Storyline
God of War 2 is an action-adventure game that follows the exploits of Kratos, a Spartan and the new Greek God of War. After killing Ares using Pandora's Box, Kratos has been sitting up on Olympus, sending his Spartans throughout the ancient world. The other gods, however, are getting uneasy with his bloodlust, and Athena warns him to stop his conquests, lest the rest of Olympus put a stop to him. After being betrayed by Zeus, Kratos embarks on a quest to change his fate. -

Controls
- Square is for light attacks, while Triangle is for heavy attacks. Typically, you'll start most attacks with Square. It's faster and opens up enemies for punishing combos. Use Triangle when you want to dish out heavy damage on slower enemies.
- Circle is a grapple button, which is typically used for either one-shot kills, or to initiate the timed button minigames which are key to getting through the bosses and other sequences later in the game. For the first few enemies, you can grapple them right off the bat. For tougher enemies, though, you have to weaken them until a Circle icon is spinning over their head.
- X is to jump and double-jump, which will be useful for getting around the game and dodging attacks. Later, you'll get Icarus' Wings, which will let you guide by holding the X button down after jumping.
- L1 is block, which will prevent damage for most of the attacks in the game. If you time a block right as the enemy is attacking, you'll push them off, opening them up for a counter. Later in the game, you'll get the Golden Fleece, which lets you counter melee attacks with a ground pound (hit Square after blocking) or reflect projectiles if you time the blocks right.
- The right analog stick lets you roll away from attacks, and together with blocking will get you through the tougher sections of the game. Certain enemy attacks, like those from the cyclopes, will be impossible to block.
- L2 activates magic, and works a little differently for some of the different spells. For Cronos' Rage and Atlas Quake, L2 fires off the spell, while for Typhon's Bane and The Head of Euryale, hold L2 to aim and hit Square to fire. The upgrades to the different spells add different techniques, which will be put into more detail below. Use the directional pad to pick the spell you want to use.
- R2 switches between your weapons. Pick the alternate weapon in the pause menu, then use R2 to alternate between that and Athena's Blades.

Weapons
- Athena's Blades: Throw all your red orbs into these until they're maxed out, because they're your main weapon. They have good range and speed, and a wide variety of attacks. You'll probably be using the basic "Hit Square repeatedly" combo most of the time. For the most part, you can structure combos however you like. Triangle is for heavier shots, but if you use Square to open the combo, you can move into the heavy hits quicker. As you upgrade them, you'll gain combo attacks used by holding L1 and hitting either Square, Triangle, or Circle. Tempting though it may be, refrain from using these against the bigger enemies. For the most part, the combos won't stun the bigger enemies. You can't cancel the attacks once they start, so you can't block or dodge out of the way. Alternatively, use them in the air, where you'll be able to dodge a lot of attacks just by being off the ground.
- Barbarian Hammer: This is for big, slow attacks. Be wary that you won't be able to dodge-roll when this is equipped, but the sheer power of the attacks is enough to obliterate most smaller enemies with only a few strikes. A concentrated attack with the hammer will stifle the gladiators and fat minotaur. Also, this weapon is great for smashing petrified enemies. When you upgrade it, you'll gain the ability to throw spirits out of the hammer with the right analog stick. This doesn't have much power, but does a semi-decent amount of damage. One of the hammer's most valuable attacks is L1+Triangle, which sends a shockwave out in front of you. This will be enough to knock down most smaller enemies, and can stagger some of the big guys.
- Spear of Destiny: This weapon is a good alternative to your normal blades. It's got comparable power and range, since the head of the spear extends and you get to keep the dodge-roll when you equip it. This weapon is partly based around explosions, which is another point in its favor. L1+Triangle with this will fire purple shards like a shotgun, which will get anything smaller than a cyclops out of your face. Upgraded, L1+Square will actually turn one of the enemies it hits into an explosive (they'll be tinted purple), which is great for crowd control. L1+Circle will slam the ground, leaving a small bomb where it hits, which can make a good trap.
- Blade of Olympus: Now we're talking. This is by far the strongest weapon in the game, but you'll only get it right at the beginning and end of the game. In Bonus Play, though, you'll keep it throughout and it will cut clear through most of the enemies you'll face. It doesn't have much in the way of range, but you'll be a walking blender with it in your hands. Before it's upgraded, you can use L1+Triangle to shoot a beam of light at your opponent. Upgrade it fully, and every swing will send such a blast out. This weapon pretty well unbalances the game, but it is fun to play with.
- The Golden Fleece: Technically this is not a weapon, but it lets you turn your defense into an offense by opening up counter to both melee and projectile attacks. Hit L1 when you're about to be hit, then hit Square to slam the ground and knock away whatever attacked you. Use it on projectiles to take the energy and throw it back at your attacker. This is key to defeating a couple of the bosses, especially Euryale, and will get you out of many a tight spot later on.
-
Magic
- Poseiden's Rage: You start the game with this one, and only keep it through the introduction unless you activated the Urn of Poseiden in Bonus play, then it replaces Cronos' Rage. It's a holdover from the previous game, and it's fully upgraded. When activated, it strikes Kratos and anything around him with a bolt of lightning, and you can hit Circle rapidly to increase the damage. It's good for crowd control, but a bit much for the enemies in the first mission. Instead, use it to get quick, strong hits on the Colossus.
- Typhon's Bane: This is the first magic you get after Zeus strips you of your powers. It's essentially a bow and arrow. hold L2 to aim, switch targets with the right analog stick, then hit Square to fire. It's good for racking up damage without having to put yourself in harms way, especially against the bigger enemies and bosses. It's also good for keeping up combos when you have to make a short retreat. Upgraded, it gains rapid fire and a couple more attacks: L1+Triangle which sends a small tornado shooting out at Kratos' feet for about 10-15 feet. Finally, there is L1+Circle, which makes an enormous tornado that will damage and toss around all the enemies in its path.
- Cronos' Rage: Activating this by hitting L2 will create a ball of lightning in midair, which will lash out and zap any enemies that get close. This is good for staggering crowds of smaller enemies, and helping to rack up huge combos. You can use it between your own strikes, or during. Once upgraded, it deals more damage, targets more enemies and with the highest upgrade it adds explosions. Overall the weapon is great for crowd control.
- Head of Euryale: This is just like Medusa's Head from the previous game: It creates a beam that will turn anything short of a boss into stone, and you use it just like Typhon's Bane. The amount of exposure (and duration) varies based on the type of enemy. Soldiers will turn into stone quickly and take a while to break out, while a cyclops will eat up half your magic and break out quicker. Upgrading it increases the effectiveness and adds a couple of attacks: L1+Triangle fires a quicker beam, like the second type of gorgons use. This will instantly petrify most smaller enemies, while others may take two or three shots. Regardless, it's quicker than the normal use. L1+Circle fires a slower moving ball of energy which will seek out a target and petrify it and anything close.
- Atlas Quake: This is the last spell you gain, and one of the more powerful. Use it by hitting L2, and Kratos will smash the ground, sending a quake out which will damage and knock over anything smaller than a cyclops. It's perfect for clearing out enemies when they start getting to close for comfort. Upgrading it increases the power and duration, with the highest upgrade letting you hit Circle repeatedly to send flaming rocks all around you. You're invincible for the duration of the spell, so you can use it to avoid damage and dish it out at the same time.
- Rage of the Titans: This isn't technically a spell, but it is a special ability so it warrants mentioning. Activate this with L3+R3, and Kratos will gain attack and defensive power. Also, his combos won't reset to zero. It works more or less like Rage of the Gods from the first game, with a couple notable differences. This time, you can activate it at any time if the bar is more than a quarter full. Also, you can switch it off instead of having to wait for it to run out. Lastly, in this mode Kratos' attacks actually change to a wide sweeping combo similar to the L1+Square attack when you hit Square, and an overhead combo for Triangle. Upgrading Athena's Blades will get you a couple of new attacks for Rage of the Titans. In one, you can hold Square to continually spin the blades around Kratos for much longer than normal. You can also hit L1 to activate a fire blast all around Kratos, the power of which depends on the combo counter. Rack up a ton of hits, then use it to finish off anyone who's managed to survive. Gaia upgrades this during your fight with the Kraken, but it's hard to tell just what this upgrade does.

The Powers of a God
- NOTE: The videos embedded below are taken from various sources around the web, and so may present an alternative strategy to our written walkthrough.
- YouTube: God of War 2 Chapter 1 (Time: 9:57)
- You gain control of Kratos in a closed off room with a handful of enemy soldiers. You'll notice that Kratos' health and magic bars are full, and Athena's Blades are at their maximum level. Also, Poseidon's Rage is maxed, one of the spells from the previous game. In short: these enemies should pose no threat to you at all. Take a moment to get yourself used to the controls as you take them out.
- Once you've gotten used to the controls, slaughter the enemies at your leisure with either combos or the Circle button.
- Head over to the gate. Hit R1, then rapidly tap the Circle button to open up the gate. Head on through, and take out the soldiers. The Colossus outside will shove its hand through the wall, killing the soldiers cowering there. It will then pull out, so don't bother attacking it. Just head on through the new hole.
- Hold R1 to open up the health chest if you need it, and be sure to break down all the scenery to get some red orbs. You'll use red orbs later to level up your attacks and magic.
- Head up the ladder.
- When you see the Colossus winding up, jump off the balcony, or you'll take damage. Fight off the soldiers charging at you and attack the Colossus' hand whenever it's in range. When you've done enough damage, the Colossus will recoil back, stunned. Do this a couple more times, and he'll slump over, releasing some green and blue orbs.
- Take this opportunity to run over to the catapult on the platform to the left and launch the rock at him. Then, hit R1 again and Kratos will load himself into the catapult. Hammer on Circle to cock it. Hit the buttons that pop up during the minigame, and Kratos will perform some acrobatics before stabbing the Colossus in the eye. Afterwards, Kratos will be launched across the city into a bathhouse.
-
The Baths
- Hold X or Triangle to surface, and knock down the dividers around the edges of the pool. Behind the divider on the right, you'll find a couple of scantily dressed women. At this point, you can engage in a minigame of sorts. Hit Circle to initiate it, and if you do well you'll be rewarded with a bunch of red orbs. After you're finished, dive into the pool and head through the tube until you get to a grating. Hold R1 to charge up Kratos, who'll then head-bash his way through the grate.
- You'll surface in the next room. Swim over to the only platform you can reach and head up the ladder. Save if you want, then pull the lever up against the wall. Walk to the edge of the platform and hit R1 to swing from the anchor point. Hit X to let go and jump across. Hop up the walls, then open up the grate.
-
Back Into The Fray
- Once through, you'll find another handful of soldiers. Again, easy pickings. Climb up the ladder and approach the next bunch of enemies. Before you reach them, the Colossus will stomp on you, so hammer the Circle button to throw him off.
- If you need either health or magic, head to the left and open up the chest. Just wait for it to turn the color you want before you hit R1, then start climbing the wall.
- Once on the wall, you can climb faster by holding a direction and hitting X. This will cause Kratos to throw himself along the wall in that direction. Head up and around the new breaks in the wall.
- TIP: Before climbing all the way up, go all the way to the left on the wall, after it curves. Jump off and get the red orb chest. Always keep a lookout for chances to go off the beaten path like this.
-
Sub-Boss: Colossus
- Climb to the top, where you'll once again face the Colossus. Jump down from the wall you're on, and get ready to fight. This is a little tougher than last time, so make sure to dodge or block his attacks.
- The Colossus has several different attacks here. If you're out of range of his other attacks, he'll shove his right forearm at you. Roll under the arm to dodge it.
- He'll also rear back and then punch his left hand toward you. To dodge, roll to the left so you're in front of him. In the second part of his attack he'll swing his arm backwards.
- After you do enough damage to get orbs out of him, he'll slam both fists on the ground. This is hard to avoid. Either run away and double-jump at the last moment, or use Poseidon's Rage to avoid damage and attack him at the same time.
- If you go all the way to the end of the platform, he'll punch down at you with his left arm. Just get out of the way by running or rolling. His attacks are reversed on the other side of the platform, but are otherwise the same.
- Wail away at any limbs he puts into range with his attacks. Also, attack his right hand as it rests on the wall while he's not attacking.
- This is a good opportunity to use Poseiden's Rage.
- TIP: You're invincible while using Poseidon's Rage, so you can use it to avoid damage. Make sure to hammer on the Circle button when you use it to ramp up the damage.
- When you've dealt him enough damage, swing over the gap and run over to his arm to start another timed button minigame. This will net you some health and magic.
- Repeat the process from this side of the area. The minigame will play out the same, except this time the Colossus will grab Kratos.
- Alternatively, hit L1 and R1 to fight out of the grip. The Colossus will fling Kratos across the city again.
-
The Palace
- Use the chest here to refill your magic if you need it, then hop up and open the door. Once through, head to the right to get out of the way of the archers.
- Save if you want, then head down the hallway to the right of the save point, slaughtering the soldiers as you go.
- When you hear "Show no mercy!" get ready to block, because the archers are about to open fire. They don't have a grate protecting them, so when they stop firing run over and kill them.
- In this room, you'll find a statue on top of a movable block. Destroy the statue on top, then put the block on the pressure switch, opening the grate.
- While holding the block, hold X and Kratos will charge up a kick and then let go to kick the block into the next room. Have Kratos stand on the pressure switch, then roll forward before the grate closes.
- Before you go forward toward the health chest, bring the block over to the right, then forward. Use the block to get up to the three chests. The one in the middle gives you the Urn of Gaia, which you can use during Bonus Play. Grab the red orbs from the other chest, then bring the block back to the switch.
- Grab the health if you need it and massacre the soldiers heading towards you.
- Grab the red orb chest in the little alcove next to the elevator, then head up.
- As you move toward the window, you'll spot the Colossus playing Peeping Tom. Attack the eye until he gives you some space. Head forward, and Zeus will tell you about the Blade of Olympus.
- Now, jump up onto the end of the wall, and Kratos will hug it. Move to the right, and double-jump so he grabs onto the ledge. Climb up, then jump up again to get on top of the wall.
- You'll see another group of soldiers. Eliminate them. These soldiers spawn infinitely, and the archers can be a pain if you just hang back. Just mow them down and head forward. Once at the end, hit R1 to kick open the door. Refill your health with the chest if you need to.
- Break through the window and head through. Before you go across the beams, hop down and take out the soldiers, then the archers up on the wall. They'll just knock you off the beams if you don't.
- Climb back up the ladder, and start heading across the beams, using the analog stick to keep Kratos balanced. If you fall off, just hit X to pull yourself back up.
- When the beams turn to the right, double jump to the right to get some red orbs. Either jump back across from the chests to the beams, or just drop down and start back at the ladder.
- Make your way to the save point, then climb up the ladder. In the next room, there's nothing to do but hop down the hole, where you'll find 4 soldiers. After they're dead, refill your health and magic at the chests and open the gate.
-
Taking Down The Colossus
- YouTube: God of War 2 Colossus Boss Fight (Time: 7: 14)
- Once you're through the gate, run. The Colossus will knock down the pathway you're on, and if you don't make it across, it's game over.
- Once you're across, you'll see the Blade of Olympus on the ground, along with the Colossus' severed hand. Ignore the hand for now, and focus on the big guy.
- He has a couple of new attacks. With his left stump, he'll jab the platform, sending energy along the ground at you. This energy is easy to dodge if you're far enough back, as it will always curve around where you're standing. If you're up close when he does it, just move to the left or the right of where the stump hits. #He also pounds the ground with his right fist, so avoid the center of the platform and jump when he winds up.
- Lastly, he'll sweep the platform with his right arm before sending out a shockwave. You will need to jump over this.
- To damage him, just attack from the edge of the platform. You don't have to wait for his arms to be in range this time. Again, Poseidon's Rage works wonders here. #When you've stunned him, run back to the Blade of Olympus and hold R1. You'll lose your upgrades to Athena's Blades and all the red orbs you've collected so far. This is unfortunate, but there's not much you can do about it.
- Once that's done, attack him again until he's stunned. Go ahead and wail on him with your magic, since you'll lose it anyway when you go to charge up the blade.
- Without your leveled-up Blades or Magic, it would be harder to stun him the normal way. Instead, just go over to his severed hand and hit R1. This will stun him instantly, then go back to the Blade and pour your health into it.
- Now Kratos is back to where he was at the beginning of the first game. Fortunately, you do have the Blade of Olympus, which is the strongest weapon in the game. Run up and start wailing on the Colossus' arm. He has a flamethrower attack with his stump, but it doesn't do much damage. Just hammer away at the right arm until he slumps over, then hit Circle to chop a hole in his side and dive into the colossus.
- Hop up on the wooden scaffolding, and chop your way through the guards. Make your way down the path, jumping across any gaps you come across. Make sure not to touch the blue, glowing girders.
- Keep heading forward until your path is blocked by a gap with a girder in its center. Head toward the center, and jam the Blade into the joint to destroy the blue girders.
- Hop across the gap, then climb up the netting. Keep heading up.
- When you get to the end of the line, jump up onto the rope hanging across the Colossus. Head across the rope, and hit R1 to drop once you're on the other side.
- Continue moving counterclockwise and jump up on the scaffolding. Walk down the planks, and hang a left. Attack the chains around the center to destroy them, then jam the blade in again.
- Get back onto the planks and then head down the path you just unblocked. Use the green chest if you need to. Keep moving around the path, up another bit of netting and you'll find yourself in the Colossus' chest.
- Kill the soldiers here, then hug the wall to move around the center of the Colossus. You'll find the way blocked by another girder. Hit R1 to have Kratos hang down under it, then continue around.
- Hit X once you're on the other side to climb back up. Hop up to the center joint, destroy the chains and jam the Blade in again. You'll see a rope is revealed once the girders fall. Climb up to the Colossus' head.
- Jump from the rope to the platform, and head clockwise until you get to a ladder. Climb up, then hit the switch to lower the pendulum.
- Jump back down and hit the pendulum so it starts swinging. Once it is, climb back up, hit the switch again and jump onto the rope going across the face.
- Use the pendulum to block the beams heading toward the eyes to get across. Head around counterclockwise until you get to the center joint. Break the chains and jam the sword in. Now, quickly, run around the platforms and jump out of the mouth as the place crumbles.
-
Zeus' Betrayal
- After ranting against the gods, Kratos is slammed down by the Colossus' death throws. Move toward the Blade of Olympus. Before you get there, Zeus will arrive in the form of an eagle and take the sword.
- This is a hopeless fight. In Kratos' injured state, he can't move fast enough or even get an attack off before Zeus does, no matter what you try. He'll throw you to the ground, and you'll enter another button-mashing minigame. This, too, is hopeless, as Kratos is just too weak to fight back. Zeus jams the sword through Kratos' chest, killing him and sending him down to Hades.
-
Out of Hades
- Of course, this wouldn't be much of a game if Kratos stayed dead. After the cutscene, you'll find yourself climbing out of Hades. Chop away at the hands with Square and Triangle and climb up. Jump to the right, then up again.
- Fight your way through the hands until you reach the surface.
- The hole will close up behind you. Search the bodies until you find the last surviving Spartan at the battle. He'll be to the left of where you climb out, squirming on the ground.
- After Kratos sends him on his way, Pegasus will show up. Save your game if you want, then climb on.
-
Take To The Skies
- Climb onto your new steed and he'll take to the air. After Kratos yells at the horse for a bit, Gaia will tell him where he has to go.
- You'll find yourself attacked by a flock of griffins. Use Square and Triangle to fight them off. X will make the Pegasus dash forward, ramming anything in front of you. You can use R1 and L1 to ram anything to the right or left of Kratos. After you've done enough damage to one, you can hit Circle to have Kratos leap onto its back and chop its wings off.
- After a little while, the griffins up ahead will start shooting energy at you. Dodge it as well as you can by moving to the sides and up and down, then dash forward to take them out.
- After awhile, you'll be attacked by an eagle, which will try to ram you. Hit X to dash at him. You'll enter a short button minigame in which Kratos will snap its neck.
- Next, you'll be attacked by another giant bird with a rider wielding the Spear of Destiny. You'll enter a high-speed chase, in which he will fire bolts of energy at you with the spear. Dodge to the side to avoid them and wave the analog stick if you get sent into a dive.
- No matter what you do, you can't dodge the last shot he fires, which will send you down toward Typhon's cave. Fly on through and attack the harpies that get in your way. Collect the extra orbs.
- You'll find yourself in front of the Titan Typhon. After a short trip around the chamber, he'll knock you out of the sky, pinning Pegasus under his hand. The harpies here shouldn't give you much trouble. Either use jumping attacks, or hit Circle to rip their wings off.
- YouTube: God of War 2 Flight to Typhon's Lair (Time 6:45)
-
The Frozen Titan
- Once the harpies are grounded, drop down to the left. When you're level with the Titan's fingertips, head to the right past the green chest. Grab it if you need it, then head down the climbable wall.
- From here, drop down to the left and open the unmarked chest containing a Gorgon Eye. Then open the red chest for some orbs.
- Go back up and attack the Titan's fingertip in your way. Head around to the left, then down the wall.
- You'll be attacked by satyrs on the wall. These enemies are a little tougher than the soldiers in Rhodes, but not by much. Either use your normal attacks or the grab to get them out of your way.
- Continue heading down, then to the right, jumping across the gap. Head up onto the ceiling and keep following the path until it heads down again.
- Once you're back on solid ground, save if you want, then head forward.
- You'll be attacked by a minotaur and a handful of harpies. Take out the harpies, then go after the minotaur. His attacks are stronger than what you've faced so far, so dodge whenever he's swinging his axe or looks like he's about to charge. Attack when you see an opening and hit Circle when the icon appears. This will allow you to head-butt him and jam your blades down his throat to get some health.
- Open the green chest if you need it, then keep moving forward.
- Grab the red chest back by the wall, then destroy the cage hanging on the chain. Jump up and slide down the chain, then move forward. Don't hit R1 near the glowing point yet, or you'll just throw yourself right back up where you came from.
- Once you're outside, the door will lock behind you and you'll be faced with a bunch of undead archers. Either jump up onto their platforms and attack, or just attack the platforms themselves. This will bring them down to your level.
- You'll also be attacked by another minotaur, so take out the archers first, then concentrate on him using the same strategy as before. Note that you'll have more options when you grab the archers. For example, you can use Square to throw them at other enemies.
- Once that's taken care of, jump up onto the cliff, then head to the left, hugging the wall. Double-jump onto the next cliff, and climb up. Open the red chest and the green chest if you need it, then slide down the chain.
- Walk down the arm to meet Prometheus. After the cutscene is over, attack Prometheus until he falls, dangling over the fire. Drop down the chain hanging between Typhon's pinky and ring finger, then head around to the right. You can't do much with Prometheus just yet.
- You'll see a cliff you can reach on your left, but don't worry about that for now. There's a green chest up there, but you shouldn't need it at this point.
- Climb around and down the wall, taking care of the satyrs in your way. Grab the red chest once you're on the ground, and save if you want.
- Head to the right, and plow through the next set of satyrs. Before you head up the wall, open the unmarked chest against the back wall for another Gorgon Eye.
- Climb up the wall, then go into the cave at the top. Head down the hall and grab the red and green chests if you need them. Hit R1 near the gap to launch yourself up to the higher platform.
- You'll see a chest behind a gate. To get the chest, head to the right by the rope hanging over the gap you just crossed. Slide down it to open the gate, then hit R1 before you reach the end to launch yourself back the chest for a Phoenix Feather.
- Head down the hall to the right until you get to a small cliff. Jump up the small cliff, then move forward.
- You'll be attacked by a Gorgon. These guys are quick, so be ready to block at pretty much any time. Also, they can turn you to stone with their green eye-beams. When they use this, just keep rolling until they're done and you'll avoid being petrified.
- If you do get turned to stone, waggle the analog stick rapidly to break out before she shatters you. Once you've done enough damage, hit Circle to wrench her head off. Once you're done with the first, two more gorgons will attack you. Use the same tactics against them.
- A handful of harpies will fly over during the fight. Rip off their wings when they do.
- Once the gorgons are dead, attack the shining pillar until it shatters. Head down the slope and open up the chests. Use the save point if you wish, then head forward into Typhon's Cavern.
- YouTube: God of War 2 - Prometheus' Curse (Time 5:42)
-
Typhon's Cavern
- YouTube: God of War 2 Typhon's Cavern (Time: 5:58)
- As you move forward here, Typhon will keep trying to blow you off the platforms. If you've got something solid protecting you, you'll be alright. Just be careful if there isn't anything to stop you from falling off the back of the platform.
- You'll be attacked by harpies here. Make sure you're safe from Typhon's breath before you attack them.
- Move down the pathway. Be careful of the titan's bellowing and take out the harpies as you go. They don't stop spawning, so just keep moving forward. The path will curve toward the camera, but the situation doesn't change. Eventually, you'll get to a wider platform. You'll see another shiny pillar. Ignore it for now and head down the path to the left.
- You'll see a bunch of satyrs and a fire pit. Throw the satyrs onto the pit to stoke the fires until the ice surrounding the chests thaws out. Finish off whatever satyrs are left and open the chests, one of which contains a Phoenix Feather.
- Head back toward Typhon.
- Attack the shining pillar until it breaks, then hit R1 to make it into a bridge. Wait until Typhon stops blowing, then run up the bridge, hitting R1 at the end to get Typhon's Bane. Turn around and shoot Typhon in the eye as he's blowing to stun him, then run back down the bridge, which will crumble once you're on the other side.
- You'll be attacked by more satyrs here. Use your grabs to kill them, then use Typhon's Bane to take care of the archers. Head to the right and shoot the cage hanging from the stalactite, then use R1 to swing across. You can either shoot the archers before you start swinging, or swing over first take them out up close and personal.
- Destroy the rocks laying around for extra red orbs, then head forward, exiting the cavern the way you came in. Save if you want, then head forward. There'll be a couple new chests after you slide down the chain, so refill your health and magic if you need to.
- Once you're back outside, shoot down the cage blocking the grapple point, then swing across. You'll land on that platform with the green chest I told you to ignore before. Drop down, and shoot Prometheus down from the chain. You'll absorb his ashes, and get Rage of the Titans. You'll be attacked by a pair of minotaurs and some satyrs, so try your new ability out on them by hitting R3 and L3. Rage of the Titans halves the amount of damage you take, and ramps up the speed and strength with which you attack, so it's handy if you're ever overwhelmed. Once you beat the first two minotaurs, a third will pop up, so finish it and the rest of the satyrs off.
- Jump back up to the platform with the green chest, and open it if you need to. Shoot the target hanging above the platform, and climb up the rope, and jump to the next platform. Head to the right, an jump up another couple levels. Head to the left, and jump onto the chain hanging down. Slide down, and jump into the cave here. You'll find two red chests, and one chest with a Gorgon Eye.
- Climb back up the chain, then head to the back wall. Jump onto it, and follow the path to the left. It leads to another cave, this one with one red chest, one with a Phoenix Feather, and one with red and blue orbs. Head back to the platform, and jump onto the chain suspended across the gap. Move across and take care of the satyrs that attack you. Once across, drop down from the platform, landing back where you first exited the cave.
- You'll need to use Rage of the Titans to break down the door, so if you haven't built it back up, use the chest next to the door, then break it down. Head inside and kill the satyrs that come at you. Swing across the gap, then head to the left. Keep moving forward, and you'll be attacked by more satyrs near the save point. Take'em out, and save if you need to.
- Climb up the wall and across the ceiling, taking out the satyrs along the way. Once you're back where Typhon's hand is, use Rage of the Titans and attack the fingers until they get off of Pegasus. If you don't have enough, attack the fingers in normal mode until you build it up. Once the hand is up, jump up to where Pegasus is and mount up.
-
Back On The Horse
- Fly out of the cavern, and you'll find yourself back flying the unfriendly skies, heading toward the island. A flock of mounted griffins will come at you, but this time you can fire at them with Typhon's Bane. They're hard to hit, so dodge their attacks for now. Once they've made their pass, you'll be attacked by a bunch of harpies. Kill them with your blades and keep flying.
- After the harpies buzz off, you'll be attacked by the griffins again. Dodge the ones shooting at you, and attack the ones up close. The riders might try and jump onto your horse, which will send you into another button minigame to throw them off. If they miss, or don't jump, just kill the griffin like you did before, just note the timed-button part is a bit longer if the rider's still on.
- After a while, your buddy with the Spear of Destiny will show up again. Get up close to him and wail away with the blades. He'll swing the spear (which extends) at you, or fire a shotgun like blast of ice at you. Do your best to dodge them by either moving away or up and down. Do enough damage, and he'll pull ahead of you. Hit X to ram into him and keep up the attack.
- Eventually, you'll go into another high speed chase, and he'll send energy bolts at you again. Like before, time slows down when he fires, so you have a good chance to see where they're heading and dodge.
- Once you're back to normal speed, he'll ram into you, starting another minigame to finish him off. You'll end up in a sky dive, and you'll have to time another button press to swing yourself onto the climbable wall.

The Temple of Lahkesis
- Climb up the wall until you're on top of it. Then, head to the left to find two chests, one with a Phoenix Feather, one with red and blue orbs. Head back to the right and save if you want, then climb up the ladder, then around the ceiling, then up the wall. You'll be attacked by a pair of satyrs. These are a new type, stronger than before, so you can't just grab them right off the bat. Otherwise, use the same strategy as before: Dodge the attacks, and wail on them when there's an opening.
- After you've finished them off, jump up on the platform on the right side of the wall and climb up the ladder. Up top, you'll find a few Cerberus pups. You can either attack them normally, or just keep using the grab to kick them at eachother. Either way, they're not much of a challenge, just be careful if they swarm up on you. Once you're done, grab the green chest if you need it, and break the hanging skeletons to get some extra red orbs. Toward the back, you'll find two red chests.
- Hanging from one of the chests is a dead body. Knock it down, then pick up the body, and carry it back to the switch near where you came up. Put it down, and flip the switch. In the room below, use the body to hold down the pressure switch, then grab the switch against the wall. Pull it back to open the second gate, then run through before it closes. Head to the left, and kick down the drawbridge. Head forward, and you'll get some more backstory from Gaia.
- Head around the right side of the doorway you just went through, and you'll find a Gorgon Eye. Head back around to the left, but be quick because the ground will give out from under you. Keep moving to the left, then jump through the gap in the railing. Jump down and you'll be attacked by a Cerberus and his pups.
- Like before, you can punt the pups at other enemies. Use them to get some quick damage on the big dog. The big one has a few attacks. Usually, he'll swipe at you with his claws or bite at you. Just block or roll out of the way. He'll also charge at you, and you can block this too. Occasionally, he'll shoot three fireballs at you, one from each head, so dodge roll to the side to avoid it. He can also pin you down if you're not careful; if this happens, waggle the analog stick to kick him off. Use your normal combos whenever you see an opening. The pups aren't infinite, but there are a lot of them, so don't waste time trying to wipe them out first. Just attack them or kick them at the big one if they get close to you.
- When you do enough damage, use the Circle button to rip off one of his heads, then repeat the process until it happens again. When you rip off a head, he releases yellow orbs, which refill Rage of the Titans, so go ahead and use that if you want. After three rounds, he'll be out of heads, so refill your health and magic if you need to at the chests.
- Over on the far side of the area, you'll see four statues. Break them all for extra red orbs. The third one from the left will drop a block you can use to get to the platform the Cerberus entered from. Jump through, and take care of the pups that attack you. Use the red chest, and save if you want. Head left past the save point, and through the gap between the railing and the wall onto the climbable wall.
- Slide all the way down, and head to the left. Use the green chest if you need it, and grab the red chest. Head up the ladder between the chests and onto the ceiling. A few satyrs will attack you, and you should know what to do. Break through the shining bits of concrete and continue forward. Take out the next set of satyrs, then keep going until the ceiling tiles lead you up the wall.
- Use Typhon's Bane to nail the archers across the way, and grapple the dogs and the satyrs. Head to the right, then jump the gap to where the archers were standing. Head to the left, and jump onto the platform. Use the chest if you need either health or magic, then head to the right. You'll be attacked by some satyrs and archers, so take care of them in your usual idiom.
- Once they're dead, head into the elevator and head down. Move into the next chamber, and you'll be attacked by a siren. You have to use them to break open the door. They're quick, and have a homing long range attack, so make sure you're ready to dodge roll and block if you see their attacks coming. They also have a scream attack that stuns you, and you have to waggle the analog stick to snap out of it. They have a tendency to block your melee attacks, so you might just want to hammer them with Typhon's Bane until the Circle icon pops up. Once it does, grapple her.
- Two more sirens will pop up once the first is dead; fight them the same way as the first one. If you grapple one, the scream will kill the other, and two more will pop up. After you've killed three of them through the grapple, the door will crumble. Use the green chest if you need it, and head through.

The Steeds Of Time
- Through the door, there's a save point and a blue chest. Use them if you want, and head forward across the chain. You'll get a marvelous view of the island as you make your way across. Once you're at the Steeds, climb up the wall to the left. Head forward, and you'll find green and blue chests and a locked door. You can't do anything with the door, so keep moving until you get to the switch.
- Pulling the switch lowers one of the ropes you passed on the way up. Head over to it and jump up to slide across it. You'll see a man working at the door. Approach him to start the game's first boss fight.

-
Boss Fight: Theseus
- YouTube: God of War 2 Theseus Battle (Time: 9:33)
- Theseus is armed with a double bladed staff. During this first part of the fight, he'll use some combos on you. Either block or dodge this stuff, then counter when he's recoiling. He'll also try to impale you with a stab. You can block this too. If you don't, you'll go into a minigame so you can turn the tables on him. Keep up the attack, and eventually he'll power up his weapon. His attacks will mostly stay the same, so keep up the same strategy. He does gain one new attack, where he'll run away from you, then jam his staff into the ground, causing ice crystals to shoot up out of the ground. Keep your distance and watch for the breaks in the ground to dodge it.
- Eventually, he'll retreat to the archway overlooking the platform and start shooting energy bolts at you. Dodge them, and fire Typhon's Bane at Theseus whenever you get the chance. Eventually, he'll summon a pair of minotaurs. Take them on like you did the others, which gets you some health and magic, and be wary of Theseus's attacks. He'll fire the occasional bolt at you, and cause more ice crystals to shoot up out of the ground. Keep shooting at him, and he'll yell, restarting the attack pattern. Keep up the same strategy as before.
- Keep firing at him until he falls off, then run up and hit Circle to finish him off with another minigame. Now that he's dead, you take the Horse Keeper's Key.
-
Horse Master
- Head through the door, open the red chest, and refill your health or magic if you need to. Read the book toward the back, then head out of the room to the right. Climb the ladder, then get the red chest toward the front of the horse. Head up the stairs, then climb up to the platform in the middle for another red chest. Jump up and grab the rope to slide back to where you first got to the Steeds.
- Open the door you passed earlier and into the chamber within. Put the key in the pedestal to get Cronos' Rage. You'll be attacked by a bunch of enemies, but you'll also temporarily have infinite magic, so test out your new toy on them. This one's mainly good for racking up high combos, but is still pretty damaging.
- Once they're all dead, the gates around the room will open. Head to the left, climb the ladder, then go to the right. Climb the platform in the middle, and get the red chest. Save if you want, then head down the pathway to the right to get a Phoenix Feather.
- Head down the pathway to the left, now, and you'll see four switches. Turn the red one first, then head to the right. Kill the harpies, then climb up the wall and jam the key into the device there. You have to be quick since it closes, so you might want to take care of the harpies first. Once that's done, head back to the switches and pull the green one. Head to the left and climb the wall. Jump up to the device there, and jam the key in. Before you head back to the switches, head toward the horse's snout to get a Gorgon Eye.
- Now, you can do either the yellow or the blue one, the order doesn't matter. In either case, pull the switch, then climb up the first horse. Run toward the harpy hovering between the horses and use R1 to swing across to the far horse. Jump up the head, and jam in the key before the socket closes. You'll have to fight a couple harpies on the yellow horse, but you can take care of them after you use the key.
- Once all four horses are unlocked, head to the center and unlatch the platform. When you're ready, use R1 to start whipping the horses. The monumental beasts will start pushing forward, pulling the island closer to the Temple of Lahkesis. Once they're finished, backtrack to the chains. On your way back, you'll be attacked by satyrs and minotaurs in front of the door where you got Cronos' Rage. Take them out and the gates locking you in will open. A lone satyr will be waiting for you by the chains, so waste him and head across.

Temple of Lahkesis Part II
- Once you're across the chains, jump onto the wall and break the debris in your way. Head around to the right, save at the save point if you want, and head in through the big hole in the wall. There will be some bugs hovering around inside. They don't pose much of a threat, but if you grab them, you can throw them like a grenade. Throw one at the back wall to knock it down, revealing a red chest.
- Jump up the waterfalls. On the right side of the top of the room, there's a red chest on the overhang. Get it, then head to the left, across the waterfall. Jump to the gap in the wall, then head around the outside wall. You'll find another one of those bugs. Kill it, then start climbing across the wall.
- Head to the left at the first fork and jump across the gap. Once on the platform, go around the wall to find a red chest, a chest with red and blue orbs, and a Gorgon Eye around the second wall. You'll be attacked by more bugs here, so take them out and head back to the climbable wall.
- Head down at the fork and descend the wall until you get to a platform. Head to the right, and follow the climbing wall down and to the left. You'll reach what looks like a dead end, but is in fact a breakable wall. Bust through it and get the chest to get a Phoenix Feather, then head back up.
- Now, head to the left on the platform. Before you go in the doors, head around to the left and get the red chest. Kick the door open, and head into the room. You'll see a pressure switch that lowers the statue's hands. There's nothing to weigh it down with, and you can't get to it in time, so just ignore it for now.
- Jump down to the left, and you'll find a switch that starts opening the gate in the middle, but doesn't work. Toward the near end of the room is another pressure switch that raises the platforms on either side. Again, there's nothing to weigh it down with, so you can't use it just yet.
- Instead, jump into the pool in the middle and pull the centerpiece away from the middle. Swim down through the hole that's created, and use R1 to break through the wall underneath. Once you're through, head to the statue and hit R1 to get the Amulet of the Fates. Now, if you block and hit R1, you can slow down time around you as long as a statue of Lahkesis is facing you and has a glowing green object in it.
- Swim back to the other room, and stand on the pressure switch. Use the amulet once the platforms are raised, and jump up to the top of the room. Now, run back to the pressure switch on this level, and use the amulet to reach the hands before they raise back up. You'll have a quick conversation with the statue before Kratos gets angry and bashes it in. Once the cutscene's over, finish the job with a few strikes.
- Jump down, and before you head through the window, collect the chests on either side of the statue you just defaced. You'll get a red chest and a Phoenix Feather. Now, head through the window and jump down into the courtyard. You'll be attacked by a couple wraiths. With the statue's head in the back, you can use the amulet to do some Prince of Persia style slow-motion ass kicking. Otherwise, your regular strategies should work on them. Wraiths are quick movers and have a special attack where they burrow under the ground and come up under your feet. You can block this pretty easily if you see it coming. Alternatively, you can keep grabbing and throwing them for an easy kill.
- Once you kill a couple Wraiths, a couple more will join the fray, along with some more (non-exploding) bugs. Swat down the flies and keep hammering the wraiths to put them down for good. Once you're out of things to kill, run over and bash the statue's head until it finally shuts up. Head through the doorway, and head across to the island.
- Once you're across, the statue's eyes will shoot out a beam blocking the exit. Use the green chest if you need it, then head to the right to find a Gorgon Eye. Once you've collected the chest, use the ladder on either side to get down to the lower level, or just jump.
- YouTube: The Pools of Destiny (Time 7:28)
-
Destiny's Atrium
- If you head toward the hallway on the left, you'll be attacked by a cyclops and some wild boars. The boars you can instantly kill with a grab. The cyclops will be a bit tougher. You can't block most of his attacks, and most of yours won't even make him stagger. He'll usually either stomp at you, or pound you with his fists. He might also try and grab and throw you. Stick and move to beat him, attack a couple of times, then roll away to avoid his attacks.
- Once the first cyclops goes down, two more will attack you. Use the same strategy to beat them as before, just make sure to keep an eye on both of them. Once they're all dead, climb the ladder to the left closest to the big statue. Up there, you'll find a statue with a shield, and a blue chest. Move the statue across the bridge until it's blocking one of the bigger statue's eye beams.
- Now, head to the right. You'll find another shield statue, but you can't just drag it over. Instead, pull the switch on the left to lower the platform and push the statue onto it. Raise the platform again, and kick the statue back down as far as you can, then drag it the rest of the way. With both beams locked, the path to the island will be open. Save and use the green chest if you need to, then head on through.

-
Euryale's Temple
- Walk forward through the creepy looking trees. Shoot down the hanging bodies with Typhon's Bane for some extra red orbs. Keep moving forward. You'll see a couple of chests, but before you get to them, you'll be attacked by a really big guy on a horse. You'll go through a minigame before the rider is revealed as the Barbarian King Kratos killed when Ares first granted him the Blades of Chaos.
-
Boss Fight: Barbarian King
- YouTube: God of War 2 The Barbarian King (Time: 7:20)
- After they're done reminiscing, your second boss fight will begin. He'll start by charging at you, so roll out of the way. Then he'll Circle around, firing arrows at you, so return fire with Typhon's bane. Roll when he charges again, and keep dodging his arrows and firing back. If you run out of magic, you can use your melee attacks, but this is a bit riskier. Once you've done enough damage, grapple him to kill the horse.
- Now, he'll change things up a bit. He will sometimes dive into the ground, returning in the center with an uppercut. Just stay out of the center to dodge this. He'll also slam his hammer into the ground, sending a shockwave toward you. Roll to dodge this. He'll also send the ghosts circling him to attack you, just roll to dodge them. He'll also summon barbarian zombies to attack you. These guys are pretty easy, and you can instant kill them with Circle. Just be careful not to get too distracted and let the Barbarian King get shots in on you. One of the times he does this, he'll summon the boat captain from the first game, who you can then gleefully kill for the third time.
- Eventually, he'll absorb the ghosts into himself and grow to twice his normal size. Keep your distance from him and pelt him with Typhon's Bane. When you run out of magic, use the same stick-and-move tactics you used against the cyclops, except keep in mind none of your strikes will stagger him. Keep out of the way of his hammer, and whittle him down until he releases the ghosts.
- He'll start his attack pattern over again, so repeat the same strategies. When he's taken enough damage, grapple him to finish him off with his own hammer, which you'll get to keep. This weapon is all about big hits, but you're incredibly slow while wielding it, to it's hard to recommend. Anyway, you'll be attacked by a few more zombies, so tenderize them with your new toy.
-
Temple of Euryale
- Now that that's taken care of, swing across the bog and continue forward. You'll come across a couple of boars, so gut them and press on to get to the home of Medusa's uglier sister. Jump across the putrid water, and don't head toward the door with the Gorgon's face on it, because it will petrify you. You'll come back to this later.
- Head around to the left to find a red chest hidden in a small alcove around the wall. There's a locked door here, so head back to the front and go around toward the save point to the right. Use it if you want, and open the green chest if you need to, then head to the right, jumping on the pathway to the right above the water. Then, jump to the left across the water, and head forward.
- Continue forward until you reach the water's edge. Search the body to find Euryale's Key, and you'll be attacked by boar-like soldiers. There's nothing particularly special about these guys, and they're one of the enemies you can grapple right off the bat. In fact, you can chain the grapples more or less indefinitely until they expire. Once they're dead, head back toward the locked door you passed earlier.
- When you pass the front of the temple, the bones scattered around the ground will rise up and form skeleton soldiers that would make Ray Harryhausen proud. These guys aren't too tough to kill, but they can detach an arm to double their reach, so watch out. They'll also play dead by falling apart occasionally, then reforming when you walk away. Once you finish with the ones by the front, you'll find two more waiting for you by the door.
- Once you're done re-killing the skeletons, head through the door. Immediately to the right once you're through it is a Gorgon's Eye. Use the green chest if you need it, then head around to the right of the pillar until you reach the Ruins of the Forgotten.
-
Ruins of the Forgotten
- Move forward, and one of those boar soldiers will summon a cyclops to ride. Hit Circle in front of the beast to yank the soldier off, then kill him. Use the same kind of stick-and-move tactics you used against the other cyclopses. The tree trunk in his hand gives him a little more reach, but he'll only use it if he's got a rider on top.
- Once the first cyclops is down, two more boar soldiers will come up and summon another cyclops. Go after them in the same way. A good tactic here is to jump and use R1+Circle to deliver a lot of quick hits, since almost all a cyclops's attacks are aimed at the ground. If you can double jump just right, you'll hover over his head as you attack, and you can use the attack several times in a row to rack up a ton of damage. Use the grapple kill to rip out the eyes. 20 of them will unlock a new costume, but you'll have to go through the game more than once to get that many.
- Once they're down, use the chest to the right of the battlefield if you need either magic or health. Head into the small enclosure with all the pillars to the back, and drag the block out from against the wall. Leave the block on the tilting platform for now, and open the gate that was behind it.
- Go forward and around the bend. Break the concrete block in the corner to find a red chest, then keep going counterclockwise around the hallway. Ignore the opening right ahead of you, and head to the left. Fight your way past the satyrs here, and you'll find a blue and red chest at the end of the hallway.
- Backtrack to the opening in the wall with the shining pillar hanging in front of it. Drop down in the middle of the room, and you'll be attacked by exploding bugs and wraiths. Once you're done with them, use the green chest if you need it, then attack the central pillar till it breaks, revealing a grapple point. Swing across it, then continue forward, swinging across the grapple points lining the ceiling.
- Once you're on the other side, climb the ladder to your right, then climb the overhanging vines across the gap, fighting the satyrs in your way. On the other end of the vines are a red chest and a Gorgon Eye. Drop down, then jump across the stumps in the water. Do it quickly, and avoid the bombs the Grenadiers are tossing your way. You can't block those, by the way. Once you're on the other side, knock down the small pillars on the left and right to bring the fight up close.
- Unlike the archers, these guys are dangerous up close too. You can't block their grenades, so you'll be relying entirely on rolling to avoid damage here. They're susceptible to grapples, and you can even chain the grapple if you hit Circle while they're in the air. Also, watch out when you kill them. They'll light one last bomb and crawl toward you for a kamekaze attack if you knock their legs off.
- Once the first two Grenadiers are down, you can either take out the third with Typhon's Bane, or run over and use R1 to topple the pillar he's on. Either way, two more Grenadiers will pop up, so take them out, and be careful of the bombs flying around.
- If you haven't already, topple the central pillar. This will provide a platform from which you can jump up to the next floor. In the small alcove to the right, there's a green chest, and there's a red chest on the left. Head forward, and you'll get to another building with a blue chest out front.
- Head inside, then use Typhon's Bane to shoot the foliage blocking the grapple point near the two chests. Swing up, and grab the Gorgon Eye and red orbs. Hit the switch below the two chests, and the gate to the right will open. Before you grab the body, break down the wall behind it, then kill the two Grenadiers that jump at you.
- Pick up the body, then drop him in the running water behind the destroyed wall. Quickly, run to the other side of the room with the partially lowered gate, and break down the wall there too. Eventually, the body will come around, so pick it back up and place it on the pressure switch. Have Kratos stand on the center switch, then head through the now open gate.
- Save if you need to, and grab the green chest if you need it. Head forward, and you'll see an Argonaut putting up a decent fight against some satyrs and a minotaur. In the pool ahead, you'll see three platforms. Each of them has a lever you'll have to operate to move it horizontally across the pool, and will start heading back if you let go.
- You'll be attacked by indefinitely spawning satyrs on each one, two at a time, so do fight them off as quickly as you can, then return to the lever. If you use Circle to grab, then Square to throw, you can knock one off instantly, and you'll usually knock the second off too. If not, just throw that one off the same way. Cronos's Rage is also good for keeping them off your back.
- The third platform's already where you need it to be, so just hop across to the other shore. Head up the slope and approach the bundle of rocks at the far end, which will wake up as a stone minotaur. He won't move from that spot, but he's got a long reach with his arms, and will throw boulders at you, which you'll have to roll to dodge. If you get in real close, he'll use a spinning attack which will punish you if you get caught in it, and he'll also pound the ground in front of him several times. Use hit-and-run tactics or Typhon's Bane to whittle him down and avoid his attacks.
- Once he's down, head to where he was standing and hit R1 to bring down the tree. Head across, then climb the wall to the left, then onto the overhanging vines. You'll be attacked on both sides as you make your way across. You'll find yourself on the platform where you saw that Argonaut fighting. Looks like things didn't end well for him.
- Open the gate near the end of the vine, revealing a statue of Lahkesis. Use the amulet to slow down time so you can get across that spinning wheel. Above the conveyor belt, there's a green chest, so partake if needs be. Move across the wheel turning the conveyor belts and head to the right, past the masher. Kill the satyrs here quickly so you don't fall into the masher, and avoid the petrification beams. They go off in a set pattern, so you should be able to avoid them. Alternatively, just roll through them.
- At the end of the conveyor, break through the wall, and swing across. Collect the green chest if you need it, then break the statues. One has a block behind it that you'll need to kick out of the way. Head through, and you'll find yourself back in the area with the tilting enclosure. Get the block you just pushed onto the enclosure by lowering the near side with the first block. Then, push both to the far end of the enclosure. Now, go to the raised side, and you'll be able to push the enclosure into the water, making a platform.
- Head across the platform, and jump onto the stairs. Climb up the wall here, and head to the left. Break the tree in the gap, and jump across. Head into the tunnel, then hang a left at the slowly spinning wheel. You'll find a couple of petrified minotaurs (shatter'em for red orbs) and another almost-dead Argonaut.
- Check the soldier, and he'll tell you about Jason, imploring you to save him. Clearly, he doesn't know Kratos very well. After he's done talking, you'll be attacked by a Gorgon. These are a little different, and instead of the slow acting petrification, they use a quick shot to stone you in one go. Roll when they roll their heads back to avoid it. Otherwise, fight these the same as the others.
- Once it's dead, pick up the soldier and bring it around to the crusher. Drop him on the conveyor belt, and he'll jam up the machine. Kratos is not a nice guy. Before you break the wheels, head forward and around the bend you'll find a Phoenix Feather and a chest with red and blue orbs. Backtrack to where you first saw the slowly spinning wheel, and break it down. You'll fine a Gorgon Eye behind it.
- Now, head back to the jammed grinder, and break the wheels there. Head through, and pick up the green/blue chest if you need it, then head to the left. Open the gate, and you'll face Cerberus, who was in the middle of eating a Jason Burger.
- This fight is a lot like the previous fight with a Cerberus, except this one's going to take a little more to bring down. He fights almost exactly the same, except he shoots four fireballs at you instead of two and he's a little more aggressive; and he has a ground pound move with a short range. He's also got a flamethrower attack that starts with his three mouths glowing with fire. Roll away from him to avoid it, and pelt him with Typhon's Bane to get in some hits.
- After you do enough damage, he'll swallow Jason's arm. Keep on him, and eventually you'll be able to end the battle with a grapple, netting you the Golden Fleece. This item lets you reflect projectiles, provided you time the block right. You'll get a chance to test it out right away. To the right of the arena is a switch, which makes the head on the wall shoot fireballs. Reflect the fireball to blow through the wall.
- The fleece will also let you counter melee attacks you block in time. Head through the doorway, and you'll be attacked by more gorgons. This time, you can use the fleece to reflect their petrification back at them (and anything else around you), but the timing's tricky. Once they're dead, backtrack to the front of the Temple of Euryale.

Temple of Euryale Part II
- Before you head into the temple, head back around to where the conveyor belts with the petrification beams were. Along the way, you'll be attacked by some satyrs and a wraith, then a pair of Grenadiers in the room where you first met them. Once you're at the conveyor belts, use the fleece to reflect the first set of beams to reveal a Phoenix Feather behind them. The second set hids the Urn of the Gorgons, and the third has a Gorgon Eye. Once you've got them, keep moving the way you did before to arrive at the area which used to have the tilted enclosure, then go back to the entrance to the temple
- Use the Golden Fleece on the petrification beams to break the beams, then bash your way in. Head down the stairs, and open the door at the end. Break the petrified soldiers in front of you, or they'll break out and you'll have to do things the hard way. There's a green chest if you need it. Head to the right, and you'll find a couple more stoned soldiers, and a couple live ones will pop up out of the floor.
- Head down the ladder in the middle of the room, and at the bottom, you'll be attacked by a bunch of soldiers and a fat minotaur with a flaming mace. Take out the soldiers first, and another fat minotaur will show up, along with a few more soldiers. The fat minotaurs are pretty durable, but most of your strikes will stun them. Most of their attacks have a noticeable wind up, so you should have ample warning to dodge or block their attacks. There's a green/blue chest if you need it on the right.
- Once you're through with the battle, go through the pathway that opened up, and grab the red chest. Head to the left, and use the elevator to head down. Use one of the grenade bugs at the bottom to blow a hole in the wall to the left (it'll be directly in front of you once you're in the chamber) to find a Phoenix Feather.
- Now, go back to the elevator, and use the crank until it's only part way up, maybe turn the crank a little more than 1/8 of the way around. Then, jump off and get on the other elevator. Double jump onto the back wall, and you should be able to grab a ledge. Keep jumping up the shaft.
- Once you reach the top, you'll find a soldier armed with a scythe and a sword. The scythe gives it a little more reach than the average soldier, but he's not terribly tough to beat. Just fight him like you would the others, block his attacks, then counter. Use the savepoint and green chest at the end of the hall, then go back and climb up the wall in the fork to the left.
- Use the blue chest if you need it, then climb up the wall and make your way across the ceiling. Be careful of the spinning blades, as they'll knock huge chunks off your health. The left side of the path is slightly safer, but luckily there's a green chest at the end.
- Now, turn the crank at the end of the ceiling path, and it'll draw back the huge battering ram to the right. Let go, then run as fast as you can down ram's path. You'll have to flip the switch toward the end, then lift the grating and get out of the way before the ram reaches you, or you're dead. Once you do that, go past the pillars you lowered with the switch, and drop down. Head to the right and read the book to start the fight with Euryale.

Boss Fight: Euryale
- YouTube: God of War 2 Euryale (Time: 5:46)
- Euryale, like the other Gorgons, will try and turn you to stone often. Counter it with the Golden Fleece to turn it against her. You can't turn her to stone, but it does damage her. Also note despite her size, she's about as quick as the other gorgons, but she doesn't stagger easily. Use hit and run tactics, and use the fleece to counter her petrification during this first stage of the fight. You can block most of her attacks, but when she uses her two hit tail swing combo, you can't block the overhead smash, so roll out of the way.
- Eventually, she'll retreat to one of the pillars in the back of the arena. From there, she'll use a couple of different attacks. She'll either shoot red energy balls at you, which you can either block or dodge. They home in, so watch out. She'll also send a wave of petrification energy along the ground. Either jump over this, or time the block to have the Fleece deflect it. Lastly, she'll belly flop into the middle of the arena, sending out a shockwave for you to jump over.
- Either pelt her with Typhon's Bane here, or jump up close and use your air combos. If you do go in close, she'll swipe at you with her tail. Once you've done enough damage, you can grapple her and pull her down, and the pillar with her. Once you've done that, she'll climb the other pillar and repeat the pattern. Once you've knocked her off both pillars, she'll go back to her first pattern, only more aggressive. She also gains an advancing attack with her fist, it's a two hit combo, so block or dodge both strikes before you counter. Eventually, you'll be able to grapple her. Finish her off, and you'll get her head, which works just like Medusa's in the first game.
-
Temple of Euryale Part II Continued
- Now, use your new toy to petrify and shatter satyrs until the door at the back opens. Head through, saving if you want, and go to the chamber at the back. Use the crate in front of you to raise the pillar until it reaches the top, then swim across to the platform directly ahead of you. Pull the switch, then use your Amulet to stop time and swim under the gate before it closes.
- Head to the surface, then use the crank on the middle platform to raise this pillar. Go back down into the water, and pull the switch near the gate. These close back quickly, so hold R1 and dash through both of them before they close. Surface, then break through the wall behind the crank to get a Gorgon Eye. Use the crank like you did the last two, then go into the water. In the back right corner, dash through the broken gate into the next area; surface, and raise the pillar, then head over to the platform in the back.
- Next, go through the pathway on the right side of the room, toward where you started this whole thing. Climb the ladder ahead of you, then step forward onto the pressure switch to reveal a ladder. Turn around and get the two red chests behind you, then head back down the ladder. Head to the right at the bottom. When you try to use the crank, you'll be attacked by a gladiator.
- He doesn't stagger easily, so hit him quick, and try to stay out of range of his mace. He's got a long wind up whenever he goes to swing, so you shouldn't have much trouble dodging him. Once he's dead, three grenadiers will pop up, and now you can use the Fleece to reflect their grenades back at them. Another gladiator will pop up as well, so keep an eye out for him. If things get too rough for you, you can use the Amulet to slow the enemies down for a bit. A third gladiator will pop up once everyone else is dead, so fight him off.
- Once you're finished with them, use the crank to raise the pillar, then immediately use the amulet. Run back down the hallway, and up the ladder. Use the amulet again once you reach the top, then swing your way around the grapple points, jumping from one to the next. You'll have to go around a sizable pillar to reach the last grapple point, so try to aim around the side of it.
- Use the green chest if you need it, then head down the hallway. Pull the switch in the chamber at the end, and the elevator will start climbing. A bunch of dogs will rain down on you, so use Cronos' Rage to nail a bunch of them at once. Fight them off as quickly as you can, because you have to be rid of them before you reach the top.
- When the elevator reaches the top, you'll see a door, but it isn't open. Wait for the elevator to reach the top, then hammer the Circle button to push it back down. When you do, some more dogs will arrive. Kill them quickly, then repeat the process until the door's open wide enough for you to get through.
- Once you're through, head down the hall and you'll be attacked by harpies. Rip their wings off, and move forward. You'll have a short set of balance beams to cross. For the first set, just jump across the small gap, then jump onto the wall to the right. Shimmy over to the other side. Climb up the rope dangling in the pit to find a red chest and a Phoenix Feather. Use the green/blue chest if you need it, then head forward to be attacked by another stone minotaur.
- This guy fights exactly the same as the last one, only there will be harpies attacking you as well. Ignore them unless they start to attack you, then rip their wings off. Use the same hit and run tactics as before on this guy. You'll be able to avoid some of his close range attacks by approaching him from an angle, rather than straight ahead.
- Once he's dead, mop up any straggling harpies, then swing across the gap behind where he was. Save if you want, then continue down the hall. You'll pass some skeletons who won't come to life until you're almost past the last of them. Fight them off, then continue down the hallway, then up the spiral staircase. Pull the switch at the top, and you'll find yourself back at Destiny's Atrium.

Destiny's Atrium Part II
- Before you move on, turn around and head into the Bog of the Forgotten. Eventually, you'll find those two chests you saw right before the Barbarian King ambushed you. One has a Gorgon Eye, the other has over 4000 red orbs in it. Once you've collected them, head back to Destiny's Atrium.
- Go through the archway to the left/back of the area, and use the Fleece to reflect the fireball. Press against the wall to the right, then head forward through the wall you just broke. There's a green chest and a blue chest behind a small wall here. Grab'em if you need'em, then drop down and head down the passageway. At the end of the hallway are a pair of archers. Close up on them, and gut'em.
- Move forward, and you'll be attacked by another scythe soldier, and three archers. Take out the archers first, then the ones across the gap with Typhon's Bane, then take out the scythe soldier. Swing across the gap, then climb up the wall to find a red chest and a Gorgon Eye. Swing across the next three grapple points, then take out the archers and scythe soldier that attack you there. Grab the green chest if you need it, then climb the ladder.
-
The Hall of Atropos
- The big statue at the top will block off the exit, and you'll be attacked by three wraiths. These are a little different than the ones before, in that they have a long range attack where they throw their blades at you. You can block this attack. Otherwise, they're the same as the others, so deal with them accordingly.
- Once they're dead, head over to the back-left of the area, near the save point, and head through the door there. Grab the green and blue chests toward the back if you need them, then head to the right. You'll be attacked by a group of sorcerers, who'll summon fairly weak versions of the minotaurs you've been fighting so far.
- Go for the sorcerers first. You can grapple them right off the bat, so use that to beat them down before going in for the kill, then go after the minotaurs. At most, there'll be three of them in the arena at once.
- Once they're all dead, move one of the statues on the right onto the elevator on the far corner of the room, then bring the second statue right next to it. Use the crank in the middle of the wall to raise the elevator to the top, then push the second statue so it blocks the elevator's descent. Climb up the statues, to reach the top.
- Use the green chest if you need it, then check the mural on the wall for a bit of backstory. Head to the right, watch the soldier fighting for a bit if you want, and grab the red chest, then head up the ladder to the left. Head forward and you'll reach a wide open area. You'll be attacked by satyrs and harpies, to waste them quickly. There's a blue/yellow chest at the end of the pathway here if you want it.
- Head down the stairs to the right, past a couple more satyrs, and you'll get to where you just saw that soldier fighting. You'll be attacked by a pair of what we'll call Elite Satyrs for now. These are more challenging than the average satyr. They dance around you, and can dish out punishment quickly if you're off your guard. Use timed blocks with the Fleece to counter their attacks, and use quick strikes to beat them, always ready to block or dodge. You can grapple them, but unlike other grapples this leaves you vulnerable to attacks from the other Elite Satyr, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you've eliminated one of them already. These guys are some of the toughest of the regular enemies you'll face.
- Once they're dead, pull the block that was behind the force field, then jump on it to reach the above chest, which houses a Gorgon Eye. Then push it back out, and jump out with it. You'll be back in the courtyard. Push the block around and to the left, and use it to reach the ladder on one of the catwalk supports. Climb up, then move to the left, across the balance beam. You'll be attacked by some bugs. Hop across the foliage to the left to get a Phoenix Feather. Grab the green chest if you need it, then head through the door to the right.
- You'll be attacked by a handful of satyrs and a gladiator. Take out the satyrs first, then the gladiator. Another one will come up to take its place, and send him down to Hades too. Once you've beaten them, jump up on the ledge and grab the green/blue chest if you need it. Head through the doorway, and save if you want, then head forward.
- Jump, then swing across the grapple point to reach the second one. Jump from that to reach the top one, then swing forward to reach the other side. You'll find a group of satyrs there, so say hi, then step on the pressure switch to make the trees grow. Use the amulet and run across. On the central platform, drop down to the right to find a Phoenix Feather. Now, head back across (the switch on this platform has the plants retract slower), and do it again, only this time, head down the left pathway while the amulet's still active.
- On this platform, you'll be attacked by a group of satyrs and harpies. You can probably guess what to do here. Once they're dead, use the pressure switch to make the plants grow, then use the amulet to run across both sets, forward and to the left. Once on this platform, guess what? Yeah, more satyrs and harpies. Once they're dead, use the pressure switch and the amulet to cross the final set of trees. Use the green and blue chests here if you need them, then head through the door to face Perseus.
-
Perseus
- YouTube: God of War 2 Perseus (Time: 4:42)
- He's a bit angry with you for stranding him in this room, so looks like you'll have to kill him. He starts the fight by going invisible with his magical helmet. Luckily, the arena's covered in ankle-deep water, so it's not too hard to track his movements. He'll throw volleys at you from his slingshot, which you can reflect with the fleece. Otherwise, he'll try and sneak up on you with his sword, so pay attention to the ripples in the water and you should be able to track him. He doesn't bother to block much here, so wail away when you have a bead on him.
- Eventually, you'll knock his helmet off, which will give you a very brief window in which to hit Circle and destroy it. Now he'll come at you with his sword again, and start blocking with his shield. He'll also use the shield to temporarily blind you. Jam away at the analog stick to recover before he clobbers you. Keep up the attack until you can destroy his sword like you did his helmet.
- Now, with his sword gone, he'll mostly stick to the slingshot and stunning you with the shield. Keep up the attack. He'll block most of what you throw at him, but each shot will send him sliding back, and eventually he'll hit the wall, allowing you to get more shots in. Eventually, he'll retreat to the back of the arena. Knock him against the wall here, then grapple him to end the fight and pick up the Shield of Perseus.
-
Hall of Atropos Part II
- Head through the hole you just made with his body, and grab the green and blue chests if you need them. Slide down the chain he's hanging from, then climb up the ladder on the support pillar to the right. Once up the ladder, head to the right and jump over the shrubs to find a statue.
- Knock out the block beneath it, then put the shield in its hands, and kick it down to the ground below. Push it to the left, onto the wooden platform in the middle of the ground until it's in the groove on the left end of it. Raise the wooden platform using the crank in the middle, then climb back up the ladder and use the fleece on the second eyebeam to knock out the barrier, then head on through.
- Head up the stairs, then down the pathway. There's a fork, but you can't get the chests to the left yet. Instead, head to the right and swing across the gap. Deal with the archers on the other side, then head over to the left. Swim across, and grab the green and blue chests if you need them.
- Head to the left from the chests, then turn right. Climb the wall here, then pull the switch you find on top. Drop down, then head through the gate you just opened and collect the Spear of Destiny. You'll be attacked by a bunch of satyrs, so test out your new weapon on the poor bastards. Hit L1 and Triangle to fire the thing like a shotgun, and take note of the extended range of the weapon.
- Once they're dead, drag the statue over to the turntable and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise. Push it through the small archway, then place it as close as you can to the water near the green and blue chests you passed earlier. Swim across, then move forward until you reach the bend leading to the grapple point. Use the amulet, then swing across and head to the left to collect the chests that you passed before. You'll find a Phoenix Feather, the Urn of Olympus, and a Gorgon Eye.
- Head back the way you came, and push the statue back up the slope. Put it on the turntable and turn it another 90 degrees clockwise, then push the statue back where you first found it. Head back down the slope, then around to where you climbed the wall before. This time, jump onto the tilted platform, and it will level out. Use the amulet and run across to the green and blue chests and save point.

Crossing of the Lowlands
- Save if you need to, then hit R1 to grapple onto the first point. This is a long and involved button timing minigame, and one mistake means you have to start it over from the beginning, so keep your fingers ready. In a couple places, you'll actually have to wait for the falling pillars to be in the right place before you proceed, so be careful of jumping off too early.
- Once on the other side, head forward into the dank tunnel and you'll be attacked by some sirens. They're not much different than the ones you fought before, so deal with them in the same way. The only real difference is they're a bit tougher, and use primarily long range attacks that you can reflect. After the first two are down, you'll be attacked by another siren and a pair of fat minotaurs. The area in here is pretty tight, so try not to get crowded into a corner.
- Continue forward, and you'll be attacked by an Elite Satyr, only this one wields a double bladed staff instead of two half staves. The same things apply, though: He's quick, and can punish you if you let him. Keep your guard up and attack when there's an opening. Eventually, a pair of gladiators will join the fray. Another Elite Satyr will show up once you've finished off the first. Like before, this area is fairly close in, so avoid getting crowded however you can. Since grapple killing the gladiator nets you yellow orbs, this is a good place to use Rage of the Titans if you're having trouble.
- Once they're dead, refill your health or magic at the Green/Blue chest, then head forward, and you'll reach the Great Chasm. You'll find green and blue chests here, and a save point. Head down the broken bridge until you meet Icarus, who's...well, a little whacky. Probably got too much sun. He'll attack you, sending the both of you falling over the side. This fight's mostly a timed button minigame, with a few rounds of punching in between. Try and keep up with the buttons to beat up on Icarus, and eventually you'll rip off his wings and land in Tartarus.

Atlas
- You'll land on the titan's nose. Head to the left to find a green chest and save point, along with a pair of harpies. If you don't want to use them, climb up the center of his nose, then head to the left. Double jump across the gap, and hold X to use Icarus' Wings to glide across. Better get used to that, you'll be doing it a lot here. Glide across the next gap as well, then use the wings to reach the platform hanging from the chain.
- Glide across to the second and third platforms, and kill the harpies when they approach you. Aside from being on fire, these aren't any different from the others you've faced. From the third platform, glide down to the cave you can see way in the background. Inside the cave, you'll be attacked by more harpies and an Elite Satyr. Take'em out (another Elite Satyr will show up when the first is dead), then grab the green/blue chest if you need it.
- Once they're all dead, attack the tendrils preventing you from reaching the block in the wall. Pull it into the chamber, then to the left to reach a ledge with a red chest and a Phoenix Feather. Drop back down, and pull, don't push, the block back where it was. Keep pulling it into the next room, and use it to reach the ledge above. Use the green chest if you need it, then head to the left.
- On the platform floating in the lava, you'll spot yet another rock minotaur. glide over and attack it to start the fight. Unlike the others you've faced, this one is mobile, and will chase after you (albeit very slowly). You can't stagger it, so use hit and run tactics to whittle away at it. It uses the same set of attacks as the other ones you've faced.
- When you've done enough damage, he'll pound the ground, sending the platform sinking into the lava. Jump across to the wall and climb on. From here, he'll throw boulders at you, so use the X button to jump back and forth across the wall to avoid them. Jump just as he's throwing them for the best effect. Once he stops, the platform will rise up again, so repeat what you did last time and he'll break apart.
- One piece of his body will stay around. Push or kick it to the far end, and jump off it to get to the opening in the wall. Head through the opening, then jump off the edge and glide to the left to get a Phoenix Feather and some red and blue orbs. From there, glide to the right and head through the tunnel. Jump across to the platform in the middle of the lava river, then to the left to reach a green chest and savepoint. Attack the tendrils to the right of the savepoint, then head back to the central platform and jump on the rock as it floats by.
- When the rock gets close to the edge, jump off it and swing across the grapple point. Break the rock in front of you to uncover an air vent, which you can use with Icarus' Wings to float to the other side. Head forward, then use the grenade bugs spawning out of the holes to blow up the shining rock in the wall. Once you've done that, go ahead and destroy their spawn points lying around the walls.
- Once that's taken care of, go back to the shiny rock you destroyed, and jump up on top of it to reach a climbable wall. Make your way across it, then use the green and blue chests if you need them. Glide across the room to the other climbable wall, and follow it to the shining stalactite. Destroy it, then drop down where it was hanging. Jump and glide across into the next room.
- Jump onto the climbable wall on the left by the opening, then follow it to the ceiling. Move across it, and destroy the large stalactite hanging next to your path. This will open up a hole you can climb up through, where you'll find a red chest and the Urn of Prometheus. Head back down the hole, then move forward. Destroy the stalactites in the way for extra red orbs, and kill the satyrs that attack you.
- The last stalactite will open up another hole. Climb up, then jump on the platform to the right to lower it down. Jump across to the climbable wall, then slide down. Move forward across the ceiling, and destroy the fleshy bits hanging down to open up the vents. Climb across to the left, and attack the tendrils in your way. Drop down onto the central platform, then use the wings to glide over the vents.
- You'll land on a cliff overlooking some more hanging platforms. Glide over to the first one you see, then go over to the large platform with the crank in the middle. You'll be attacked by a couple scythe soldiers, and harpies will keep spawning while the soldiers are alive. Once they're all dead, use the crank to raise the platform, then glide across the hanging platforms.
- At the third platform, jump onto the chain to slide down. Use the red and green chests, and save if you want, then climb up the wall. Jump across the gap in the wall, and you'll find three satyrs climbing up behind you. Deal with them, then head on up. Break the rocks in your way, but make sure you're not directly below them when you do, or the rocks will do huge damage to you. On the plus side, you can use them to take out any pursuing satyrs.
- Past the rocks, you'll reach the ceiling. From there, swing across the grapple points. Be careful of the first one, as you'll have to use R1 to both drop down and grapple, so you have to hit the button twice quickly. After the third grapple point, latch onto the wall and climb up. Jump across to reach the platform. Continue to the right, and you'll reach a pit with two movable blocks.
- Take one, and position it next to the top part of the incline in the pit. Now, move the second up the incline, and place it on top of the first. Move the both of them to the right until they're right up against the ledge, and pull the top one onto the ledge with you. Before you use the block to reach the ledge on the right with the green chest, put it by the climbable wall on the left and climb up. Head to the left along the wall to reach a Gorgon Eye.
- Now, use the block to reach the ledge with the green chest, and head up the climbable wall there. Here, you'll have to jump from side to side to avoid the falling rocks. If you're hit, they'll do major damage. Wait for one to hit on the near side before you venture out, then climb until one falls on the other side and immediately jump across. Keep alternating until you reach the top.
- Once at the top, head to the left. Head onto the third path, then use R1 to drop down quickly. Duck into the alcove on the left at the end to avoid the avalanche chasing you down. Then wait for a rock to fall on the fourth path, and climb up just like you did the first and second paths.
- Once you reach the top, head forward and break the massive chains laying in front of you. Atlas will grab you between his fingers. Mash L1 and R1 to avoid being crushed, and Atlas will tell you a little story. Once the cutscene's over, he'll give you his power, Atlas Quake. He'll send a bunch of satyrs for you to test it out on, but instead, use Cronos' Rage to rack up another insanely high combo for the bonus red orbs.
- Once they're all dead, Atlas will put you back on the surface, on the other side of the Great Chasm.

Storming The Palace
- Jump from Atlas's hand and save if you want. Jump from the platform with the save point and glide across to the next platform. Jump and glide around to the opposite side of the pillar next to you to reach a climbable wall. Up top is a red chest. Keep gliding forward, and you'll reach another pillar with a climbable wall. You can't just climb straight up this one, so jump back and on top of the one behind it, then jump from there to the green chest on top of the third pillar. Glide across, and you'll reach the Palace of the Fates.
- You'll see a ramp leading up to the entrance. On the right side of the ramp is a switch which lowers it. Pull the switch, and a handfull of boar soldiers will spawn and summon cyclopses, and a grenadier or two will pop up on the sides. Deal with the grenadiers first, then pull the boars off the cyclops and slaughter'em. Deal with the lumbering beasts last.
- Once they're all dead, use the green and blue chests if you need them. Grab the plank sticking out near the blue chest, and rotate the entrance until it's clear, then head through. The next chamber, you'll notice, has what looks like a cheese grater for a floor. Head around the room, and you'll find one chamber already open. Get the red chest and the green chest if you need it, then go over and pull the lever in the center of the room.
- The gates around the edge will start to rotate, spikes will start shooting out from holes in the floor, and bugs (not the exploding kind) will spawn and attack you. Fight off the bugs, and wait for the open doors (there's three, side by side) to make their circuit around the room. When one opens, it's usually just long enough to get both chests open if you hurry. There are three red chests in the alcoves to the left, so make sure you get them all. In the alcove with one red chest is a body that has a crank on it, so make sure you grab that as well. Whatever you do, make sure you're out of the room before gates start to rotate again and the spikes close in on you.
- Next to the alcove with the green chest is a large block. Pull that out to stop the whole rotating room of death thing. Doing this will also open up all the side alcoves, if you want to do it the easy way. Head down the hallway, and use the green chest if you need it. Head up the staircase to the left, and collect the red chest, and the blue chest if you need it in the little alcoves.
- Keep heading forward and you'll reach a large open area. Head all the way across and climb the ladder. Use the crank handle you picked up before, then turn the crank to shut off the flames shooting out of the wall. Immediately, use the amulet to slow down time, and glide across to where the flames were. In a small alcove next to the flames, there's a Phoenix Feather. Jump into the archway next to the platform, and head down the hallway.
- Save if you need it, then head forward up the stair-like ledges. Ignore the airvent for now, and run to the end of the hallway and pull the switch. Now, use the airvent to glide up over the partly opened gate, but be quick because it raises back up. It may take you a couple of tries. Head down the hallway, and take out the dogs that attack you.
- At the end of the hall, you'll be attacked by a group of dogs and satyrs. They shouldn't give you much of a challenge at this point, so take them out. Open the doorway at the end with the picture of Zeus on it. Use the green and blue chests if you need them, then knock down the scaffolding on the left to release the block. Push it into the next room, the Auditorium of Lahkesis, then push it all the way to the right, into the chamber with the translator.
- Move him off the switch and replace him with the block. Pick him back up, then move out of the room. You'll be attacked by satyrs and dogs, and you'll have to escort the translator. Luckily, your attacks can't hurt the translator, so just concentrate on beating the enemies before they can attack him. To make the first wave easier, you can pull the translator back into the chamber and close the door, and use the the L1+Triangle attack for either the Barbarian Hammer or the Spear of Destiny to take out the first wave from safely behind the gate.
- The second wave, consisting of both satyrs and Elite Satyrs, will attack you at the circular part in the center of the bridge, and you'll have to bring the translator along this time. Again, just concentrate on keeping the enemies off him, then once they're dead, pick him up and bring him to the book.
- He'll scramble out of your hands and to the book. Keep close to him, and attack anything that comes near. There'll be dogs, satyrs, and some sorcerers here, so you'll have plenty to keep you busy. Concentrate on the sorcerers and satyrs first; you'll probably nail the dogs with incidental attacks. If they start becoming a pain, use either Cronos' Rage or Atlas Quake to make some room, and use Rage of the Titans if you need to.
- Once they're all dead, go over to the translator and have Kratos "encourage" him to read the words in his own special way. You'll see a vision of Lahkesis, who'll point out the Key of the Ram. Take it, then head through the door. Use the green chest if you need it, then continue down the stairs. Open the gate at the end of the hallway, then continue to backtrack until you reach that wide open area again.
- Use the Key of the Ram on the door to the far side of the area, then head through. Use the green/blue chest if you need it, then head to the right past the bloody spikes. At about half way through, you'll be attacked by a swarm of satyrs. You'll have to kill them all before the two spike walls converge on you. Atlas Quake is good, as is he Cyclone of Chaos (L1+Square), just make sure you kill them quickly. Once that's done, the two walls will recede.
-
Garden of the Gods
- Go through the hallway on the right, and grab the red chest across the way. Then, head up the stairs to the right, and the statue of Athena will talk to you. Destroy the statue to shut her up, then break through the wall next to the statue of Ares. There's also a red chest and a Phoenix Feather on the left side of the room, by the entrance.
- Head through the wall you broke down, then press up against the back wall and move to the right. Past the second wall, hit R1 to drop down, then head into the passageway, up the ladder, and to the left to collect two red chests. Then head back onto the ledge, and shimmy to the right until you reach the save point. Use it if you want, then head into the next room.
- Use the green chest if you need it, then drop into the room. Approach the doorway, and hit R1 to start a battle with a siren. Here, your objective is to use the switches on either side of the room to light her on fire with the torches on the other side. Your best bet may be to use Euryale's Head to stone her on one side, then use the switch. Alternatively, attack her until she's stunned with the Circle icon over her head, then use the switch to light up whatever side she's on.
- After you've torched three of them, the door will open, so head through. Use the green chest if you need to, then dive into the blood. Swim through the underwater tunnel, and be careful to avoid the protrusions as they'll damage you. When you reach the end, surface and head toward the camera to find a pair of red chests.
- Move forward to find a chamber mostly frozen over. On the far end of the chamber is a climbable wall. Get up to the ceiling, then destroy all the icicles hanging down. Drop down to the center, and use the lever behind the frozen bird in the center to make it breath fire, thawing out one sheet of ice, and revealing a mirror. Pull the mirror out, and use it to thaw out the next sheet to the right, revealing a minotaur and a red chest. Kill the former and open the latter, then push the mirror around the area counter clockwise.
- Put the mirror under the beam of light right near the entrance of the chamber, then use the three cranks to the right to rotate the three pieces of the symbols surrounding the bird. Move them until a slightly-less-than-half moon is under the middle crank, and the bird will be thawed out. You can now rotate it and flamethrower the rest of the ice sheets.
- To the left of where you found the mirror is a red chest, and counterclockwise from there are a chest with red and yellow orbs, a red chest, a minotaur and blue chest, and the exit. Once you've collected everything, head through the door.
- Go through the hallway to the left, then drop down into the room to the right. You'll be attacked by a bunch of exploding bugs, whose nests you'll need to break. The first is right on the ground here, so just whack away at it. Then jump onto the climbable wall next to it, and jump up the wall. Climb up until you get to the ceiling, then destroy the nest to the right. Head over and do the same to the one on the left, then drop down and turn the crank in the middle of the room. This will lower a hook that you can latch onto with R1, which'll then raise you to the next level.
- Once you're at the top, head around the room to the other side; use the blue and green chests here if you need them, then continue forward through the opening. In the circular room, you'll be attacked by two Cerberus's, who'll belch out green pups. Kill the pups quickly, or they'll grow into the big ones and be just as strong. The big ones are identical to the one that ate Jason earlier (except they keep belching out more kids), so fight them the same way, though keep in mind you can now reflect their fireballs back at them. Make sure to kill the little ones quickly, or you'll be overwhelmed.
- Once you've killed a couple of the Cerberus's, a pair of gladiators will join the fray. These are a little different, they're quicker and use a regular mace instead of a flail, and have less armor. Use the same sorts of stick-and-move tactics to avoid their shots and kill them, and watch out for their charging attack.
- Once the lot of them are dead, use the green chest to the left and head through the passage that just opened. Head up the ladder and save if you want, then jump across the gap. From here, head to the left to find a red chest and a chest with red and blue orbs, then drop down into the middle section to find two more red chests. To get back up, jump onto and grab the small ledge on the right, then from there jump to the higher ledge on the left, and jump from there to reach the top level again. Head back across to the save point, move forward and raise the gate to find another green chest.
- Drop down the ladder, then head to the right. You'll see a statue of Lahkesis. Pull it out, and notice the distortion behind it. You can't do anything with it right now, but bring the statue with you down the hall. When you get to the gate, the translator will jump out the window, leaving you in a bit of a bind.
- Pull the lever to open the gate, then push the statue of Lahkesis under the gate. To the left, you'll see a shimmering piece of wall. Walk through it, and you'll be transported back to the moment before the translator took a dive. Use the amulet, and immediately run back to where you found the statue. Make it there in time, and you'll find a special chest that gives you a health upgrade.
- Now, go back through the shimmering piece of wall, and use the amulet, only this time grab the translator before he falls. Bring him to the book, and "encourage" him to read it like you did with the last one. When he's done, the Fates' spire will open up, and you'll get another vision of Lahkesis. She'll point out the Warrior's Skull; grab it, and head through the door.
- Through the door, you'll find a crank that opens an air vent. Turn the crank, then use the vent to reach the switch above. Pull the switch, then drop down and open up the vent again, this time you'll be able to reach the ceiling above. Both switches reset, so you'll have to be quick about it. Head across the ceiling, breaking the shining pillar in your way, and drop down on the other side.
- Head inside, and turn the crank to lower the elevator you're on. At the bottom, jump out from the archway and glide back to the main courtyard. A pair of cyclopses will attack you, so dodge, stick and move to beat them down. These guys are a little different than the ones before, sort of a miX of attack patterns between the ridden and unridden cyclopses you've fought before. They have a fairly long wind up for every attack, so you should be able to dodge without too much trouble. Two more will show up as you finish off the first two.
- After all four are down, head to the door across the courtyard and use the Warrior's Skull to open it. On the other side, you'll find green and blue chests, and a save point. Head forward, and you'll be in an elevator with bones strewn about inside it.
-
Raising the Phoenix
- Hold R1 to start lowering the elevator by the chain, and the spiked ceiling will start to fall. Keep lowering the elevator, and the bones will form into skeletons and attack. Eliminate them as quickly as possible, and keep lowering the platform to avoid being crushed. An upgraded Atlas Quake or Cronos' Rage will do a lot to keep them off your back. Hurry to the bottom, then you'll have to open the gate before the ceiling crashes on you. Unlike before with the dogs, you can't shove the ceiling back up.
- Once you're through, you'll find two red chests next to you. Open'em, then head up the stairs to the right. You'll find a green chest, and an overhanging chain with satyrs coming across. Jump onto it, and fight your way across. Half way, though, an archer will split the rope, and you'll drop to the middle of the lava flow. Jump up the wall near the archers, and you'll grab a ledge; shimmy to the right, and you'll be able to climb up and knock the archers around.
- Once you climb up, a handful of satyrs and gorgons will join the fray, so deal with them in the usual manner. If a gorgon goes to petrify you, block it with the Fleece and you can petrify everyone else around you for an easy set of kills. Watch out though, because if you get petrified, one attack will be all that's needed to finish you.
- Once they're all taken care of, go back to the walkway in the middle of the lava, and climb up the wall on the left, then go across the ceiling to the other side. Once there, you'll be swarmed by satyrs and archers, so clear them out before they can gang up on you too badly. L1+Square works well. Once they're dead, collect the green and blue/yellow chests if you need them, then head to the right.
- You'll be giving your wings a workout here. Before that, take out Typhon's Bane and shoot the glowing thing behind the updraft. Jump across, and you'll find a chest containing an upgrade to your magic bar, and a red chest. Now, jump across and use the updraft to get to the wall in front of you. From here, wait until a set of spikes on the spinning pillar in front of you passes, then jump and glide to the right, using the updrafts to stay afloat. Go past the first spinning pillar, then go left around the second one. There's a red chest in an alcove just to the right of your destination. Glide to it to get the chest, then glide back just as the spikes pass you.
- Go down the hall to see the Ashes of the Phoenix. Head into the chamber, and read from the book to raise a lever at the end of the room. Jump across the lava to the platform on the left, and take out the skeletons that rise up. A scythe soldier will come down the hall at you as well. Down the hall, you'll find a room with a lot of spikes coming out of the ground.
- Use the lever to retract the spikes, then fire Typhon's Bane at the wall just to the left of center across the hall. You'll probably need to pull the lever twice, since the spikes pop up quickly. Once the wall's down, you'll see a statue of Lahkesis, and two scythe soldiers. Use either Typhon's Bane or your regular blades to keep them back until the spikes come back up for an easy kill.
- Pull the lever again, then use the Amulet to slow down time to collect the two red chests. You'll have to get them on separate trips. Now, pull the lever and examine the soldier slumped over the crank to get the Hail of Boreas. Run back to the lever, and wait for the spikes to come up.
- Now, pull the lever, then use the amulet. Run to the crank, and pull it until the gate way in the back is maybe half-way up (One full revolution of the crank). Use the amulet again, and then run like the blazes to get under it before either the amulet runs out or the spikes come back up. Also, watch out because there's a spike pit hidden in the hallway leading up to the gate, and it's hard to see because of the darkness.
- Keep going down the hall until you reach a corner with lava flowing down the wall. Just to the left of the lava is a ledge on the wall you can grab onto. Do so, then jump across the hall. Continue to the left from there, and you'll find three red chests bathed in blue light. Open'em up, then climb back up the ladder and continue the way you were going.
- You'll pass a pair of green and blue chests, and see a room with a large Phoenix statue toward the back. Before you enter, grab the statue to the left, next to another wall covered in lava, and push it ahead of you into the room. The Phoenix statue in the back will shoot walls of fire at you, and this statue is your only defense against being deep fried. Also, the statue will be pushed back when it's hit with the fire unless it's braced against something like those rises in the floor.
- Naturally, this wouldn't be complete without enemies, so some scythe soldiers and harpies will harass you the whole time. Push the statue around to the right, then push it past the raised floor against the right wall, then push it against the wall. Open up the gate on the right wall to get a pair of red chests. Now, push the statue as far as you can up the left wall, and open the gate there to get a blue chest and a red chest.
- Finally, push the statue to the back and center of the room, and pull the switch there. This will lower the floor in front of you so you can push the statue further ahead. Once you do, two more scythe soldiers will hop down to say hi, so give them a warm welcome. Beyond the floor you just lowered, there are two pressure switches. The one on the left opens the gate, while the one on the right lowers a grapple point. Put the statue on the left switch, then once the fire passes, step on the right switch and swing yourself up as quickly as you can.
- Collect the green chest, and push the urn forward, off the pressure switch, lowering the platform. Push it into the groove in the middle, then head toward the switch. Before you can pull it, the skeletons will rise up and a pair of fat minotaurs will jump in, with a third joining after the first two fall. Do what you do best, then pull the switch when it comes back up to dump the ashes into the lava.
- Once the Phoenix has made its dramatic entrance, jump across to the save point, then double jump (don't glide!) to the lower of the staircases you can see to find a red chest. Now, glide into the updraft to get onto the upper set of stairs, and head up, you'll be attacked by a couple undead soldiers, but they shouldn't even come close to stopping you.
- At the top, you'll find a red chest to the left. Get it, then head all the way to the right to get another red chest. Hop up onto the small platform here, and pull the switch to raise it up. Put the Hail of Boreas in the wall's mouth to unlock the door, then head through. Go in, then head left twice to find a red chest. Then head back and climb up the chain in the middle of the hallway. Head forward to get the green and blue chests, save, then back and to the right and blow on Boreas' horn to free the Phoenix.
- Jump down, then climb onto the circular platform on the right at the end of the courtyard. Glide from there to the one on the left, then glide to the left once more to reach the door. Head through, then pull the switch to raise the wall on the left. Climb up, then onto the ceiling between the white stones. Climb up again until you reach the higher ceiling, then break the shining chains on the back wall. Drop down, then pull the switch again and kill the grenadiers that come on the elevator.
- Grab the red chest from the alcove on the left, then pull out the pillar to the right. Push it so it's half way onto the platform that you raised with the lever. Pull the lever, and the pillar will block it from raising all the way, allowing you to get on it. Do so, then pull the pillar all the way in. Use it to reach the chain near the ceiling and break it. Turn the crank in front of you, then head into the hallway to the right. Use the green chest if you need to, then head around toward the camera. Duck into the small room with the crank, and turn it until the opening in the gate is on the right side of the room, revealing a red chest. Now, turn it back so the opening's in front of you, and head through.
- You'll enter into a silhouetted battle with an unidentified opponent. This is mostly a straight up brawl, so block his attacks and counter when you see an opening. This guy will constantly come at you, so just keep pounding away at him and block as much as you can. Eventually, you'll be able to grapple him, and you'll find out he's the Last Spartan, whom you sent back to Sparta at the beginning of the game. He'll tell you how Zeus destroyed Sparta, which will anger Kratos even more, as if that were possible. Afterwards, he will expire and the Kraken will attack.
-
The Kraken
- YouTube: God of War 2 The Kraken (Time: 4:18)
- In the beginning of this fight, Kratos will be too angry to fight. No matter what buttons you press, he'll just rant and rave against Olympus until the Kraken grabs you. Gaia will give you a pep-talk, and power up your Rage of the Titans. Once the cutscene's done, use it to break free of the Kraken's grip.
- Once you're back on the ground, attack the tentacle on the left until the Kraken raises it off the ground. Pick up the body of the Last Spartan (Hey, gotta be pragmatic), and put it on the pressure switch the tentacle was blocking to open up the air vent. Use the wings to rise up, then hammer away at the Kraken's forehead until he jams his tentacle into the vent.
- Go back, and climb up the tentacle until you reach, let's say, his wrist. Break the fleshy bit blocking your way, then hit Circle to chop off the end of the tentacle. Repeat the process (hitting the left tentacle again, since the right switch is broken), and this time he'll jam his tentacle into the wall. Jump onto it, then chop it off in the same way as the first.
- Now, the Kraken will eat the Spartan and throw a temper tantrum, flailing its tentacles at you like you were a Japanese schoolgirl. Run up, and attack both of his tentacles one at a time until he's hanging off the side. Hit the switch to finish him off by jamming the bridge down his throat.

Finding The Sisters
- Head down the bridge and examine your handiwork. Climb over it, then collect the two red chests on this platform before mounting up on the Phoenix. Why they made this a timed button minigame I have no idea, but time your buttons right to get on the Phoenix. You'll ride it to the top of the Fates' spire, where it will graciously drop you off.
- Swim forward and get up on the ground at the end of the room. Hit R1 to swing yourself up onto the central platform, then break the crystal in the middle to unfreeze time. Okay, now drop down underneath the platform and turn the crank until the small outcropping under the water is even with the groove below it. Dive into the water, and pull the switch at the bottom.
- Now, rotate the central platform again, and you'll see the hanging battering ram comes with it. Turn it counterclockwise so the battering ram is facing downward, then stop time. Run down a bit, then double jump and hit R1 to swing up. Jump from there onto the ram, then wait for time to catch up and jump to the left as the ram's swinging about to reach three red chests. It'll take you a few tries to get onto the ram. Once you've got those three, do the same thing only bring the ram to face southwest to get the two red chests and a chest with red and yellow orbs on the right side of the room. This one's a bit trickier, since you can't wait for time to catch up, as it'll pull the ram away from where you're going no matter which side of your target it's on.
- Now, head back onto the central platform, and use the ram to hit the bell. Slow down time with the amulet, then glide over to the second bell and ring it manually. If you did it in time, the center statue will crack. Rotate the ram until it's aimed right at the statue, and use it to break on through. Walk through the face, and go to the right and left to collect the red chests, then head forward. Collect the blue chest if you need it, then raise the gate on the far side of the room. Head up the stairs then glide across the gap to reach the Throne of Lahkesis.

Lahkesis and Atropos
- YouTube: God of War 2 Sisters Fight PT. 1 (Time: 9:59) | PT. 2 (Time: 4:12)
- The fight starts off just against Lahkesis. Mostly, she'll float around and come at you with her staff. You can block her attacks, and either use your normal or air attacks when you have an opening. She also has a projectile attack she'll throw at you. If you deflect it, she'll follow suit, and you'll play tennis with the blast a la Legend of Zelda until one of you falters. Alternatively, she'll throw a volley of triple-shots at you which are much easier to deflect, since she won't defend against the reflection. Occasionally, she'll throw her staff like a boomerang, and it'll drop energy bombs at you from overhead. Roll to dodge this one. Also, she'll sometimes dash away from a spot, but leave an energy bomb behind for you. Lastly, she'll sometimes rise up and slam into the ground for a shockwave style attack.
- Keep up the pressure, and eventually she'll rise up to the foreground and throw energy bolts and her staff at you. Dodge her attacks, and open fire with Typhon's Bane or just reflect her attacks to knock her out of the sky. She'll get back up, and electrify the floor. Hook onto the grapple points above, and dodge her attacks until the floor is back to normal, then drop down and the pattern will repeat.
- Eventually, she'll be floating and stunned, to double jump up to her and hit Circle to finish this portion of the fight. She'll summon Atropos, who'll bring you back in time to Kratos' battle with Ares in the first game. In this fight, you'll have to balance between fighting off satyrs, dealing damage to Atropos, and keeping her from destroying the sword you're standing on. The satyrs should be easy enough to deal with by this point, so wipe them out as they spawn. L1+Square is good for getting them in groups, otherwise just fight them as you normally would.
- Either reflect Atropos' blasts with the Fleece, or lay into her with Typhon's Bane whenever you get the chance. The sooner you whittle her down, the less chance she has of breaking the sword. She'll spend the battle flying around, and will rarely if ever be in range of your melee attacks. Luckily, the satyrs here will drop blue orbs as you kill them, so you can keep hammering away with Typhon's Bane. Sometimes, she'll attack the sword directly, so when she does drop everything and lay into her with the Bane until she flies off. Eventually, she'll be stunned, and you'll be able to end this part of the battle with a grapple.
- Now you'll be back to facing Lahkesis, with Atropos trapped in the mirrors. Lahkesis will fight the same as she did before. Wail away at her until she's stunned, then use the Amulet to slow down time and attack whatever mirror Atropos is hanging out of. The mirror will crack, so shatter it and repeat the process on the other two.
- Once the left and right mirrors are down, Lahkesis will take station in front of the third, and gains a new attack, where she sends five energy pillars at you. Step between them to dodge the attack. She'll just fire energy bolts at you from here, so either run up and attack, or reflect her bolts to whittle her down. When she's stunned, grapple her, then after the timed button segment, shatter the mirror to finish them both off.
-
The Last Sister
- Head through and save if you want. In the pools on either side of the walk way, you'll find a red chest hidden in an alcove cut into the walkway. Head into the next room, and climb up the wall onto the ceiling. On either side of the room, you'll see a couple of red chests in small alcoves. In order to get them, climb across the ceiling to the exit of the room, then jump and glide to the alcove on the opposite side of your approach. You'll have to drop down to the floor a couple times to get them both.
- Now, head through to the next hallway to see the third sister, Clotho. Head to the end of the hall, then break through the wall to the right. Head through the break, and you'll start down a long spiral leading to her chamber. You'll face a series of battles here, with only a couple green and blue chests along the way, so keep your health up as best you can.
- During the battles, energy walls will pop on and off, dividing the arenas further. You can use this to your advantage by dividing the groups of enemies into easier to handle bunches. Just make sure you don't get caught on the wrong side and get overwhelmed. Like in the first translator's section, you can shoot through the walls using L1+Triangle with either the Barbarian Hammer or the Spear of Destiny.
- The first set of foes you'll face will be a handful of undead soldiers, along with gladiators. Your room to move will be limited here, so try to always have a way out of wherever you're standing. The gladiators will drop yellow orbs if you grapple kill them, so feel free to use Rage of the Titans if things get hairy.
- Next, you'll be attacked by a handful of unarmored satyrs and armored soldiers. They shouldn't pose as much of a threat as the last group, so take them out and move on. As you reach the blue and green chests, you'll be attacked by sirens and gorgons. The red gorgons here have a new trick, a slower moving petrification bolt, as well as the instant-stoning beam the last set had. Use the fleece to turn it against them, and bash them to dust with the hammer while they're statued. This could be the trickiest part since, again, one strike while you're petrified is enough to kill.
- Keep moving once they're down, and collect any chests you need. Once you pass the blue/yellow chest, another set of armored soldiers will attack, so lay into them until they stop. Next, you'll fight some Elite Satyrs and fat minotaurs. Take out the Elite Satyrs first, and try not to get boxed in by the fat minotaurs. Otherwise, fight them like you've been doing. Once past them, you'll face yet another mixed group of satyrs and soldiers.
- Just before you reach Clotho's chamber, another set of satyrs and soldiers will attack, but they'll have a pair of cyclopses backing them up. Take out the small fries, then use stick and move tactics to keep away from the cyclopses and bring them down to size. You'll have to keep moving, and feel free to throw Rage of the Titans or Atlas Quake at them if you need them to back off. Once they're all dead, refill your health and magic with the last two chests, save, and Attack the hands on the door way, then hit R1 on the locks that the hands were blocking. Head in to see Clotho.
-
Clotho
- YouTube: God of War 2 Clotho (Time: 4:12)
- This is more of a puzzle boss than the rest of the ones you've faced so far. Head forward, avoiding the pendulums, and head to the left around Clotho. Attack the arm there until it goes limp, then turn the crank to open up the cage holding the green chest. Beat up the hand again, then jump and glide across. From here, climb onto the ceiling, and go all the way around to the other side. Break the bodies on the cage on the right, then repeat the process, stunning the arm, opening the cage, then gliding across to reach the rope leading to the next level. Oh, and don't forget to grab the blue/yellow chest here if you need it.
- Here things get a bit complicated. For reference, we'll be using the standard clock rule, with your starting point (the rope) at siX o'clock. From here, head to the right (about 4 o'clock) and pull the switch there to open a trap door. Attack the arm near the trap door, then pull the switch to close it, trapping the hand. Now, grab the handle on the edge of the platform near the trap door, and pull it counterclockwise.
- You'll be stopped by another one of her hands. Let the handle go (the urn it's moving will stop close to the first switch you pulled (we're at about 1 o'clock now). Stun the hand, then quickly climb up the rope, jump to the suspended platform, and pull the switch to drop the spike into the hand, trapping it. Drop down, and continue moving the urn counterclockwise.
- Pull it to the next arm, then stun the arm. No fancy tricks here, just stun the arm and pull the urn past it, until you're right next to the rope you came up on. Stand on the switch on the urn holder, then push the urn until it's in front of Clotho's last arm. Stun the arm now, and it will impale itself on the spike, pulling the rope it's on down. Climb up the rope, and jump to the suspended platform. Pull the switch to get to the next level.
- You'll find yourself face to face with the last Sister of Fate. You'll find a pair of statues of Lahkesis on either side of her, and a lever along the edge. Pull the lever to bring up a body, which'll give you green orbs when she smashes it.
- Stun her left arm (your right) and climb up the side of the door. Keep climbing up, then destroy the bodies jamming the rail. Use the amulet to slow down time, then attack both arms until they fall. Pull the rail until it's on the third stop from the right, then pull the lever to bring up one of the pendulums. Now, grab the pendulum with R1 and rotate it until it's facing her (stun the arms again if she's recovered). Now, use R1 on the back of the pendulum to finish her off.
-
Change Your Fate
- Head through either of the openings, then down the slope. Pull the lever here to raise the elevator, then head forward and swim under the gate. Grab the green chest if you need it, then keep swimming to the left. Keep going down the hallway, and you'll find a switch and a shimmering mirror. Save if you want, then pull the switch, then head back down. Go to the spool of thread to the right, next to the switch you pulled to bring up the pendulum. Pull it all the way, then use the amulet to slow time. Run as fast as you can back up to the mirror, and jump through to face Zeus.

Zeus
- YouTube: God of War 2 Zeus Battle PT. 1 (Time: 1:55) | PT. 2 (Time: 1:41)
- Zeus will be somewhat to surprised to see you, then attack. Kratos will wrestle the Blade of Olympus from Zeus, who'll then do a Godzilla impression. He'll summon sirens to attack you, and fire thunderbolts while you're dealing with them. If you stay to the back, the thunderbolts won't hit you. He'll also hit the platform, causing it to shake; you can dodge this attack by jumping. Lastly, he'll slam his fist in the middle of the platform, causing a small shockwave. Just keep to the sides to avoid it.
- Attack the sirens until they're stunned (a fully upgraded Atlas Quake should do the job), then grapple them to finish them. Their screams will hurt Zeus, and get you some health and magic back. You can also attack him directly with Typhon's Bane, or attack his fist when he slams it into the middle of the platform. Eventually, you'll stun him, and he'll rest his and on the platform.
- Grapple the hand, and Kratos will jam the sword into it, bringing Zeus back to size. This plays out more like a regular battle. Dodge or block Zeus's strikes, and whack him with the sword when you see an opening. Reflect his thunderbolts at him to get some health and magic. When you do enough damage, he'll swipe the blade from you.
- Keep up the same tactics, but be wary, he'll be able to do much more damage to you now. Pull out all the stops here, magic, Rage of the Titans, whatever you can throw at him. Eventually, you'll stun him and he'll go toward the center. Hit Circle to swipe the sword, and throw him against the pillars. Quickly, run up and hit R1 to whack Zeus with the pillar.
- Repeat the pattern, and he'll take the sword from you again. This time, though, he'll have a bunch of glowing lights around him. Use Rage of the Titans, and lay into him with everything you've got. You'll get a chunk of health refilled, then he'll go into the center, stunned again. Wrest the blade from him with Circle, then run over to drop the concrete platform on his head.
- He'll retreat briefly, then reappear at his gargantuan size again. He'll electrify the floor, and you'll have to hit Circle repeatedly to try and fight him off. Eventually, it will seem as if Kratos is giving up. Don't put down the controller yet, because there's one last timed-button minigame to get through. This one's a bit tougher than the others, as you'll have to be really quick with the buttons, but get through it and you'll beat Zeus.
- You'll reappear in the Loom Chamber again. Run down to your thread (the one next to the switch) and pull it as far as it will go. Stop time, then run all the way back up to the mirror, then jump through to finish the game and bring war on Olympus.
