite technical, make sure you are picking a driving line that maximizes your exit speed. The first hairpin at the start is a good place to late brake and dive to the inside to get into the middle of the pack and make up some ground. Be cautious of the chicane on the back stretch, it is very easy to end up in the wall if you carry too much speed here.
S-4: Applied Overtaking – Tokyo Route 246
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: The first corner is a great place to practice late braking to jump up in the pack. You really have to watch your driving lines here. This is a very high speed course, and if you aren’t watching your line you’re going to fall behind. There are two gradual corners where you can moderate your speed and pass on the outside, but most of your passing here will be diving to the inside on the corners. The last corner before the long straightaway is also a great place to dive around cars and then sprint for the finish.
S-5: Applied Overtaking – Laguna Sera Raceway
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Third place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: It’s very hard to cut to the inside on the first turn, but most cars will take it wide, so you can sneak in across the rumble strips before they pull around the second part of the corner. Dive inside the others cars going around the corners. Most of them will brake harder than is necessary to get around. Be careful on the chicane, it’s blind and right over the top of a hill, make sure to slow down for it and take it easy.
S-6: Applied Overtaking – Madrid City Course
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: To get a good start you can pass the cars on the right side. There is just enough of a gap between them and the wall; brake late and cut inside. There are three main corners in this track, which is where most of your passing will happen. Try to dive inside as many cars as possible, you can rub them a bit since the track is so tight here, but don’t bash in to them to get them out of the way. Be careful on the chicane just before the finish line. Make sure you slow down through it, the track is very tight there.
S-7: Applied Overtaking – Top Gear Test Track
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: This track is very tight, and requires you to drive very aggressively. You need to get a lot of movement done in the first turn series before the first straightaway. By braking on the left side of the cars on the first straightaway you can usually squeeze past a few more heading into the high speed area. Draft the cars here to make up some time. Your last chance for turning is the two right angled corners just before the finish line.
S-8: Applied Overtaking – Suzuka Circuit
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: This is a very technical track with very few good passing areas. Make the best of the first turn sequence to move up in the pack. Dive inside, then outside as the corners switch back and forth. The hairpin turn after you go under the bridge is another great passing point. Watch the chicane just before the finish line, if you’re careful and aggressive you can pass one more car here.
S-9: Applied Overtaking – Circuit de la Sarthe
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: This is a very long and very high speed track. Take advantage of the first series of turns, you can make up quite a bit of ground here by cutting to the inside. Also, you can drive over the blue marked areas and the pavement, so if you cut the corners a bit or overshoot to pick up some extra speed it can help you out. Be careful of the long straight stretches and chicanes on the back end of the track, they are great places to pass, but if you aren’t paying attention they are easy to overshoot. There is also a double chicane just before the finish, watch out for it.
S-10: Applied Overtaking – Special Stage Route S
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: This is a high speed night driving course where you can’t see any of the turns or other drivers. Again the first series of turns is going to be your best bet for moving up quite a bit through the pack. They’ll all slow considerably going into the turns, dive to the inside and cut around them. Being blind, the hairpin turn is difficult to navigate but you can cut inside here to pass. The last series of turns are quick, but if you’re close you can pick your moment and blow by.
Gran Turismo 5 Special Events: Karting Experience Walkthrough
Beginner
- Tokyo Bay Kart Track (Sunday Kart Race)
- Laps: 3
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: This is an exercise in moderation, the handling is much more responsive than a car, and if you over steer you will spin out. Braking will cause the same issue, so moderate instead of slamming on your brakes. The track is quite short, just a few simple turns. Make sure to moderate your speed and take the turns smoothly without over steering.
- Eifel Kart Track (Weekend Cup)
- Laps: 2
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: This track is quite simple; most corners are wide and can easily be navigated by moderating speed rather than braking. The last corner however requires heavy braking and then gradual acceleration. Make sure to carry some speed because it is easy to over steer on this corner if you are going too slow.
Intermediate
- Eifel Kart Track (Clubman Kart Cup)
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: This is another very simple track; the corners are wide and easy to navigate. Practice your out-in-out driving on the corners, use gradual steering and accelerate through them. Only the second to the last corner requires some speed moderation so you don’t drift into the far wall. Be wary of driving onto the dirt, it will very quickly make you lose control.
- Tokyo Bay Kart Track (Tokyo Bay Kart Challenge)
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: This track has some very difficult corners. The first corner series you need to take slow and moderate your steering, be careful that you don’t have the wheel cranked over as you accelerate out of the corner. It is also very easy to spin out on the last corner before the finish line, make sure to moderate your speed through it and not over steer.
Advanced
- Tokyo Bay Kart Track (Gran Turismo Karting Trophy)
- Laps: 5
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: Being at dusk, the lighting is not the best, making this a difficult race. The track is long and most of the corners are wide so you can keep your speed up, there is a tight S curve in the center of the back stretch that will catch you if you aren’t watching for it.
- Autumn Ring Mini (Autumn Ring Mini Masters)
- Laps: 5
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: This race is actually very difficult even if the roads are wider. The turns are more technical, requiring a good driving line to get through them without spinning out or hitting the dirt. The other racers in this track are also very competent, so to win you have to be better than they are.

- Superspeedway - Daytona (Using Drafting to Get Ahead)
- Gold: First place
Gold Tips: You need to tuck in behind the other car right from the start as much as possible. Draft through the corner and then slingshot past to the finish line
- Superspeedway - Daytona (Drafting With Multiple Cars)
- Laps: 1
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: Get right on the butt of the red car in front of you, and ride him all the way around the bend until you’ve almost caught the #1 car, then slingshot past both of them.
Intermediate
- Superspeedway - Daytona (Inside Driving - Daytona)
- Gold: 13`000
- Silver: 13`100
- Bronze: 13`300
Gold Tips: You’ll have to moderate your speed just a touch to get through the corner. At the end make sure you don’t drift toward the middle of the track. Try not to go over the yellow line, as that will make you lose speed by upsetting the balance of your car. Keep your steering smooth, don’t let the car wobble.
- Superspeedway - Indy (Inside Driving - Indianapolis)
- Gold: 10`680
- Silver: 10`800
- Bronze: 11`300
Gold Tips: These corners aren’t banked as steeply, so you’ll have to moderate your speed going through. Don’t hit your brakes, just coast if you start to drift outside and ease on the throttle as you drift inside.
- Superspeedway - Daytona (Outside Driving - Daytona)
- Gold: 13`200
- Silver: 13`300
- Bronze: 13`400
Gold Tips: You have less room for error here since the wall is on one side and there are cones on the other. Try to stay central, with the white dotted line running through the center of your car.
- Superspeedway - Indy (Outside Driving - Indianapolis)
- Gold: 11`100
- Silver: 11`200
- Bronze: 12`000
Gold Tips: Same as the inside driving, watch out for the wall, it is very easy to drift into it.

- The Top Gear Test Track (SambaBus Challenge)
- Laps: 2
- Gold: First Place
- Silver: Third Place
- Bronze: Ninth Place
Gold Tips: The vans are very slow, and they accelerate sluggishly, so your job is to keep your speed up as much as possible. Cut around opponents through the first turn sequence, then dive inside them through the roundabout into the straightaway. The last two right angled corners are great for diving to the inside, you don’t have to brake much at these speeds to get around the corners easily.
Intermediate
- The Top Gear Test Track (111R Challenge)
- Laps: 2
- Gold: First Place
- Silver: Third Place
- Bronze: Fifth Place
Gold Tips: This car is very light and very slippery, you have to be very smooth on your steering and throttle inputs or you’ll be skidding all over the track. Your exit speed is what you need to focus on here, since all the cars accelerate the same you want to be the one with the best exit. If you are having trouble with the car here try turning on the assists and upping your TCS level.
Advanced
- The Top Gear Test Track (Kubelwagen Challenge)
- Laps: 2
- Gold: First Place
- Silver: Third Place
- Bronze: Fifth Place
Gold Tips: This wagon is even worse than the vans. It is slow, slow to accelerate, and difficult to corner at even its top speed. Don't get impatient. There is a lot of time in the race to make your way to the first place spot. Try to be right behind someone coming out of the hairpin so you can draft them on the straight stretch.

- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe ’54, Sector 1 /Dry)
- Gold: 1`36`000
- Silver: 1`43`000
- Bronze: 2`00`000
Gold Tips: Moderate your speed through the first turning series. The car is responsive and corners well, so take advantage of that. In the second half of the course try to keep your speed up and practice moderate steering to manoeuvre through the gentle bends. Watch the bend going over the hill, it is easy to drift into the wall here. The turn before the finish is also quite sharp, be prepared to brake hard.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe ’54, Sector 2 /Dry)
- Gold: 2`21`000
- Silver: 2`31`000
- Bronze: 2`57`000
Gold Tips: You begin in a high speed area that undulates a bit back and forth (and up and down). Keep your speed up and try to pick a straight driving line. When you hit the corners slow down and moderate your speed through them. Most of the rest of the course alternates between straight, undulating areas and technical turn series'. The wide right just before the finish can be taken at relatively high speeds to give you a nice exit speed going into the last straight.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe ’54, Sector 3 /Dry)
- Gold: 2`07`000
- Silver: 2`16`000
- Bronze: 2`39`000
Gold Tips: Most of this sector is drivable at high speeds. There are very few hard corners, most require gentle braking or throttle moderation. The corner just before the carousel is one that requires heavy braking. The carousel corner itself is easy to navigate, but the pavement is in bad shape and it is easy to lose control if you accelerate too hard out of the corner.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe ’54, Sector 4 /Dry)
- Gold: 2`30`000
- Silver: 2`41`000
- Bronze: 3`08`000
Gold Tips: The first part of this area is the same as the rest; undulating track, high speed sections broken up by technical corners. Be very careful through the high speed areas, the bends are a bit sharper than you are used to and you need to moderate your speed going in to them or you might overshoot the road (which is quite narrow in some places). There is a very long straight stretch just before the finish. As you get to the point where the track starts to bend, once more start quickly moderating, the cornering series here is difficult and needs to be taken carefully.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe ’54, Full Lap /Dry)
- Laps: 1
- Gold: 8`49`000
- Silver: 9`27`000
- Bronze: 11`02`000
Gold Tips: You’ll be racing against other cars here (they are spread out and you’re far behind to start), so be careful. They will get in your way, but don’t let them get you anxious, you’re racing against the clock not them. Pass them when you can and drive your own race. For the rest, put what you’ve learned so far to good use.
Intermediate
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ‘10, Sector 1 /Dry)
- Gold: 1`22`000
- Silver: 1`28`000
- Bronze: 1`43`000
Gold Tips: You’ll be going a bit faster here, so it makes the turns more difficult. Otherwise the track is the same. This tuned car handles very well, don’t be afraid to drive a bit on the edge.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ‘10, Sector 2 /Dry)
- Gold: 1`57`000
- Silver: 2`06`000
- Bronze: 2`27`000
Gold Tips: This portion is the same as the beginner section but at higher speeds. Be careful accelerating out of turns, it’s easy to use too much gas and upset the balance of the car.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ‘10, Sector 3 /Dry)
- Gold: 1`44`000
- Silver: 1`52`000
- Bronze: 2`10`000
Gold Tips: Remember to focus on your exit line and plan for the next corner, you’ll be moving quickly, and with the ups and downs through this section you have to pay careful attention to your speed.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ‘10, Sector 4 /Dry)
- Gold: 2`04`000
- Silver: 2`13`000
- Bronze: 2`35`000
Gold Tips: Moderate your speed and acceleration through the S curves here, they will be quite a bit more difficult with your extra power. Be extra careful here after the long straightaway, it is doubly easy to go out of control if your steering inputs are a bit jerky.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ‘10, Full Lap /Dry)
- Laps: 1
- Gold: 7`05`000
- Silver: 7`35`000
- Bronze: 8`52`000
Gold Tips: You’ll be racing against other cars here (they are spread out and you’re far behind to start), so be careful. They will get in your way, but don’t let them get you anxious, you’re racing against the clock not them. Pass them when you can and drive your own race. For the rest, put what you’ve learned so far to good use.

- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe `54, Sector 1 /Wet)
- Gold: 1`49`000
- Silver: 1`57`000
- Bronze: 2`17`000
Gold Tips: You`ll be slip and sliding all over the track for this one. You really have to moderate your speed and try not to rush through the turns. You'll find even though you struggle there is plenty of time to complete this area.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe `54, Sector 2 /Wet)
- Gold: 2`41`000
- Silver: 2`53`000
- Bronze: 3`22`000
Gold Tips: The turns are sharp here and it is very difficult to see them in both the rain and the dark. This section might take some practice to get used to the track; again don`t rush, you have plenty of time. Even if you are sliding into the walls left and right you should still be able to take bronze here.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe `54, Sector 3 /Wet)
- Gold: 2`24`000
- Silver: 2`35`000
- Bronze: 3`00`000
Gold Tips: You can power through the first section of track pretty well. Be careful around the wide bends though, it is still easy to lose control. Be careful around the hairpin and carousel turn and the last stretch has quite a few hard turns that you`ll need to moderate your speed for so you don`t hit the wall.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe `54, Sector 4 /Wet)
- Gold: 2`49`000
- Silver: 3`01`000
- Bronze: 3`32`000
Gold Tips: The technical area here is at the beginning, then you have a long straight stretch to ride through. It has a few gentle bends, but they can be taken at quite high speeds. Also, just before the finish line there is a series of sharp corners, make sure you moderate your acceleration to make it through
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (300SL Coupe `54, Full Lap /Wet)
- Laps: 1
- Gold: 9`43`000
- Silver: 10`24`000
- Bronze: 12`09`000
Gold Tips: The other cars in this lap make it twice as difficult. While they act as distractions, they also kick up a lot of water decreasing your visibility even further. It is really important to pass them as quickly as possible so you can see what`s coming up ahead. As with the rest of this section, take the turn slow, try to pick a good line and make sure to moderate your acceleration so you don`t spin your tires and lose control.

- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ’10 tuned car, Sector 1 /Wet)
- Gold: 1`40`000
- Silver: 1`47`000
- Bronze: 2`05`000
Gold Tips: This is a tuned car, but it’s like trying to drive a wet pig. The road is so slick that any braking you try to do will need to be done very early or you’ll just end up in the dirt. Do your best to stay on the road, and don’t worry too much about your speed. Getting used to how the car drives is important too.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ’10 tuned car, Sector 2 /Wet)
- Gold: 2`24`000
- Silver: 2`35`000
- Bronze: 3`00`000
Gold Tips: For the rest of these tracks just use what you’ve learned so far. Keep your speed down (counterintuitive) so you can make the corners. Visibility is bad, so you have to be careful and pay attention.
- Nurburgring Nordschleife (SLS AMG ’10 tuned car, Sector 3 /Wet)

Beginner
- Fine Gravel Rally
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: This is a generic oval track on dirt. Don’t over steer and keep your speed up throughout
- SS 2: You’ll be navigating a series of wide turns here, remember to brake on a straight line and practice your out-in-out driving to keep your steering input to a minimum.
- SS 3: The turns here are a bit more difficult, especially the sharp right in the middle of the track. Make sure not to carry too much speed into the corners and keep your steering moderate.
- Snow Challenge Rally
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: This track is very wide and very gradual. You can complete it with your throttle wide open as long as your steering is smooth
- SS 2: This course is wide open to start, then there is a very tight turn that you’ll need to brake heavily for. Don’t hit the wall whatever you do, it’s better to take the corner slower and lose a bit of speed than take the penalty for crashing. Moderate your speed on the wide left before the finish.
- SS 3: This track is also very wide open; there is a long straightaway in the middle then two tight successive corners before the finish line.
- Tarmac Challenge Rally
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: This is a series of wide turns, you’ll want to brake early and watch your driving line through them. Keep it as tight as possible to the apex to maximize your exit speed.
- SS 2: You’re going up and downhill here so the corners are almost all blind. Be careful going into them and be sure to moderate your acceleration out of them.
- SS 3: The turns on this track are mostly gradual and can be taken at high speeds. Watch your acceleration going around them, it is easy to drift off course if you accelerate too quickly out of the curve.
Intermediate
- Clubman Gravel Rally
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: The track is quite wide, and the turns are mostly gradual. If you moderate your speed enough you shouldn`t have to brake much to keep your time down.
- SS 2: This challenge has a few really tight turns that make it easy to hit the wall. Hitting the barrier costs you a ton of time so it`s better to drive cautiously and brake early.
- SS 3: This track is a pair of straightaways broken by a sharp turn in the middle. Be ready for the turn and power out of it.
- SS 4: In this track there is a series of tight successive turns then a long straightaway to the finish. Take it easy and watch your driving line through the first series, keep your exit in mind.
- SS 5: You start into a series of successive tight corners here, don’t accelerate too fast coming out of the turns or you’ll be out of control going into the next one.
- Alaskan Rally
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: You’re not as out of control on snow as you are on gravel. You will slide and drift further if you carry too much speed into corners, but you can take the corners tighter if you can moderate your acceleration. The first series of turns here is narrow and tight, be careful braking before the turns and pick a good exit line.
- SS 2: This track is very long, and almost the whole thing is successive turns. You’re going to want to moderate your speed for almost the whole track. Accelerate hard out of the corners and brake going in to them to try to pick up some speed on the short straight stretches.
- SS 3: If you thought things would ease up after the last track you’re going to be disappointed. This one is more of the same, more length, more turns and more difficult. There is barely any point opening up on the accelerator, instead focus on the turns – think one turn ahead and work on your exit line to get the most out of your acceleration and into the next turn.
- SS 4: Another long track. There are fewer series' of corners in this track, but they’re still there. You’ll also get some straightaways to build up speed. You will be driving up and down hill which will make the turns more difficult; make sure you compensate with your braking.
- SS 5: This track starts with a long wide open area where you can keep your throttle on full. The first turn is a tight sequence that will put you into the wall if you don’t brake early and hard. The middle section of the track is successive hard corners, moderate your speed through them.
Authors Note: Flipped my car over for the first time barrelling full speed into the first major corner. Was pleasantly surprised when it righted itself automatically and I was allowed to keep racing.
- Tuscany Tarmac Rally
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: This track is straight forward. There are a few long straightaways with slight bends and a pair of semi-tight turns in the middle. Be careful with your braking before the corners and pick a good exit line for accelerating out.
- SS 2: You start in a tight hairpin here, pick a good line to exit and pick up speed into the straightaway. This track is straight stretches broken up by technical turn sequences; you have to be careful through the turn sequences. Make sure to moderate your speed and not drift into the wall. Watch the turn just before the finish, make sure you slow down going into it.
- SS 3: This track is a series of gentle bends and turns, there is a moderate technical section in the middle of the track. Make sure to moderate your speed through the turns so you don’t drift off the track. Watch out for the last turn just before the finish line once more, it’s easy to hit the wall.
- SS 4: This track is very technical; there are multiple series of turns here, and they are almost all tight and difficult. Make sure to pick good exit lines through the series; think one turn ahead and know where you want to exit.
- SS 5: You’ll get some straightaways here, make the most of them. There are a few very difficult turn sequences to get through (right, left, right, left) so watch your speed coming out of turns as well as going into them.

- Gravel Master
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: Be aware that this is a dark track. You have a pair of straight stretches, then the rest of the track is left and right, twos and threes. You’re going to be back and forth all over the track. Remember over steering on dirt and carrying too much speed is going to send you into the wall one way or another.
- SS 2: This is a high speed track, the middle is a series of right hand turns, and the rest is just straightaways. Moderate your speed in the turns and power through to the finish.
- SS 3: You have a good straight stretch at the start to get some speed up, but be careful carrying too much speed into the hairpin. It’s easy to spin out through the tight turn. Moderate your speed through the rest of the gentle turns to the finish.
- SS 4: You’re introduced to a very technical left and right turn sequence for the first half of the track. Then you get a short straightaway, then another crazy turn sequence. The secret on gravel is to keep your steering and throttle inputs smooth and even, don’t try to power your way through this track, take it easy and be careful.
- SS 5: This track is a nice change, lots of straight stretches with only a few gentle turns. Remember to brake before turns, it’s easy to carry too much speed and drift into the walls here.
- SS 6: There are a few difficult turns here that are preceded by long straight stretches. Make sure you brake early going in to the turns to avoid sliding through them. You need to be accelerating out of the turns here to make the best of your time.
- SS 7: This track is just turn after turn, back and forth. Most of the turns are tight and they come quickly in succession. It’s very easy to drift into the wall or spin out on this track. Watch your speed and keep your steering smooth.
- SS 8: This is another very difficult technical track. It is all corners, back and forth. Mostly 1’s and 2’s right after one another. There is very little space to breathe and accelerate out so keep your speed manageable and stay focused.
- Snow Master
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: This is a very gentle introduction. There are two straight stretches broken up by one turn in the center that you have to watch out for. You can keep your speed up almost through this whole track. Just watch your steering inputs, it’s very easy to skid if you over steer.
- SS 2: This is a high speed track, there are gentle curves (they’re very wide) and only a few hard corners. There is a really sharp two turn in the middle of the track that you’ll need to slow down for quite early so you don’t hit the wall.
- SS 3: This course is one long, back to back, difficult turn series. Keep your exit line in mind as you take the corners, moderate your speed and try not to drift too much around them so you can set yourself up for the next corner.
- SS 4: This track is another long difficult turn sequence, compounded by the track undulating up and down making nearly every corner blind. You have to visualize the path you want to take through the corner and keep half an eye on the mini map to see what’s coming.
- SS 5: You get to start here on a high speed area for a short distance, then dive right back into successive turns. The first section of corners is a bit more gradual so you can take them slightly faster, but the second half is just as difficult as the last two courses. Watch your line and watch your speed.
- SS 6: The visibility is bad on this course, and there are some areas where you can pick up speed. Since you’ll be going a bit faster into the turns, be doubly diligent to slow down for them and pick a good exit line to maximize your acceleration through the straight stretches.
- SS 7: This is a high speed track with a few tight turns. Be extra careful through the turns, the track is tight and it’s easy to overshoot them. Power through the straightaways and moderate your speed into the bends.
- SS 8: This track is broken up into two distinct turning sequences. The first (hard) and the second (harder). Through the first sequence you’ll be up and downhill making the corners blind and difficult to see. There are back to back 1s and 2s going back and forth, so watch your speed to make it through here. The second sequence is much the same, but has a few small straight stretches to pick up speed.
- Tarmac King
- Gold: Best combined time
- Silver: Second best combined time
- Bronze: Third best combined time
Gold Tips:
- SS 1: This track has a few high speed areas, but for the most part you’re going to want to moderate your speed and brake hard going in to the sharp turn sequences. Moderate your acceleration out of the corners and try to stay on a smooth driving line to maximize your speed retention.
- SS 2: This track is wet so drive with a bit of caution. It is full of S curves; your strategy for them is to steer as little as possible and try to keep up a fairly straight driving line to get through them at high speeds. The faster you can take the tight successive turns the faster you complete the course.
- SS 3: The track is wet and hilly through this course. Drive cautiously through the corners and moderate your steering so you don’t slide on the wet road. Take the successive corners like you did in the last track – pick a good line and stick to it.
- SS 4: You start here on a high speed area, make the most of it. The turn sequence area here is tight and the corners are moderately difficult. You can moderate your speed through some sections, but make sure you brake hard for the right angled or hairpin turns.
- SS 5: It’s easy to get caught here trying to rush through. There are lots of areas to pick up speed, but the corners are all tight and you need to brake hard for them. Most of the corners are also blind so it’s hard to judge your driving line, be cautious more than aggressive here.
- SS 6: This is a high speed track, with rain coming down, so you still have to drive it cautiously. There is one minor turn in the center of the track that you’ll need to be careful and slow down for, but after that keep your speed up and make good time to the finish.
- SS 7: The track is wet and the lighting is bad for this track. There are some areas where you can’t see the road as you’re trying to corner. The best thing you can do is to drive cautiously and try to stay out of the wall. There are difficult corner series' that you’ll need to watch your line through, and keep your speed up when the track lets you. Just remember to keep your steering input smooth or you’ll drift on the wet track.
- SS 8: This is a high speed section in the dark. It is very difficult to see the road and very easy to hit the wall or spin out. Drive how you’re comfortable, the bends in the track are easily navigated at high speeds. You need to slow on the last corner before the finish.

- Eiger Nordwand Time Trial
- Gold: 1`17`000
- Silver: 1`19`000
- Bronze: 1`25`000
Gold Tips: You begin downhill into a series of tight corners, watch your speed, this car doesn’t like tight corners at high speeds. Also moderate your acceleration, it’s easy to overdo it and spin your tires, which will lose you time and likely cause you to hit the wall. The tight S curve before the finish is uphill, which makes it easy to misjudge your braking distance into the sharp right turn.
- Monza Circuit 2-Lap Battle
- Laps: 2
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: See “Classic Muscle Car Championship” for track tips. You’re in a tight fast car here, don’t be afraid to brake late heading into the corners. The chicanes are a great place to catch up and pass, you can cut across the second corner in both of the first two with positive results.
- Tuscan Night Race
- Laps: 1
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Fifth place
Gold Tips: You are playing catch-up here, but you have a lot of power under your hood. The real difficulty here is that it’s night time which makes it difficult to see the corners and track. You need to keep half an eye on your mini-map and prepare for what’s coming. If you want to react when you see it you’ll be too late. Don’t get distracted by the fireworks either, pay attention to the road.
- Tuscan Time Trial
- Gold: 1`54`000
- Silver: 1`56`000
- Bronze: 2`10`000
Gold Tips: Your goal here is not to drift through the corners. Take them slow and tight, you want to be on the inside of the corner at all times. If you find yourself drifting you are carrying too much speed.
- Rome City Course Street Battle
- Laps: 1
- Gold: First place
- Silver: Second place
- Bronze: Third place
Gold Tips: See “European Hot Hatch Championship” for track tips. You have great acceleration in this car off the line. Make your way up in the pack as quickly as possible. Late brake into the first turn and power through the wide bends, then late brake into the second turn and you should be in good shape to finish.

- Gold: 1`58`200
- Silver: 1`59`200
- Bronze: 2`00`700
Gold Tips: The timing on this track is very tight, you need to perform well to pass this. Take the turns slow and easy, cut across the inside corners and try to keep the car from drifting around the bends. Moderate your speed as much as possible and keep your throttle and steering inputs smooth and easy.
- Eiger Nordwand K Trail
- Gold: 4`08`900
- Silver: 4`09`900
- Bronze: 4`11`400
Gold Tips: The first series of turns is very tight and very easy to misjudge since they’re all blind going uphill. Don’t head into them with too much speed or you’ll hit a wall. For the rest of the track, practice moderation. Don’t take the corners too fast or you’ll skid and lose time. Try to keep up a bit of speed though so you aren’t always starting and stopping. The last pavement section can be taken at high speeds, so try to make up some time by cornering smoothly.
- Chamonix Main
- Gold: 4`16`500
- Silver: 4`17`500
- Bronze: 4`19`000
Gold Tips: This track requires more precision steering and less throttle control. You can go pretty fast on the snow track and still have good control of the car. You may get caught trying to over/under steer into the corners and carrying too much speed. Make sure you pick a good driving line through the corners and moderate your steering input to get the best out of your car.
