The Godless Americans Political Action Committee (GAMPAC) grew from the Godless Americans March on Washington held on November 2, 2002. Since its inception, the Godless Americans PAC has created a vehicle for atheists, freethinkers, secular humanists and other nonbelievers in America to promote and endorse political candidates who support a vision of a secular America.Official Site: About Us
Kay Hagan-Liddy Dole Race
In the 2008 election, Democrat Kay Hagan is challenging the seat of Sen. Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina. In October, Dole started to run an ad, entitled "Promises," alleging that Hagan attended a "secret fundraiser" held by the Godless Americans PAC and insinuating that Hagan made some unnamed "promises" in return to the group. Controversy has surrounded the ad, largely because of the use of an audio clip, not featuring Hagan's voice, that states "there is no God" on the soundtrack. The Hagan campaign has called the ad deliberately misleading.Fox News: Senate Candidates Battle Over Godless Ad (October 29, 2008)
