Following Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011, FOX will air a special Glee Super Bowl episode.  The show, anticipated to start around 1030 pm EST, will include a rendition of the Lady Antebellum song "Need You Now" by Rachel (Lea Michele) and Puck (Mark Salling). The duo sing the song as a means of showing the football team that Glee Club is not just about singing show tunes. Glee Club director Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) and Coach Beastie (Dot Jones) put the two groups together in attempt to bring peace between them.  In addition to trying to do this, Rachel uses the moment to try to get through to Finn (Cory Monteith) through song.

After an interview with Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester), People Magazine reported the Super Bowl special episode will include a Glee halftime show with the Glee Club, the Cheerios and the football team performing as zombies in a Thriller-like show. Character Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale) is seen in pre-show pictures and video clips drenched in blood and the zombies are shown on the field performing.

FOX promo clips released in advance of the Glee Super Bowl episode show dancers with blue hair and fiery hulu hoops singing Katy Perry's "California Gurls." The dance routine includes BMX bikers running the ramps and cheerleaders wearing flaming megaphones as pasties.
