War Coverage Controversies
During the first months of the war in Afghanistan, Rivera filed a report in which he claimed to be at the scene of some friendly fire. It was later revealed that the incident occurred more than 300 miles away.During the begining stages of the Iraq War, Rivera was embedded with the 101st Airborne Divison. During a broadcast, Rivera revealed troop movements by drawing lines in the sand, showing where an attack was about to take place. The military denounced Rivera's broadcast, saying that he put the soldiers at risk, and revoked his media pass.
