  • Company History

    While PhD students at Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin started to develop what is now known as Google. Google started as a research project by the two who first called the search engine BackRub. The company was formally established in 1997 and went public on the NASDAQ in 2004. Since the company went public, it has developed a number products, such as: Google Maps, Google Earth, Google e-mail and Google News. the company has also made a number of major acquisitions, most notably purchasing YouTube in 2006.
