Glenn Beck was hospitalized for five days following what was supposed to be an outpatient hemorrhoid surgery in 2007. Unbearable pain, and complications with pain medication caused Beck to describe his hospital experience as "...one of the darker moments in my life." He returned to broadcasting in January 2008.
Subsequent Health Care Discussion
Once recovered, Beck shared his experience on his talk show and website as well as in interviews for other programs including ABC News. After his hospitalization, he became significantly more interested in discussion on health care reform.http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/PainManagement/story?id=4101741&page=1 Critics in the media stated that Beck's position on health care before his personal experience was much less focused on improvements to the health care system with a larger emphasis on saving money.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZHycYmewng&feature=player_embedded
