God of War Ghost of Sparta

God of War: Ghost of Sparta is the sixth installment in the God of War series, and will be released end of 2010 for Playstation Portable. The storyline of "Ghost of Sparta" will pick up right after the end of the original Playstation 2 God of War game.

Sony announced the planned Playstation Portable release of "Ghost of Sparta" on May 4, 2010. At the announcement, Sony also announced the game will be developed by Ready at Dawn Studios, the same studio responsible for the first PSP game God of War Chains of Olympus, in 2008. The game was announced on the European PlayStation Blog.

Together with the announcement of the upcoming release of "Ghost of Sparta", several screenshots of the game were released (see below), showing the game already being in its later stages of development.http://blog.eu.playstation.com/

On its blog, Sony stated about the storyline:

"So serving as a prequel, this new journey picks up after God of War concludes, telling the story of Kratos’ ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must face his dark past to prove his worthiness to the Gods — a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds, and finally answer long-awaited questions about Kratos’ tattoo, scar, and family. Armed with the deadly chained Blades of Chaos, he will once again have to overcome armies of mythological monsters, legions of undead soldiers, and amazingly dangerous and brutal landscapes throughout his merciless quest."'

Ghost of Sparta

"Ghost of Sparta" is the alter name of Kratos, the main character of the God of War series, because of his completely white appearance, and apparent lack of pigmentation. The reason for his appearance is revealed in a cut-scene in the first God of War game, in which Kratos is tricked by the then-God of War Ares into killing his own wife and daughter. He is then cursed by a village oracle, and the ashes of his family are cast upon his skin, leading to his nickname "Ghost of Sparta". These events lead to Kratos breaking his pledge to Ares, and explain his main motives in the game: revenge on those who betrayed him, and absolution from his past crimes.http://www.us.playstation.com/PS2/Games/God_of_War
