The graham cracker is a whole-wheat cracker that is sweetened with honey or molasses. It was created by the Reverand Sylvester Graham in New Jersey in the late 1820s and marketed as a health food. -
Variations on a Cracker Crust
The basic recipe of crushed graham crackers, sugar and butter can be altered in flavor by including cinnamon, cocoa powder or ground nuts or the graham cracker itself can be substituted with gingersnaps, vanilla wafers or Oreo cookie crumbles. -
