God of War: Chains of Olympus is a hack-and-slash action-adventure game developed by Ready at Dawn Studios for the Sony PSP handheld video game console. It is the third game in the God of War series created by David Jaffee, but is a prequel to the original game. The story takes place before the main God of War storyline, following Kratos as he battles monsters, gods, demigods from Greek mythology in order to save the world and carry out the orders of his Olympian masters.

Gameplay in the third person action-adventure is similar to that of its predecessors, focusing on gruesome and violent death scenes and drawn-out boss fights.

1. Red orbs power up Kratos' weapons and abilities
2. Gorgon eyeballs increase health
3. Phoenix feathers increase magic

1. Blades of Chaos, given to Kratos by Ares when Kratos agreed to serve him
2. Gauntlet of Zeus, a magical gauntlet that allows Kratos to unleash devastating punches
3. Sun Shield to block attacks, parry attacks and deflect projectiles

1. Efreet spell knocks out all nearby enemies
2. Light of Dawn throws balls of light
3. Charon's Wrath inflicts damage on several enemies
