Google Sites

Google Sites allows users to publish content to create a website, either on their own domain or the Google domain. Content can be published by individuals or collaboratively by teams, with user administered permissions controlling who can work on and see what is published. Google Sites is part of Google Apps, so Apps files, as well as files from other Google websites (YouTube, Picasa) can be embedded in a created site.

History

The JotSpot hosted wiki application, designed to make business collaboration easier, was launched in 2004. Google purchased JotSpot in October 2006 and relaunched it as Google Sites in February 2008.
