Get Him To The Greek

Considering the fact that the 5,801-seat Greek Theatre has been open for business in the Griffith Park hills of Los Angeles since September 29, 1929, it's rather amazing that it has taken this long for nearby Hollywood to hatch a movie centered around the open air concert facility. Credit goes to Jason Segel, star of the 2008 comedy hit Forgetting Sarah Marshall, who spun this new conceit off as a separate vehicle for Marshall co-stars Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, who reprises his role as foppish British rocker Aldous Snow.

Already a well-established star in the United Kingdom, Brand has begun conquering the United States with his colorful American talk show appearances and was recently announced as the seemingly tailor-made star of a new remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore smash "Arthur". Completing the full Forgetting Sarah Marshall loop is the fact that this new film was also written and directed by Nicholas Stoller. In other words, this movie could just as easily have been titled Spinning Off Sarah Marshall.

Fittingly, the world premiere of Get Him to the Greek is taking place on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Greek Theater. A few days later - Friday, May 29, 2010 - the newest summer season of concerts for the facility kicks off with a reunion of a very different sort than the one featured in the movie - War, Average White Band and Tower of Power.

Get Him To The Greek Reviews

"This wild, unrestrained roller coaster ride of vulgar, demented debauchery is - so far, as of early June - the funniest movie of the year." - Susan Granger, SSG Syndicate

"The real story here is co-star P. Diddy, who owns this movie. At the end of the second act he explodes as a comic dynamo." - Joshua Tyler, CinemaBlend.com

"To be frank, it’s quite exhausting to watch Messrs. Hill and Brand at full speed for nearly two hours. Otherwise, the film is quite funny." - M. Tsai, CriticsNotebook.com

"Has all the earmarks of a Judd Apatow spin-off, and that's a good thing." - Cole Smithey, ColeSmithey.com

Get Him To The Greek Plot Synopsis

At the behest of record company boss Sergio Roma (Sean P. Diddy Combs), earnest employee Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is dispatched to London, England to retrieve washed up label rocker Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) and make sure that the musician arrives safe and sound at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles three days later for a reunion concert event. But Snow is in no mood to cooperate, having just released a monstrously unsuccessful album and broken up with his girlfriend Jackie Q.

The journey across the pond quickly turns into a coming-of-age experience for Green, with fully debauched sex, drug and rock'n roll pit stops in New York City and Las Vegas. Along the way, there is also a litany of recognizable cameos, everyone from Lars Ulrich of Metallica and real-life Brand girlfriend Katy Perry to Pink and Christina Aguilera.
