Storyline
The game takes place in the year 8010 near the planet Gradius. A self-regenerating entity called Bacterion, invades the planet in an attempt to take over. Vic Viper, a member of the Gradius Army, enters into battle and tries to destroy the Bacterion.Gameplay
Much like many scrolling shooting games, Gradius V features a small plane, piloted by Vic Viper, continuously moving forward. The goal is to reach the finish line, which usually includes a boss, all while destroying the enemies that stand in the way. While piloting the plane, power-ups in the form of orbs become available. The power-ups range from bombs to stronger guns. When you reach a new boss or progress into a stage you will have to complete a difficult if not impossible task, which range from dodging asteroids to flying though enemy hallways. There are numerous things coming at you like laser beams and enemy bullets that you need to dodge as you progress through the game. There are ships to battle as well in the universe, many taken from previous Gradius games, for example, the ship from the first game is a regular enemy here. Gradius V is a hard game to play from the first level and becomes virtually impossible without dying a few times before you can actually beat this game.-
