In a recent media presentation, Sony announced that they will reveal the release date for God of War III at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3. About the Game

God of War III will be the final title in the God of War trilogy, which began in 2005. A PSP title, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and a game for mobile platforms, God of War: Betrayal, have also been released.
The engine for God of War III has been in development since 2005 and occurred parallel to the development of God of War II. Every effort has been made to make the gameplay, game environments and graphics fully exploit the capabilities of the PS3. Unlike the previous games, where the Titans were pretty much decoration and immobile, the Titans in GoW III are animated and colossal. Almost every location that the player sees while exploring can be reached and interacted with.
The combat system is still a central gameplay element of the game. Weapons have been revamped to make them exciting to use. Combos are powerful, but simple.
