Gogol Bordello

Gogol Bordello is a gypsy punk band led by Ukrainian vocalist Eugene Hutz. The multi-ethnic band incorporates a disparate mix of genres, including cabaret and punk, all saturated in moody melodies and a comedic edge. The group is also known for its unique stage presence and engaging live showmanship.

Gogol Bordello frontman Hütz was born in the Ukraine near Chernobyl, and spent much of his childhood in European refugee camps after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster forced him and his family to flee. After emigrating to the US in 1990, he moved from Vermont to New York City and formed the band with Sergey Ryabtsev (fiddle), Oren Kaplan (guitar), Yuri Lemeshev (accordion), and Eliot Ferguson (drums). The band has endured minor lineup changes and recorded four full-length albums, which have been critically acclaimed.
