High School
Green spent his first years of high school in Houston's Dobie High School. During his sophomore year he tried out for high school basketball but didn't make the team. Later during the year one of the players was kicked off the team because he refused to cut his braids to comply with the school's hair policy. Green was able to take his spot on the team. During his junior year Green became unable to play on the team due to his grades. His family decided to transfer him to the Gulf Shores Academy where he repeated his junior year. It was during his time at the academy that he excelled, averaging 29 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and three blocks shots per game in his junior year and 33 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks during his senior year.USA Today: Breakout star Green not all about the green (June 26, 2005)Family
