  • An Instant Classic

On the S.S. Minnow, the two-man crew and five passengers embarked upon the Pacific Ocean for a "three-hour tour," but ran into a tropical storm and were shipwrecked on a deserted island. Their wacky attempts to be rescued provided the premise for each of the show's nearly 100 episodes. Gilligan's Island did well during its three-season run, but exploded in popularity over decades of syndication, making the character of Gilligan one of the all-time most popular TV icons.
