Gloria Estefan

Born in Havana, Cuba, on September 1, 1957, Gloria Estefan is a Grammy award winning Cuban American singer who has sold over 90 million albums worldwide. She has been nominated for fourteen Grammy awards since her career began in 1984, winning a total of seven. Estefan's last number one hit was the 1991 single "Coming Out of the Dark." In 1978, Gloria Estefan married Emilio Estefan. They have two children, a son, Nayib; and a daughter Emily Marie.

Estefan announced in early March of 2009 that her upcoming Latin American tour will be her last as she wants to focus more on her daughter as well as her writing and film careers. Her tour starts on April 9, 2009, and will end on April 23, 2009.PerezHilton: Goodbye, South America! (March 3, 2009)

Gloria Estefan has also entered the field of writing. In 2006, Estefan, again with the illustrative efforts of Michael Garland, authored a second book. Titled, "Noelle's Treasure Tale," it was the follow-up to her 2005 work. It made it as high as third in the New York Times Bet Selling List in the children's books category.
