The Hero earns its expansive moniker with a massive 170-degree field of view. No other camera comes close to that, possibly for a reason: We got motion-sick watching the road disappear below our motorcycle's front tire. (Skiers and snowboarders, however, say they dig it.) The Hero's clear-plastic casing protects the camera from shocks and up to 100 feet of water but blocked a little too much sound. http://www.wired.com/reviews/product/pr_goprohelmet_herowide

Another big but so far not useful thing on the new camera is the expansion port. they plan on offering a bigger back door for the case, so you can fit in an external LCD screen for replays or an extra battery pack. I like the idea. I'm thinking they could probably go ahead and work on making the camera smaller even if it costs a bit more, in the next generation, though. I like GoPro enough to use it, even though gadgets on the mountain or in the surf piss me off by way of distraction. Now that they've got mounts, higher resolutions and battery endurance covered, I think making it even smaller is the next step to making it more enjoyable. http://gizmodo.com/5396576/gopro-hero-hd-camera-review

The GoPro Hero Motorsports Wide is powered on by holding the power/mode select button. Next, a shooting mode is chosen by repeatedly pressing the mode select button. In video mode, the GoPro Hero is able to record up to an hour of video with sound at 512x384 pixels on a 2GB SD card. The card, of course, is not included.

The camera also features still photography modes. Interval mode captures about 1,940 5-megapixel still photos at intervals of 2 or 5 seconds on a 2GB SD card. There are also single-shot and timer-shot modes.

Finally, in the GoPro Hero's settings menu, users can adjust video playback mode (PAL or NTSC), auto-shutoff timers, and even set the Hero to rotate all captured images 180 degrees for those times when the unit is mounted upside-down. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/gopro-hero-motorsports-wide/4505-6501_7-33427941.html
