The 20th Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards were announced on January 26, 2009. The awards will be presented during a series of dinners which takes place on March 28, 2009 in New York City, April 18, 2009 in Los Angeles and May 9, 2009 in San Francisco.

The 2009 GLAAD Awards are made up of 185 nominations in 26 different categories. The awards recognize representations by the media of gay, lesbian, transgender and the bisexual community. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance against defamation will also present special awards of recognition to television host and model Tyra Banks for Excellence in Media and Suze Orman will receive the Vito Russo Award.Varitey.com: GLAAD announces TV, film noms (January 26, 2009)
