Academy Award-winning actress and eventual Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly worked in television and on Broadway before making her film debut in 1951; she appeared alongside Gary Cooper in the classic Western High Noon the year after for her second film appearance. 1953 saw her receive her first Oscar nomination, and she won for Best Actress in 1954 for The Country Girl.

Kelly met Prince Rainier III of Monaco while filming her third and final film with Alfred Hitchcock, To Catch a Thief. They married in 1956, and Kelly announced her retirement from acting to concentrate on her duties as princess. She died in 1982 at the age of 52 after suffering a heart attack while driving caused a mountainside accident.
