  • Ginger ale is a carbonated beverage that is flavored with ginger. Ginger ale is commonly used in mixed alcoholic drinks and comes in two varieties, golden and dry. Golden ginger ale is the older of the two. Dry ginger ale is more popular than the golden type. Though it is rare to find ginger ale in vending machines you can purchase it at grocery stores. You can also make your own ginger ale.

    The first ginger ale was created in Ireland around 1951. Canada Dry ginger ale was invented in 1907 by John McLaughlin. Vernors Ginger Ale was invented by James Vernor in 1866 and is one of America's oldest soft drinks.
