The Georgia Aquarium is located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. It currently holds the record for being the largest aquarium in the world with over 8 million gallons of water and more aquatic life than any other aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium is always hosting new and stimulating events and activities. It’s very family oriented and kid-friendly. It features unusual sea creatures such as giant groupers, Beluga whales, California sea lions, African penguins, Asian small-clawed otters, American alligators, guitarfish, cownose rays and whale sharks (which have never been seen outside of Asia)
With over 500 species of fish and other sea creatures, and something new every 90 days, you are sure to see something different every time you visit the aquarium. It also has a 4-D theater which allows guests to see the ocean from a fish’s point of view. The theater is one of the advanced in the world, with interactive seats and exceptional special effects that are built into the theater itself. There is also a special behind the scenes tour, where you can get closer to the animals and learn what keeps the aquarium running. Due to safety concerns this tour is only for ages ten and up, however there are other tours and educational programs geared toward younger children. From the aquarium’s petting pools containing sharks and sting rays to their highly acclaimed exhibit featuring whale sharks, everything is said to be spectacular. http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/
