Gloves are made to be worn on the hand. The main purpose of gloves is to provide warmth, but they are used for various other purposes.
Besides protecting from the cold, gloves are made for specific purposes such as protection from various elements. Sanitized rubber gloves are worn to prevent the spread over disease, as well as police when handling evidence. Gloves also prevent fingerprints from being left on objects.
Gloves in sports are common. Baseball players not only wear baseball gloves for catching the ball, they also may wear batting gloves. Football and hockey players also make gloves a standard part of their equiment.
