Glengarry Glen Ross

  • Glengarry Glen Ross is a dramatic film about the cutthroat competition between real estate agents at a Chicago firm, after they've been pitted against each other in a competition scheme by their management. Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning 1984 play by David Mamet, the film contains the writer's signature themes of deceit, survival, ethics and men behaving badly. Al Pacino, who plays the verbose, conniving and philosophical "Ricky Roma," was nominated for Best Supporting actor at both the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Jack Lemmon won Best Actor at the 1992 Venice Film Festival, for his portrayal of the desparate has-been "[[Shelley "The Machine" Levene]]." Lemmon's performance also inspired the Simpsons character "Old Gil."
