Career
The Gipsy Kings were an instant success in Europe when they released their self-titled debut album in 1982. Even though they were from France, their sound was featured many aspects of traditional Spanish music. This is due to the fact that the parents of the members of the Gipsy Kings had fled Spain to escape the civil war. In 1989, they released their first album in the United States, Mosaique and the American audience responded well. In 1993 the Gipsy Kings were awarded a Latin Grammy for "Best Pop Album of the Year". They have continued releasing albums in both the U.S. and Europe and have amassed over 18 million sales.Members
