Gerald McCoy is a Defensive Tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played his College Football with the Oklahoma Sooners, and his High School football at Southeast High School in Oklahoma City.
McCoy is among the finest DT prospects in this draft and is a virtual lock to be selected in the top five. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are very high on him, and need to cement the center of his defensive line. Since they have the third pick in the draft, there seems to be no chance he slides farther that that. http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-19045-NFL-Draft-Examiner~y2010m1d27-Prospect-profile-Gerald-McCoy
Scout are very high on him because it is very hard for an underclassmen to shin on the defensive front four at Oklahoma. McCoy not only did that, but was a team captain as a sophomore. He seriously considered leaving school for the 2009 NFL Draft, but decided to make a bigger name for himself.
The Book on McCoy is He rarely takes a play off, is effective in every phase of the defense, and hustles whistle to whistle. He may have had a low tackle total last season, but that is because he was on a defense filled with star players.
Given his size, 6-4 and 295lbs, McCoy has the size and strength to come in and dominate at the NFL level from day one. http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1676
In his final College Game the Brut Sun Bowl, he recorded three solo tackles, and a sack. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=188946
The only negatives heard about him in the build up to the draft his is 23 bench press reps at the NFL Scouting Combine. He also declined to bench press at his Pro Day workout on March 14th, 2010. While that is a low number, it should not affect his draft stock in the slightest. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1123685 McCoy was selected as the third overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2010 NFL Draft.http://www.nfl.com/draft/2010/live/landing
