The Gibson Guitar Corporation started October 11, 1902. Gibson always makes instruments under other names such as Epiphone, Kramer, Valley Arts, Tobias, Steinberger, and Kalamazoo. In 1902 Orville Gibson started his Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co, Ltd. His business started with the making of mandolins, then later on he incorporated his style into guitars with the help of Lloyd Loar. In the 1930's Gibson started producing successful electric guitars and took off from there. Later on in 1952 they released with the help of Les Paul the Les Paul guitar to challenge the Fender Telecaster.
