Paramount aired the first commercial of Super Bowl XVIII for their upcoming movie G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra on February 1, 2009. G.I. G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra is a live action film adaptation of the popular G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy franchise. G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra is set ten years in the future and follows, as the name suggests, the rise of the Cobra Organization. Director Stephen Sommers has said, "For people who know nothing about it, it'll make sense. And to people who love this stuff, it'll show where they all came from."
