The Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball team competes in the SEC (Southeastern Conference). They attained Final Four status in 1983 and won the Conference Championship in 1990.

End of the Felton era
Georgia head coach Dennis Felton was fired by the university on January 29, 2009. Although Felton led the Bulldogs to an SEC championship in 2008, the team was 9-11 and 0-5 in SEC play during the 2008-2009 season. An 83-57 loss to Florida was the Bulldog's seventh straight defeat and resulted in Felton's firing.
