Governors Gone Wild

Categories: Politics | Governors
  • Governors Gone Wild is a buzz-term, circa mid-March, 2008, that refers to an abundance of alleged and admitted sexual misbehavior by former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, and former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey. McGreevey left office on November 15, 2004, three months after admitting to a sexual affair with a male employee. Spitzer left office on March 17, 2008, after admitting to hiring a prostitute. On the day Spitzer left office, a former aide to McGreevey named Theodore Pedersen claimed in an interview with the Newark Star-Ledger that he had enjoyed multiple three-way sexual encounters with McGreevey and his wife, Dina Matos McGreevey. Ms. McGreevey strongly denied that any such thing ever happened -- although her denials were shortly contradicted by McGreevey, who admitted taking part in three-way "Friday Night Specials" with her and Pedersen. Governors Gone Wild also covers the comparatively banal (some would say barely-in-the-game) March 17 revelation by the ascending New York Governor, David Paterson, that he had had an extramarital affair.
