  • Girls Aloud are a British girl pop group created on the TV talent show, Popstars: The Rivals. In order to win the competition the girls had to compete against One True Voice, to see who could top the UK singles chart. The girls held the number one spot for four weeks in a row with the single, Sounds of the Underground. They went on to release their debut album, of the same name, on May 26, 2003. In addition, they released their second single, "No Good Advice" that same month.

Since then the girls have released a slew of hit songs like "I'll Stand By You," "Walk This Way," "Jump," "The Show" and "Love Machine," all of which have turned up in either the one or two spot.

Girls Aloud have also appeared in other television shows aside from the one that they competed on. They are Girls Aloud: Off the Records, Passions of Girls Aloud, Girls Aloud: Home Truths, Ghosthunting With..., St. Trinian's and Lord Don't Slow Me Down.

On April 8, 2008, their official website confirmed that the girls were co-writing an autobiography on themselves called Dreams That Glitter - Our Story. The name of the book came from a lyric in the song "Call the Shots." The book is slated to be released in October, 2008.
