In April 2009, General Motors recalled 1.5 million vehicles due to a manufacturing defect that they said may cause engine fires. According to the official press release, oil may run under the heat shield and ignite a small fire that may spread and increase the risk of an engine compartment fire. General Motors will repair the defect in the recalled vehicles at no charge.c
